Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

Hey guys,

Well, I've got you all "beat" at 5'1 and 246lbs :'(

I'm so glad to have found this post! Granted I'm much bigger than many of you, it's nice to see some "shorties" weighing at least a little closer to what I am. It makes me not feel quite as bad as when I see 6' men weighing less than I do :(

Have a wonderful evening!

How do I go about making a closed group? I'm new to this haha.

I saw on another post the "lead" person put all the names in a post and that made it seem more personal.  I am not sure but I think you just change your original post to say CLOSED at the end of the subject line.

SmileOhhhh I want in!!

I am 5'4", 31 years old, and weigh 167 pounds as of today.. I started (second time around) CC on June 26th at 173 pounds...

My goal is to drop down to 135 lbs. by the end of this year and need the support!

Yay!  I've been really hoping that a group like this would come along because I'm far from 120.

I'm Becky, 5'1", currently down 9 pounds in my first 6 weeks here.
Current weight = 185.2

I would love to join if the group is still open!

I SO need a group like this.....

I'm 5'3 and weigh 261!!! I've lost 42 lbs, thus far (since April 1st). But, want to get down to 170 (I'm pretty muscular...underneath my 10 layers of fat). But, I'd be close to a 8/10 (or smaller) if I lost another 100 lbs (currently a 18). I've added a lot of workouts and my weight hasn't moved in the last 2 weeks. I've had a difficult time eating the right number of cals for my workout. This group is just the motivation I need!!

I'm in! I haven't done a CC group before but sounds like good accountability.

I'm 5'2" and I started at 280...EEK!!! My highest ever! I am currently at 256.8. My immediate goal is to break 250...it's been a few years since I've seen it!

I have done every diet in the world, but the CC thing is helping me to realize what I'm eating and when. Sometimes things that seemed "okay" have been found to be KILLING my weight loss! I go to the gym every other day...elliptical or treadmill and some light weights...try to walk on the days in between that.

Good luck to all as we journey together!

I'm in too.

I am 5'4" and as of this morning 168. I started CC about a month ago and have lost 9. I have an easier time counting calories than working out. I have a f/t job and a 3 yr old. I'm sure many of you can sympathise. I have found a workout video - Jillian Michaels 30 day shred - and it has me dripping within 5 minutes. Plus, it is only 26 mins for a great workout. Makes it easier to fit it in. I usually have more time in the evening after everyone goes to bed. I also allow myself one cheat day a week (usually Saturday) to not watch as closely what I am eating.

My goal is 141 by February but really try to focus one week at a time. I was always a soda drinker, but have only had 2 in the last six weeks. I found somewhere that suggests taking your weight and dividing it in half and that is how many ounces of water you should drink each day.

And as crazy as it might seem, I find that getting a tan once a week helps me watch what I am eating. I feel a little more self-confident. Silly, but it works for me!

Good Luck to all!

I want in!  I'm 5'3" and 170.4 today at weigh in. I weigh in M-W-F at my LA Weight Loss Center. Started LA Weight Loss in March of this yr. I first stopped in in January, I was so tired of feeling sick and tired. All my joints hurt, I had no energy, and I really couldn't believe that was me in the mirror! Weighed 199 that first visit. Heard the pitch, then the price and thought, woah, can't afford that. The girls called me back in February, when they were running a 1/2 off special. I was ready then, I'd just had surgery and due to their rules, I had to wait a month. Started CC on my own and by March I had lost 4 lbs!

The weight has been coming off slowly but surely! I haven't really had an exercise routine till this month. Started water aerobics(LOVE IT!)July 3rd, 45 minutes M-W-F. Feeling pretty good physically, might try to add some other exercise along with the water aerobics.

I haven't really participated in much of the community stuff, but would like to. Motivation and inspiration are soo helpful in this battle of the bulge!

I'd love to be part of this group if it is still open. I am 5'1" and 201 lbs. I was 212 when I started on July 2 and my ultimate goal is about 120 but I have set interim goals in order to stay motivated etc... so my first goal is 190 by Sept 1st. My main challenges is exercising but I am working on it.

Hope it's not too late to get in.  I'm 5'1" and was at 166.  I'm now at 155 but still want to lose about 30 more.  I started using this website 5/8 and lost 11 pounds so far.  Right now though I'm at a plateau and can't seem to really breakthrough that.  So I'm trying to workout really hard this week and keep a good log of the food to see if that helps.

Hi, I'd like to join, too. I'm 5'3 and stuck at 163. Normally I'd be out walking right now, but with the Dolly dumping more rain and wind I'll need to just do my inside routine, free weights for some strength training. I think I need a support group!

I'm so excited there are others like me. So...how about we say we're CLOSED now?

And I'm also going to post my first whining. Haha.

My friend from my home province is visiting me, and I'm having a hell of a time keeping it to 1500 cals. Also, the number of calories I'm supposed to be eating a day confuses me beyond belief. Originally I was doing 1700, but now I've switched to 1500, because the amount of food in 1700 seemed too close to what I was eating before (although my choices were healthier). I know we're only supposed to have a 500 calorie deficit from what we burn, but is that from our BMR, or from our daily total burn? Because according to CC, I sometimes burn nearly 3000 calories a day. Can someone clear this up for me?

I'm in! I just started with CC and have not even started excercising yet. I am 22, 5'4" and 188lbs. I want to get down to 135lbs by May of next year. I got married two years ago and weighed 130lbs, and I guess with the influence of my husband around, just Blew up! He likes to eat at night, A LOT, whereas I used to never eat at night past 7pm. Dinner was always ready by 6pm, and had dessert at 7pm, and was done. For him, he can't even eat dinner until 8 or 9 pm. I try to go ahead and prepare dinner as early as I can and eat as early as I can, and just leave the food out for him now, but it took a while to learn that is what I needed to do.

Anyway, Starting Monday I'm going to be hitting the gym EVERY DAY for at least 30 min. to an hour. I'm excited!

It's good that you're excited! Being excited to start something is definitely key. I need to pick up a work out routine. I used to be such a gym rat! But now I don't have the money or motivation to go. I walk quite a bit though, and I'm very active at my job, so I'm not completely sedentary.

Hey, I know that you've put closed up now, but could I please squeeze in? I only just got on my computer, and this group would be perfect for me!!!! I've also found the other thread to be too much about losing 5lbs when you're already at a healthy bmi....

I'm 23, 5" tall exactly, and I currently weigh 168, down from 190. I'm aiming to get down to 140 to start with, then I might try to get lower depending on how I do at maintaining. I was always a curvy girl, I'm waiting for knee replacement surgery so I can't really exercise. Before I started Uni I went on WW and went down to 122, but I found it incredibly hard work to maintain, and had to constantly watch what I ate, how much walking I did, and I basically found it too difficult, so I gave up, and over four years gradually put on 70lbs. I'm now trying to get to a sustainable weight until I've had my surgery and can start exercising etc.

I'm a UK size 14/16, and I'm trying to keep my calories at about 1500 per day. I burn 1800 on a desk day, and 2100 on an archive day (I'm an archivist) as I move about a lot more.

Edit - I do want to lost 40+ overall, My end goal is 125, though I think its going to be difficult to get that low without exercising or starving myself.

I have no idea.  But I think it's not a bad thing to burn a little more than 500 calories so long as you're still eating a healthy amount.  Supposedly dropping 1 to 2 lbs a week can still be healthy and you have to have a deficit of 1000 calories a day to drop 2 lbs in a week, if you think about it.

Besides there are a lot of times we're adding a few extra calories here or therein one extra dollop or one extra bite, so I think trying to cut back while you're thinking about it balances things out.  So long as you don't go crazy and stop eating a healthy amount.  Embarassed  That's my weakness, having that one, two, or 'more' extra bites when I know I should quit eating and I'm 80% full.

Let's encourage each other to eat healthy and exersize, I know our goals can be reached through lots of dedication!

triciae77- We're pretty much in the same position!  I'm 5'0 and weigh 155!  Started at 160 2 weeks ago so I've lost 5 pounds.   I'm rooting for you...and everyone else of course!

holsfisher- Wow!  Your progress is inspiring!  I guess I have a thing for other 5'0 people!!  My first mini goal is 145.

lynners- Wish I could help you with your question.  I thought the deficit was from the daily total burn though.  I'm so new that I could totally be wrong though!

From I understand, you're supposed to be looking at your deficit from what you're actually burning (otherwise, you might not leave the 1200 vital calories).  But that confuses me with the fact that meter for calories doesn't change to take into account your activity calories.

But it still makes sense to me that if I exercised for 300 calories (what I normally get - 15 minutes walk + 30 minutes wii-fit.  Er, since I got the wii-fit last week :)), I get to eat those calories, since otherwise it's 1250 cal - 300 - 1900 they say I'm burning by doing nothing, and that seems like it would be bad.

Hi! Could I please still join.

I just started today. I am 22 , 5'4" and 210lb. I work as a Special Care Aid, but I have not been active, other than at work.   All the ppl I know are lovely but Skinnie Minnies still trying to lose weight so I don't have much of the type of support I would like. I am on a tight budget so I am working out on my own . I can weigh in on Wednesday if that the day you guys have picked (is it every week?) If I can join plz let me know.

Thank you

Lili

I am off to a really terrible start.....  Yesterday would have been a really good day... for my meals for the day I was at 1600 cals, with a burn of 2250 once I logged by activities. Then I spoiled it by eating a small slice of cheesecake (350 cals) 7 profiteroles (about 300 cals) and drinking a bottle of wine (500 cals) so I ended up with a calorie count of 2800..... When I weighed myself this morning I was up two and a half pounds with the water retention etc caused by overeating. And I'm going out for dinner tonight, so I'm going to have to strictly save calories for the rest of the day, and get on te exercise bike saturday and sunday to "pay back" the excess....

Lol, I am already having a bad feeling about the Wednesday weigh in!!!!
