year 2009, short girls aiming to lose 20-30 LBS
so due to all the end-of-year celebrations. I've gained tons of pounds.
I'm 5'2 at 131.12LBS (59.6kg)
aiming to lose 25 pounds to reach my happy weight.
anyone joining me?
And another Friday :)
First of all, welcome to everyone who joined :)
@ safireeyez: Good suggestion! I have that problem too, sometimes. Actually, calorie counting has made it harder, because I weigh what I put on my plate. That way it's so much easier to determine the calories. But then I feel I have to eat what's on there, otherwise I once again don't know how much I ate ... Did that make any sense?
Isn't there any kind of workout that you would like? I wouldn't do it either if it wasn't fun. There is such a huge variety to chose from ..
I "measured" what kind of frame I am and for my height, it said with a 6,3" wrist I am a large frame (data from about.com). I cannot believe that! I may have a few pounds too much, but I never thought of myself as "large". I am kinda down because of that. The other test here on calorie count says medium though, because I can reach around my wrist with thumb and middlefinger. Which one should I believe?
Also, I will have to join you guys in upping my calorie intake .. I'm not on a plateau, but I'm losing weight way too fast. It's not like I'm complaining or anything, because I think my waist is already a tad bit more defined. But I don't want to go into starvation mode or something o_O Don't really know by how much I should up it. So far I thought I had a deficit of around 500 every day, but I must be burning more that I thought because otherwise I wouldn't lose so fast.
This week's result:
Lost this week: 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs)
Weighing now: 60.5 kg (133.3 lbs)
Overall loss: 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs) in 3 week
2/20/2009-- 146.5
Loss This week -- .5 lbs
Loss Since Starting This Challenge -- 4.5 lbs
Hello All! Hope everyone is doing well! Welcome to all the new folks!
madamq: Good for you for getting the idea of doing things "healthy" instead of just focusing on the weight loss. That took some doing for me! I also had the same issue, getting enough to eat during the day. Now I sometimes find that I want more than what I am allotted! haha
When I first started this all back in November, I couldn't even walk faster than 1.8 mph on my treadmill -- TALK ABOUT OUT OF SHAPE?! ARGH! It is so fulfilling to know that I have improved in stamina and endurance! I know I am not doing spectacular ... but I can finally do a slow jog at 5 mph for at least 2 minutes and that I can comfortably walk and get my sweat on at 3.8 mph! I am in the process of upping my mph to 4.0 and my high to 5.2 (while not spectacular it is a huge difference from where I started 100 days ago!).
redselene: I do the same thing!! Once I weigh out my food ... I feel obliged to eat it to maintain an accurate calorie count! LOL ... my BF calls me obsessive compulsive! And, I guess I kinda am!
Also, I wouldn't get worked up about what size frame you are ... my understanding is that is just referencing your bone size. You can't do anything about your bone size ... that is all genetics. I remember someone saying to me one time ... my parents are both Great Danes ... and I am a Great Dane ... so no one better expect me to be a Chihuahua! We are built the way we are built and some are built with sturdy bones than others!
Congrats on the the loss ... I know you are worried about it not being healthy ... but it doesn't make me any less jealous! haha ... I am struggling to lose weight! I work so hard and have little show for it but a nice up and down roller coaster ride. Tomorrow I will likely step on the scale and see it read 148 or 149! =( .... I would like that up and down thing to stop ... it is emotionally taking its toll on me!
Hope you all have a great week!!

Haha! I have the same problem. I have no idea what my frame size is.
The old wrap your fingers around your wrist test does not apply to me. Why? I have a genetic mutation that makes my thumb 1/2 to 3/4 inch shorter than the average! lol My thumb actually looks like a toe. Tres chic! If you saw it you would want one too! lol
This week: lost 1 lb since monday morning.
Current weight: 135.2 lbs
Redselene: That's great about all the weight you are losing, you must feel and see a real difference in how your clothes fit and how you look. I've only lost 5 lbs and my family/friends tell me they can already see a difference, which makes me work that much harder. I wouldn't suggest upping your calories too much but it's probably a good idea. I'd say try out 100 more and see how your body reacts next week when you weigh yourself. :)
I was so happy when I went to cyclefit this week, I tried more weight then usual during the weight lifting portion and I was able to do it no problem. I even tried my usual dumb bells, and they were too light for me. I'm just hoping I don't grow too much muscle in my arms!
Hi everyone
I have just been reading the posts and got even more depressed!
I have worked so hard this week (school holidays = no work). I have gone to the gym almost every day to work out for almost an hour, aerobics or long walks with kids. I have counted my calories and watched my portion sizes and have not even lost half a pound. I was hoping that the extra exercise would spurt me further while back at work to make me find time to exercise. Need to find motivation but finding it difficult. Any suggestions what I am doing wrong.
start weight 144lbs
current weight 144 lbs
goal weight 126 lbs ![]()

Shonaghmartin:
I have been doing a lot of reading recently on health, fitness and eating. One thing I have learned is that losing weight depends on how much you eat, what you eat, when you eat (not as important) and the amount of exercise you do. Exercise will tone your body and accelerate the losing weight process. So if your not losing weight it could be that your eating not a lot of food, but not the right food. I have been eating a lot of low-glycemic carbs, healthy fat & protein. Your eating must consist of a balanced diet between those three things in order to be successful at losing weight. In addition to this, there is a difference between low and high glycemic vegetables. You might think your eating healthy, but high glycemic vegetables and fruits lead to an over-production of insulin which leads to excess fat storing.
Check out this link: http://www.holisticonline.com/Remedies/weight /weight_whats-wrong-with-losing-weight.htm
It taught me a lot about which foods to avoid, which are good and when to eat them.
Good luck and I hope this helped!
I didn't have time to login over the weekend to do the Friday update, but I didn't lose any lbs. last week. If anything, I was about 1/2 lb. heavier than the week before. Still 157. (5'3.5, goal weight: 140 by May 24 and 130 by Aug 31).
I missed going to the gym a couple days (I am trying to go for an hour a day 6x week), but I think I might be eating too many calories. My activity level isn't exactly sedentary because I have a toddler I'm constantly cleaning up after, but I do a lot of sitting and studying during the day... plus the 1 hour at the gym... so I am not sure how many calories I really burn in a day. I was about to do a little tweaking of my settings on the site here but thought I'd catch up on some threads, first...
I guess it could also be that I'm gaining muscle, so I should just get weighed on the scale at the gym that calculates fat % again ... but either way, I'd really like to see the number on the regular scale keep going down!!!
Re: Frame size... I definitely think the actual measurement would probably more reliable than the finger thing since everyone's hands are different...
Hi bure7360
thanx for your post. I looked at the link for G.I foods and was suprised to find that I am unintentionally following this diet. Do you have any other usefull sites, or menu plans? I would be very interested if you have. Please let me know.
Thanks again
Shonaghmartin:
One plan I have been following is the Zone diet. It consists of 40% carbs, 30% fat and 30% protein. I try to use it for every meal, but it becomes hard so I usually try to balance it out to those percentages on a daily basis. So far it has been working out for me. This is the link: www.zonediet.com
Give it a look and let me know what you think.
Count me in, if you guys don't mind. A public weekly weigh-in sounds like just the thing I need to start holding myself accountable for my weight. :)
Height: 5'1.5
Starting weight: 123
Goal weight: 100 (23 pounds to go)
Whoo! Good luck everybody! See you this friday!
I'm in! Forgive me if I dont post too much, i usually only have time to log what i eat daily and other than that im very busy.
I'm about the same as you.
Last time i measured I weighed 134.2 lbs.
I'm 4' 11".
:[
Work in progress though, good luck to everyone!
Let me add is that my goal weight is anywhere between 95-110 pounds!
I'm pretty muscley and i would like to keep it that way for the most part =]
I'm in! I'm 5'3 and 155lbs. I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds to bring myself down to 135, and someday I HOPE to reach 125
Ok i am still in...i forgot about this whole thread and was looking in my inbox and rememberd...this is an awesome way to stay focused!
So wieght in tomorrow? *hopes for the best*
maybe we should start a forum? like short girls aimaing to loose 20-30 pounds, it may be easier to read we could have a thread for our fitness plans a seperate thread for meal plans and then another thread for weekly weigh ins..what do you ladies think??
I am good for a weigh in tomorrow. I do not want to see the scale though!
It has been a tough week and I have only gotten in half the workouts I had planned. I have also indulged my stress and eaten too much. Not a lot. Just 200 calories or so. But given my light workouts those extra calories cant be good!
Hey everyone :)
Leahhh, by forum, do you mean like a group here on CC? I think that's a good idea, because I'm totally losing overview about how many people joined and all ;)
But for the time being, we can weigh in here, right? Because for me it's already Friday ;)
I don't have any good news though, had a horrible week. First my boyfriend became ill, then I did too, and now we're both at home caughing and sneezing around. Although I still successfully kept up my calorie deficit of 500 a day, I didn't lose anything :(So:
Lost this week: 0
Lost since start of challenge: 7.7 lbs
current weight: 133.3 lbs
I attribute it to all the medication and possible water retention. Guess it'll be better next week.
Also, I hope you guys did better than me :) I could use reading something more positive right now ;)
Hey can I join? I'm 5'1.5", 122. Gained 4 pounds on my R&R from Iraq this month! 2 weeks time! I can't believe it! Hoping to get below 110 soonish. But I don't feel too bad about myself once i am around 114. I joined CC March 08 at 125, got down to like 112/113, came to Iraq at 115 in October and now look at what happened! Grrr! I am trying so hard now and it is not budging.
Hi everyone! I'm 5'1'' too and want to join :)
Starting weight: 158.4lbs (last friday)
Current weight: 154lbs
Goal weight: 125lb
When I started I had my period and I didn't think about it at first, but when I realised I'd lost 4.4 in a week I got a bit suspicious, and I guess it's because of that.
Hang in there! Now I'm off to a nice soup lunch.. See ya next friday :D
Hi Everyone! It seems like this thread is exploding and I'm so in! I need it and the other short forum is bare and empty so there is no motivation whatsoever.
Starting Weight - 138
Current Weight - 133
Goal Weight - 115
I've been on a 3 week plateau so hopefully it will break soon!
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
Suspect lactose intolerance when abdominal cramps are a problem, especially after breakfast when milk products are consumed. Lactose... Read more
