I've been using this list, from The World's Healthiest Foods website, as a guide for 2 years now. The quality of my diet has improved, I have more energy, chronic health problems are getting better, and I'm never bored or tired of my food.
This week my list included:

organic free range eggs
butternut squash

WOW! this is exactly what I've been looking for! Anyone have a meal-plan that goes along with their list. I.e.... what do you do with all these foods once you buy them?
Love the "world's healthiest foods" website!
This is all great, I'm going food shopping tonight with a full list!
Now if only there was a health food store around here... I could probably get better quality then Stop n Shop...

You can do pretty well at Stop and Shop. It's the only place I shop. Health food stores generally just rip you off.
Here's my shopping list from earlier (at Stop and Shop):
Produce:
2lbs Baby carrots
1 lb Squash
2 bags of Dole Salad
3/4 lbs Onions
1 lb Broccoli
1.75 lbs anjou pears
2.5lbs Oranges
1.75 lbs Delicious Apples
24 oz raisins
Dairy/Eggs:
Half gallon of 1% milk
A dozen eggs
32 oz container of yogurt
Meat:
1 lb lamb chops (had a $2 off coupon, which cut the price to $2)
1 lb Top Blade steak
2 lbs ground buffalo meat
3.8 lbs chicken breasts
Snacks/Convenience food:
Can of Health Valley veggie chilli
A jar of Natural PB
A container of mixed nuts
A bag of Bear Naked Apple Cinnamon Granola
Misc:
Small Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipotle seasoning
42 oz tub of rolled oats (store brand)
A can of PAM for grilling, which was 50% off
All in all it cost me $74, and I could've cut costs even more if I wanted to. When you eat 3,000 calories a day, stores like Stop and Shop are a godsend. I'm going to wind up going through most of that food within the next 5 days.
I love this thread!
Here is my list:
soymilk plain, multi grain bread, organic peanut butter, organic oatmeal, organic raisins, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, Stoneyfields Farms organic plain yougurt, Coffee, whole wheat spagetti, tomato puree, red onion, broccoli, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, cucumber, grape tomato, garlic, red potatos, palm hearts, free range eggs, shredded mozzarella, frozen lunches, bananas, chicken breast, cabbage, carrots, celery, Paul Newmans Light Balsalmic Vinagarette, avocado, almonds.
I buy as much organic as I can.

Ikarnoid: Yes I create a weekly meal plan but only for lunch and dinner... breakfast depends on my mood, snacks & desert are generally fruit, nuts or yoghurt (which I automatically buy):

aleXXandra,
I don't know where in the world you are, but once spring comes around you may want to look for produce stands. We have a couple of organic farms around here, but their produce shops closed for the winter until Mar 15th. The foods are better quality, they are cheaper than the grocery store and they just plain taste better. I have growing boys and not enough fridge space that I have to shop for fresh foods every 3 days. I also live in a temperate zone that I can keep my spices growing year round in the garden, but the tomatoes and beans don't do as well in the winter so I pulled them last month.
Today's Shopping list:
2 gal FF Milk , ff non fat plain yogurt. (Used as a marinade and inplace of sourcream), Low Fat Mozzarella, cheddar cheese, feta, havarti, firm tofu
eggplant, 4 zucchini, onions, oranges, pears, apples, sweet potatoes, mixed salad greens, scallions, mushrooms, 2 red and 3 green bell peppers, tomatoes, celery, califlower, 5 lbs carrots, garlic, lemongrass, salsa fresca
unsalted fresh almond butter, unsalted mixed nuts, black beans, pinto beans, bulgar wheat
fish (salmon or whatever looks good), 1 whole chicken, beef & lamb
oatmeal, multigrain hot cereal, Kashi Go Lean Cereal, kalamata olives, unsalted diced tomatoes, unsalted tomatoe paste.
What I have on in the spice garden now: Parsley, sage, oregano, cilantro, thyme, rosemary
What I generally have on hand: Eggs, whole wheat flour, yeast, corn meal, frozen unsweetened berries (picked and frozen myself this year!), salt, pepper, saffron, homemade chicken broth, bones from chicken carcasses or beef bones to make broth, potatoes, green teas, fresh lemons from the tree, raisins etc.
My Lemon tree is confused about what time of year it is and just bloomed like mad despite that nasty storms we just had pound through here. I had to move it against the house so I don't lose it. I guess I get a bumper of lemons this year!
Anyway best of luck with your shopping and making better food choices. When I do shop, I get organic when I can, and I read my lables to keep the sodium low and to watch out for those preservatives I know I am sensitive to.
Kate
