Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)
Hey everyone,
I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.
So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.
So how about it?
Hi there girls!
Have been getting more exercise this week than I have had in along time! It's been snowing alot here and I've been shoveling, also, been to the gym. I'm back to doing the water aerobics and I go a bit earlier so I can get some time on the recumbent bike. Up to 25 minutes now, I know that doesnt sound like much, but with my knees I think it's fantastic! My body is sore, mostly in the arms and chest. (shoveling)
The scales arent cooperating like I think they should!
LW 159.6
TW 159.8
I have also seen 162 a couple of days in between. I'm chalking that up to sodium and water retention! I believe if I keep up with my exercise I will make my goal of 145. I've heard that the last 15-20 lbs are the hardest!
I really understand that chocolate thing! I keep a box of Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Sticks in the house. When I feel like a treat I have one! 60 cals and oh so good! It's not an everyday thing though, maybe 2 or 3 times a wk.
Well snowed again last night so I need to go shovel the deck and sidewalks off. My husband blowed off the driveway before he left for work, bless his heart!
Morning ladies!
LW: 160.4
TW: 157.0!!!
I'm so excited. I've never seen results like that before. Now if only I could find a tape measure I'd be set! I even went to a tailor and asked if they sold them and they said no lol We sell a DVD at my store called Hip Hop Abs and it comes with a tape measure....but it's 40 bucks, even with my discount. Seems a bit much just to get a tape measure, cuz there's no way I'm ready to do a workout tape like that yet haha
Good luck this week everyone!
Morning ladies!!
Start weight 167
LW - Jan 07 - 145.6
TW - Jan 13 - 144.8
HA! a loss of 0.8 of a pound... I will definitely take it!
Zhodes congrats on the loss!! about the tape measure, you should be able to find one at a Walmart, Target or similar store, if you don't have these type of stores nearby try an arts and crafts store or a fabric store.
Congrats Linz, I knew you could do it!! keep adding 100 cals each day until you reach 1600 or 1700, which will make it easier for your body to adjust. I am just so excited for you!!
Chantale1985, aundron, mrsmao, and Nancy, hang in there ok? I am positive that if we all stay the course, we are bound to see the results we want.
Have a great rest of your week!
I had the same problem finding a tape measure so I ended up going on ebay and my new tape measure came yesterday!
Now all I need to do is find out how/where to measure myself :)
Hi everyone. After my enthusiastic beginnings on this thread, the holidays really killed my progress. Sorry I haven't weighed in for a few weeks. I have been embarassingly BAD with my eating, and stopped counting calories altogether around Christmas. I fell prey to all the holiday treats, and didn't bounce back from it as I should have. Still need to tackle the calories, but I'm working out regularly, and my boyfriend and I have started these weekly training walks in preparation for a 50K walk in April. The 8 to 10 mile walks are probably the only reason I haven't gained weight this month.
Starting weight: 205
Weight on 12/17 (last weigh-in!): 202
Current weight: 200
I'm not ready for the tape measure just yet ;-) But hopefully I can re-focus my energy on this a little and get back into a decent routine.
Good morning ladies

Mrs.MaoI watch the biggest loser and I had tears in my eyes that they had to pick the two people that needed it the most, I was amazed to see how far already that the older guy Jerry has come so far in his weight loss journey. Do you watch the show after it? Ruby?
Linz78 - Your welcome for the link and I am happy to see your scale was kind today for you Mine was not budging all week so I was shocked and had to step on and off the scale like 6 times to make sure it was being truthful... talk about obsessive
Chantale Mrs Mao aundron keep on plugging away, the weight will start coming back off you did it before you can do it again :)
Zumo glad you came back to the group :)
Congrats on your loss Zhodes and LossingitI bet your retaining some water around your muscles from all that shovelling snow and uping your exercise
Lynners I think your trip to New Orleans sounds like a great adventure. Good luck on your gym appointment today:)

This week: 165
Yay! A loss!! So happy. Hopefully I can keep on it. :) I was also off my birth control for awhile where I was gaining so my hormones were definitely all out of wack. Everything should be better now.
I'm really looking into getting a dog. The training would distract me from eating, plus I would be forced into getting some exercise! Also looking into potentially starting from couch to 5K. It seems really easy to get started! I was expecting them to want you to just jump right into it.
For you ladies looking for a tape measure, just head to a sewing/craft department at a store. That's where mine came from!
lynners congrats on the loss and Couch to 5k is preety simple I did most of mine on the treadmill and our weather has been lousy. The podcasts made it so easy to follow along without having to do all that much work. The joys of birth control I havent had to take those little pills for umm 15 years wow that makes me old lol.
Nanette
Hi Girls-
I reiterate lynners advice. Any craft/fabric store will have tape measures.
And I'm excited to finally weigh in on a wednesday morning!
So...before Christmas I was about 248.8
After Christmas/new years I've been sitting at 256.4 (GRRRRRRRRR).
This morning - 255.4
A loss of 1.0
I'll take it but I was hoping for more. Although I am retaining water badly for some reason (right now my ankles are a full 1/4 inch bigger around than usual!!!) so I'm hoping that stops and I have a better number next week.
Regardless of what the scale says - I am thrilled that I have done all of my scheduled workouts since I started back to school last week. That is an accomplishment all in itself.
Pbear - thanks for the links for the podcast! I do have an mp3 player (although I am a bit dumb in using it). I'll definitely try that. Yesterday it was kind of dumb trying to remember where I was in my counts and what time I was supposed to stop running or start running again...etc. Oh and congrats on the loss this week!
FOr those of you with a loss this week - congrats! Keep up the great work.
Everyone else - keep your chin up. Remember its a marathon - not a sprint!
Hope you all have a great day!
pbear: I have seen that show Ruby a little. I know she has a struggle ahead of her. When I compare myself to her situation, I should just quit moaning and just do it! I thought Jerry and Estelle looked so good at their update. Have a good one!
hey guys weighing in. today is 203.2 up 2 lbs but ive been doing crazy running and weights so we'll see how permanent that is. hopefully not... ugh
cw:203.2
On a non weight loss related note, my room mate just got a puppy who is 5 months old, not house trained, and was from a pet store so he's definitely used to just doing his business wherever he is. He's cute, in an ugly sort of way, but really dumb haha. House training is NOT going well, but it's only been one day. It's definitely going to take awhile.
lynners puppies are defintly fun I can see two or three things in the house that my dog had chewed as a puppy luckily she learned not to chew my things. She learned the potty training pretty fast but even now if I have been gone to long she occasionally slips up. Get her or him out walking in the outdoors quickly weather permitting of course.. my dog is a non socialized dog and makes for walks very interesting.
On another note I don't know what I need my legs are killing my thighs behind perhaps it was the lunges. I was soo sore i couldnt run yesterday, going to attempt today which kinda throws off my NROLFW so we will see.
Nanette
Nanette, I'm in the same boat! I missed my workout on Tuesday so I decided to do it yesterday and went swimming too.. my butt and legs are KILLING me.. definitely the lunges!
Lynners, about the puppy.. DO NOT try to potty train him/her using puppy pads! use a crate at night and a small room, like the bathroom, during the daytime. I have two dogs, we trained the first one using the crate and it worked wonders! he was trained in less than a week. The second one we got was already trained when we got her but unfortunately she was pad trained. They both go outside and do their business on command (almost) but the problem is that the second one will sometimes just go on the bathroom or kitchen rug because it resembles the pad.. yeah, not fun.
Puppies feel safe in small spaces, so don't think it's cruel to keep him/her in the crate at night or in the bathroom during the day. Make sure the crate is big enough for him/her to turn and stand but not too big because he/she will then get used to going in one of the corners and sleeping in the opposite corner. In the crate, he/she will cry (for sure) at night and when he/she does that or starts scratching, have your roomie take him/her outside where she wants him/her to go potty.. he/she probably won't go at first but will get it eventually and your roomie needs to praise him/her for it.. the rest should be easy. Good luck!!
ETA: forgot to say, give it some time.. yes, there will be some crying, whining, moping happening and the puppy will have it rough too (hehehe) but stick with it. It really takes about a week to see results but the training will last a lifetime!
Unfortunately I don't have much of a say because it's my room mates dog, not mine. Today he actually went into his crate to poop, that was REALLY frustrating.
I agree that he should be kept to a small room while he's training rather than having the run of the house, but again, unfortunately it's not up to me.
The poor dog has also never seen snow before and he's a little rat of a dog (definitely not my type) so walking him isn't much of an option. I doubt the thing has ever even been on a leash.
Lab crosses are definitely something I'm looking into!
Nice work everyone!!

Hello all,
I'm sorry to catecrash but have only just joined the site.
I am 28 years old am 5ft and weigh 205lbs. I seem to have leaped on and fallen off the wagon more times than I can count !.
It is so difficult as I do meet up anf go out with fiends and before you know it you are eating curry with a beer ! But I am really feel that doing this with a bunch of people of similar shape to myself will not only keep me motivated but as other people's results come through it shows that it can be done !
I started my diet 1 week ago and I have started my exersize routine of 1/4 hour on the wii fit 3 days a week and 1 hour of aerobics 3 days a week. I have lost 4lb and am over the moon !
thanks for settingup the thread !
Happy Friday, ladies!
So tonight is my night to close the store, and I've noticed a pattern in my eating. Even if I have my meals all planned out for the day, I still don't come anywhere close to my daily calorie intake by the end of the day. It's like I need to wake up earlier just to eat lol So today, I'm bringing a bag of baby carrots to work to snack on throughout my shift....hopefully they'll keep me full and help me meet my minimum!
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend, and welcome to the newbies!
Welcome new ladies!
Happy Friday to everyone and good luck over the weekend!
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
