Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)
Hey everyone,
I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.
So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.
So how about it?
Well its my first wednesday weigh in with the group, I used to weigh in on Fridays so at my last weigh in last Friday I was at 174.4ish (scale couldn't quite decide). This morning I was at 172.6 :)
Had quite a good weekend and start to the week, was very active over the weekend what with cleaning my house and animals, ate well apart from I allowed myself a chicken tikka with naan bread and a packet of cadburys giant buttons on sat night but then I went swimming on sunday (100 lengths). So far this week I've been to the gym on monday and swimming again yesterday. I'm going to gym tonight and swimming again thursday. Just getting back into my routine since coming back from holiday last month (luckily didn't gain any weight) so hopefully I'll be seeing the lb's rolling off in time for next holiday, booked for 15th July next near....I'm planning on having a hot bikini body by next year!
Hey guys
LW - 169
TW - 169.5
Aarrrggghhh... Oh well. I did indulge in some delicious but ridiculously fattening homemade chicken gravy, made with about 4tb of chicken fat per person.... It was soooo delicious though.... and a take away.... and some bacon rasher maize snacks.... damn! No wonder I'm pretty much maintaining instead of losing! I'm still above the weight I was when I started in this group!
Lynners, I am with you in the feeling in a rut thing... I'm really good, eat delicious healthy food, and then have an afternoon where I just don't feel like cooking or something, and bang! 3000 extra calories! Like yesterday, I forgot to defrost any meat from my fridge, so I gave in to the temptation to have food from the really nice fish and chip shop at the end of the street. Granted, its better than a lot of fish and chip shops, as it only uses ground nut oil for deep frying (not lard) and everything is done at a high heat and is crispy, not soggy with fat, but still, we're talking major calories.... The worst thing is, its not that I like the unhealthy food more, or anything like that (though it was really nice) its just disorganisation...
On the plus side, since starting to eat healthily in May, the increase in vegetables, water and nutrition has cleared up my skin and my hair is growing faster! I always wanted to have long straight hair, but my hair has always grown so slowly that trimming off the dead ends meant it didn't get any longer. I have given up the trimming anyway, but my hair has gotten shinier, and has grown at least six inches since Christmas - that might be as much as twice as fast as it use to grow. And my nails don't break as easily as they use to. Its strange,l I've always eaten loads of veg so I kind of assumed the unhealthy stuff was balanced out before, but this is really a significant difference.
This weeks goal - to defrost each days dinner overnight so that I have food that has to be used the next day to stop me giving in to bad temptations! Also to eat all of the apples and blackberries growing in my garden, as they won't last much longer and taste delicious, and are really good for me!
Good luch to everyone, and welcome to the new people! And sympathy Ocean_girl88 I put on a good 6-8lbs in water weight during my TOM, it drives me mad, and is really demotivating. But its nice to see all that weight drop off again the next week!

Almost 1/2 pound loss, "Deal or no deal"? I'll take it!
Ocean, the only difference between sticking with exercise and not sticking with exercise is; sticking with the exercise no matter what. I also used to get a good start and fade out over a period of a couple months. I finally realized that I must not think about how I feel each day towards exercise, JUST DO IT! (where is that little check mark that hangs around that tag line?) ;)
linz, great start. I also want a bikini body by next summer, just not sure if the bikini body I will have is the same bikini body everyone else would invision. There's always the bedroom with it's "special lighting" tricks and alcohol to help at least convince hubby that I got a bikini body. lol
fisher & lynn, I am sending over some "rut-be-gone" to help.
Wtg to previous posters & those to come.
I also have another recipe that is pretty good calorie wise and is very convenient to grab out of the freeze to reheat: tuna stuffed baked potatoes, I will post it later when I have more time.
TW: 201.6 :)
Im pretty surprised because sat-tues the scale was at 204-205 so I "knew" it wasnt gonna go down for today but low and behold 201.6...yay...Looking forward to maybe being under 200?!?!? by next weigh in.
This week I have yet again to work out ugh!
So goal for this week and I AM gonna do it is to at least take a 30 min walk.
Way to go everyone and keep it up!
Good job everyone!
I'm happy to see some new faces to replace the others that have faded away.

Definitely surprising, since I've been doing just awfully. A lot of it is probably water weight, because I played ball all weekend in the hot hot sun and instead of drinking water, I drank beer. I went out with my ball last night and thankfully held back on the beer, but I picked at a few things on the free sponser platter the restaurant gives us.
I need to go grocery shopping. The only thing I have in the house is frozen ground beef, eggs, feta cheese, and some frozen mixed veggies. Nothing that's very good to be taking to work for lunch. Thankfully I have some left over pizza for today, otherwise I'd be eating McDonald's which is right next door.
Whew, end rant.

Oh heck yeah, I'll take that anyday after the way I ate this past weekend. Also, it's my TOM, so I'm surprised the scales didn't read a gazillion point trillion this morning.
ocean_girl and chantale, we are kindred spirits! I am so bad at sticking with exercise. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't exercised in a month. A whole month! I'm going to try to work out at least ONCE this week. We can do it! Congrat on your loss, chantale. You're so close!
triciae, you are a woman of few words ;D, but I just gotta take a moment and congratulate you. You always come in posting a loss, even if it's just a half a pound. Way to stay commited!
linz, keep it up and you'll be smokin' on holiday in July!
holsfisher, your post had me noding. One of my biggest hurdles to eating right is staying on top of the grocery situation, finding the energy to cook, preparing ahead. Gah. It takes a lot of work to eat healthy. But my skin has cleared up, too. I think I especially noticed it in the past few weeks because my pre-TOM breakout was miniscule compared to normal. All those healthy choices are worth it in more way than one!
My current mini-goal is to stay OUT of boyfriend's ice cream! I broke down and had a bowl with a biscotti last night, and it put me at maintenance for the day, urgh. Must. Stop. With the bedtime snacks. :/

I was a little nervous today weighing in because I felt bloated over the weekend, but it went away. Keep up the good work everyone. I know exercise is hard for some of us but it is so worth it health wise. I just keep thinking how my blood pressure is going down and it keeps me going. My skin feels softer too. I think all that water definetely helps(even though I have to use the bathroom alot). I have to go see my Dr. today and I just know their scale will weigh me more than my scale(boo). I know I've still lost the same amount of weight, but it's the mental thing, you know? Hope everyone has a good week and just keep trying! Talk to you later!
Mrsmao the doctor is going to LOVE that you have lost some weight. I know the scales at the offices are always going to say a higher weight, but it should be lower than the last time you were there. Good luck!
Good morning ladies :)

Great job everyone. I too struggle with the exercise. I mean to get on the machine but I dunno I just don't have the motivation. Perhaps we should try an exercise challenge. I think perhaps my weight loss was the cutting off of my hair... Was almost to my waist, but I was tired of it so now it is just above my shoulders. I think my hubby is mad at me tho as he was bitchy yesterday after he came home from work.
Well cross fingers that I get motivated this week. Drive me crazy the ice cream thing my husband probably had two bowls a night he definitely plays with my self control that one!!

So my loss isn't great but it's still a loss, right? I had a wedding on Sunday and was served margherita pizza as dinner (vendor meal) and a side of cake with that! I also had my first coca cola in over a month... it wasn't even good! So, even with all of this I was able to stay within my cal target for the day which is excellent!!
I signed up for swimming on Monday and plan on going 6 days a week for about an hour (exercise goal).. I LOVE swimming!! The gym has some really cool dance classes and I am thinking of taking Flamenco... I may try it out today before committingto the classes.. it just looks like so much fun!! hopefully the swimming and flamenco classes will help with the weight.. i'll let you all know how it goes!
Keep it up girls!! we are on the path to changing our lives and I am so excited for us all!!

I am a bit surprised! ![]()
I ate out 2x this last wkend, fairly good choices(but who knows what is truly in restaurant food). Did go over on my calorie goal on Fri, Sat, & Mon but not by more than 175 at the most.
Got lots of activity on Sun & Mon - went boating and tubing both days for about 4 hrs each day.
Walked Sammi Lou at least 20 minutes everyday since Fri, keep forgetting to put on the pedometer : (
Started using the recumbent stair stepper at the gym (Tues & Wed 2400 steps each day) and I am maintaining!!
Then to top things off- today I stopped at Panera Bread for a Strawberry Poppyseed Salad w/chicken (160 cals for 1/2 portion, low sodium, fat free dressing-yum) and they no longer are offering it!! Chose a Fandango Salad w/FF Raspberry Vinagrette and lo and behold when I cc'ed it - 400 cals
28 grams fat!
ok, rant done! I am post menopausal so I can't blame ttom, but, hey, the hormones are still wacked!
mini goal #1 (for this week) - no more eating out!! I will cook all my own food and will pre-plan for work to have food with me! (I travel in my car, mainly working the county that I live in.)
mini goal #2 - continue with the water aerobics, rss machine, and walking Samantha. (She loves it and I think she feels better, too!)
Keep up the good work everyone! I'm not last, I'm not last! I hope!
I was wondering if anyone else has this and if so did it help you lose weight? Did you have more energy after?
Thanx girls!
Bad labour day weekend binge! Back on track yesterday so here's hoping for a better week.
Well done to everyone this week!!
Hi girl,
Been really tied up moving my daughter back home - she is clinically depressed, and has PCOS - with wieght issues. She has had a bad time so been sorting her out bakc home.
I have been watching my calories and zig zagging or cycling or whatever its called when you range between 1200 - 1500 with a different amount each day, and it i woking. where as before I tried to have the same each day.
Well I started at 210 on 27 July and have lost 17
,
I am now 193 today. My mini goal is to be 13.5 by 25 September as it is my birthday, and I am right on target.
Then my goal is to lose a minium of 4 pounds a month and hope by excercising and keeping active I will bup it up to 7 pounds a month
0= I have to measure my self I am losing inches or re- arranging 'flabby abbey'
1-3 pound a month = OK
4-6 pound a months =good
7+ pound a month - i am a dieting and excercising goddess!! LOL
I just thought I'd share with you all my total joy at discovering that now that they use Sunseed oil and better ingredients, Monster Munch are only 108 calories a bag, and the bags actually contains enough for me to not need to eat two. Mmmmmmmmmm, monster munch....
I wanna be a workout goddess too!
I wanted to find out if anyone else is measuring. I do it the beginning of each month. I already did September and I wanted to get others onboard so we can check back in the beginning of October to see if we have lost any inches.
Ok the Tuna stuffed baked potato recipe;
8 large baking potatoes 2 tablespoons butter or marg 2 cans 7oz size tuna, drained 1 can (10 1/4 oz) condensed soup, undiluted (cheddar cheese, cream of broccoli ect) Tabasco sauce salt 4 slices American cheese, halved 400 degree oven, clean potatoes, rub with butter, prick with fork, bake or about 1 - 1 1/2 hours, then cool. Scoop out the insides of the potatoes, mix that with tuna, then add the rest of the ingredients, mixing well. Refill the potato shells, top with American cheese half, place potatoes in shallow dish and bake for 15 minutes if fresh made, up to 30 mins if from fridge. I make these and freeze them to have for times when I want a light meal or something fast and healthy. ENJOY!
Edited to add; Mine average out to 150 calories each half. By the time you refill them it is a pretty good amount. Sometimes I lose some potato skins by being over zealousin my scooping. It may be best to put it in the CC recipe builder to ensure your calorie amount are accurate. I also plan to use different meats in the future, they are so convenient for quick snacks too.
I measured for the first time at the beginning of August, and I still need to get around to doing it for September...maybe I'll do that right now...
I guess I'll share my numbers?
Neck
14.25 - 14
Underbust
35 - 35
Mid Waist
34.25 - 33.5
Hips
46 - 45.75
Thighs
27.5 (I'm ignoring the measurement I had previously, because I clearly measured in the wrong place)
Calves
17 - 17
I really didn't think I was going to notice any difference, but clearly I'm changing! Hooray!
The tuna potatoes sound yummy! Do you know the calories for each one?
I measure myself once a month usually around the same time. I think i need to draw lines on my body so i measure in the same spot each time lol.
Way to go lynners!
