Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

Hi, I'm 5'4, weigh about 178 lbs right now.  I know I look HOT, HOT, HOT at around 140 lbs so am looking to lose.  I've found also that since I'm 46 yrs old it is harder.  Let's work together!

Where is everyone this week...

Hang in there

Welcome litewithinme.  We weigh in on Wednesdays.

Hey everyone.   I've been a little sad since Friday.  I had to put my 15 yr old cat, Nala, to sleep.  She was a great buddy to me for so long it's weird not to have her here.  I've not done good as far as my eating goes.  I hope tomorrow I can at least maintain where I was last week,  but I'm not so sure I will.    Talk to you all tomorrow.  Good luck to everyone at the weigh in.

aww Mrs Mao that is sad to loss a member of your family like that.  I would be lost without my indie <dog>.

hugz

My sympathy to you mrsmao. I think when I go home this Christmas it will be the last time I see my childhood dog, Opie. It's definitely going to be a teary goodbye.

*hugs*

Looks like its weigh in time again....

Last Week: 166.2

This Week: 164.2  :D

Not what I was expecting as I've felt quite flabby this week for some reason, don't know if that was maybe just in my head and maybe a bit of water retention for some reason but I WAS fully expecting a gain so I'm happy that my scales have given me a nice suprise for once!

My eating has improved this week and I'm back on my healthy diet and not over restricting. It was hard feeling that eating more was going to make me fat even though I know pretty much the opposite is true....but old habits die hard.

Just out of curiosity what is everyone elses calorie intake on workout days and non workout days and how many calories on average are you burning on workout days?

Mrsmao I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I live for my animals, I have 2 dogs, 39 ferrets, 2 cockatiels and 2 tropical fish tanks. The pain of losing one never goes away but you can always be glad that they've live a happy life with you, full of love. I have a dog, a horse, 4 ferrets, 3 chinchillas, 5 gerbils and 2 rabbits gone over 'Rainbow Bridge' so I know exactly how you must be feeling right now.

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend, Bifröst.

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

LW: 185.0

TW: 183.6

I will take any loss and the fact that again up until yesterdaI had not lost one pound, makes 1.4 a wonderful thing.

I wonder why I always only see a loss on weigh in days....weird lol

linz78 That was very beautiful I just lost my mom a little over a year ago and I like to think that what that poem said is true, thank you so much for sharing.

Mrsmao I know how you feel I lost my Chico about 3 yars ago he was a pomeranian and the cutest little guy ever he was 15 yo and we had to put him down because he had skin cancer. It was so hard and took a long time for me to be okay with it....believe it or not it does get a little easier.

My non weigh/food related goal this week is to be more patient with my son, he has been rather testy these last few weeks I guess the terrible twos are kicking in...yay lol

Good Luck girls!

First off, thank you all for your kind words for my cat.  Losing a pet is never easy.

linz78:  The Rainbow Bridge is so beautiful.  I bawled my eyes out.  Thank you for sharing it with me and everyone.

Now for the weigh in......

LW:  173

TW: 171.8 (how in the world I'll never know)

I was really awful last weekend and on Sunday was up to 173.8, so I don't know how that came off.  I really watched it Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday though.  I was a little depressed from losing my cat and I just felt like eating things I knew I shouldn't be eating.  I need to figure out a way that when I get the urge to eat bad stuff I go do something else.  It's a feeling that comes over me though.  It's hard to explain, but sometimes I just want to eat things even though I know the next day the scale is going to bite me in the butt!!

I guess my non-weight related goal this week will be to get my house organized for the holidays.  Really, sometimes it gets bad.  My son loves cardboard boxes and makes things with them.  My house looks like a tornado or hurricane came through.Smile  I hope everyone has a good week.  Good luck to all who come after and congrats to linz78 and chantale1985 for your loss.

Start Weight - July 23rd- 222.2

Last Week: 185

This Week: 182.8

Finish Week 2 Run 2 on couch 2 5k yesterday.  It is funny tho my husband started it as well I guess seeing me on the treadmill has motivated him to get in shape.  What made me laugh was 15min before his run he ate 6 mini chocolate bars.

My goal is to learn to cook healthier meals for the family not just for me.  parchment paper is my new kick.  Best tasting salmon and chicken I have ever made.  Another no related weight loss goal is to tear apart the house and get it ready for my son to move back home.

linz78 thank you for that poem :)

Good job girls!!! That's fantastic.

Last Week: 161.8

This Week: 162.6

Wrong direction! I was up to 165 yesterday though, so I suppose this is okay. Ever since Halloween I just haven't been able to get it together. I've also been working like crazy. 14 days in a row, one day off, and now I work another 14 days in a row! Having two jobs is SUCH a bitch.

Non food/weight related goal: To save some money each month so I can buy myself my first car by the time I move to go back to school. I'm aiming for $200 a month, and I'd really like to buy one by July. It definitely won't be a really nice car, but as long as it gets from point A to point B, I don't care! I'm just SO sick of walking ten minutes to the bus stop in the freezing cold. I can't even imagine how terrible it's going to be when there's snow on the ground.

hi everyone

sorry to hear about your cat mrsmao and well done on your good result anyway

well heres mine;

last week 159.8

this week 158.8

well i suppose its not too bad, had a bad weekend with loads of pints of beer and a take away. but on the plus side i started going back to the gym this week....

non food related goal is to do well in college exams coming up as i haven't been as dedicated to my study as i should be!

Hey all,

This is my first weigh in:

Last week: 179.7

This week: 181.0!!!

I'm not sure what happened...Monday I weighed myself and was 178.00. I had seen a gradual decrease during the week then BAM...181. I'm thinking it might have something to do with my favorite time of the month (if you know what I mean)--but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I am hoping that it was a fluke and later this week things will be different!

:)

As for a goal: Well, food related, to avoid over eating--especially with sweets. It hasn't been a problem recently...but I always have to keep on top of it! My general life goal is to make it through the last weeks of this semester with school work and my two internships.  I am SOOO ready for the holiday break.

linz78:  I average about 1600-1700 calories a day.  It's just hard for me to go lower than that.  On workout out days it says I burn about 2500 cals. (if I get both my workouts done).  If I just do 1 of them about 2200.  I try to do some kind of workout at least 5-6 days a week.  I know my weight loss has slowed down a bit, but I don't want to lose too fast.  I feel so good after my workouts though.

hey  peoples

Everyone hanging in there.  I kept really busy today. Cleaned the house like crazy, took the dog for a 40min walk, did my couch to 5k run Week 2 Run 3.  And I had bought taebo amped maybe over 6months ago and hadnt tryed it yet.  So I did the first sessions wow talk about kicking my behind... Suppose to do this 3 days on one day off.  But I love the feeling after working out so refreshed.

How is everyone else doing

I had a 'top up' induction at the gym last night as they've been refurbished and have all new equipment so anyone with a gym membership had to have a quick induction on the new stuff. We now have new Precor USA CV equipment, each with its own individual tv screen with Sky, which is a big improvement on the two flat screens on the front wall of the gym we had previously with no sound just subtitles! I'll hardly know I'm working out once I plug my earphones in and watch my favourite programs while I'm off like the clappers on the cross trainer etc. There's a few programmes on Sky next week that I can't watch at home cos I don't have Sky so that seems like a very good incentive to go to the gym lol. I'm all excited over the new equipment which is good cos I was starting to feel a bit 'stale' so it couldn't have come at a better time :)

Good news.

I weighed myself today and was 177.8! So my 181 from the other day must have had something to do with salt, water and my aunt flo who came to visit.

:)

linz78
I know what you mean about the stale working out hence why I am changing it up and adding in taebo into my workout mix.  I do everything at home so sometimes the motivation to work out isnt there.  Have a eliptical treadmill weight machine free weights and taeobo.  If I am really desperate to change it up I have some old VHS tapes susan powter step classes.  My arms are killing me today from doing taebo but I suppose that is a good thing :)  I was only really walking before i started the couch to 5k so getting this excersise bug is a good thing

wedding060609- glad you are seeing the scale go down.

Happy Saturday everyone

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend thus far.  I have to say last night was a cheat night, I had my favorite pizza after not having it for 4-5months.  I ate two peices and wow did I feel ill after.  I guess when you stop eating the garbage when you do eat it again your body gets very angry with you.
