I am a complete weirdo and sometimes do jumping jacks or an odd set of lunges or just hopping around with my daughter or running in place for 5 minutes.

My question is, do these little spurts burn any signifigant amount of calories or have any other benefit to overall fitness? Sometimes I just need a little burst of endorphins, so either way I will probably still engage in this behavior! I also run up and down the stairs at work any chance I get. I always wonder if it is doing anything for my body...

I think everything matters. It all adds up, especially the stairs.
It all probably burns about 50-150 calories by the end of the day, depending on your stats.
I don't know if it has other health benefits, but I recommend keeping it up!
Yes, keep it up! Short yet intense bursts are a great way to rev up your metabolism & increase energy level throughout the day. And, the calorie expenditure adds to your overall daily deficit.
Thanks, ladies...Yes I keep forgetting it all comes down to the numbers at the end of the day. I never thought much about calories the whole time I was losing weight, when it turns out that they are all that matters, lol.
endorphins will mainly be released during aerobic exersize, but if this routines make you happy then continue them.

I agree! I have no time for prolonged cardio so I'm trying to keep it together through this type thing, as well as running up and down stairs, etc.

For me, I find that counting my calories, and then prolonged cardio where I work up a sweat is about the only thing that makes me lose weight.   But I'm doing what I can, when I can - every bit must count!
