Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)
Hey everyone,
I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.
So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.
So how about it?
Hey everyone,
Someone in the forum mentioned high intensity interval training (HIIT). I researched it and it sounds right up my alley. I did my first workout today and it kicked my butt a little bit. Anyway...here's a link to one of the beginner programs I found in case anyone is interested. It appealed to me because it's called the Lose Belly Fat Fast Interval Workout lol:
Hey all-I know my weigh in is late....but this is my first time to get to a computer today!
Last week - 256.8
Wednesday AM - 255.0
1.8 lb loss.....25 lbs total.
Yippee! My scale hasn't budged in two weeks so thank goodness it finally moved downward!!!!!
My mini goal is to get out of the 250's. I want to move that chub down one on the scale!!!!
Congrats to everyone on their effort this past week. Looking forward to the next one!
Hey guys, congratulations on all your acheivements!
I already put my food mini-goal when I weighed in, but I should add my weight mini goal.
I want to get to 160lbs by the 1st of October. That would pretty much be 1lb per week. I'd be happy at 165, but I'd really like 160, and then 150 for Christmas, as I know I'll put on about 6lbs over christmas (thats my yearly norm anyway, I'll try not to this year!!) and i want to still be in the low 150's after Christmas this year.
My exercise minigoal is to use my exercise bike for 30 mins twice a week. I know thats not much, but it kills my knees, and at least its a start! Once I've done that for a few weeks I'll try to do three times, then get up to four permamently.
I weighed myself this morning, just to see...and I was down to 174.8! Holy water weight. I definitely blame my period haha.
Just downed a whole package of Swedish Berries...good for me...so much for that 2 ish pounds!
Yeah well I had 2 nice sized bowls of Cocoa Krispies. That cereal is my crack!! At least its rated "A" for nutrition lol.
This week...I've been spotty with workouts and off my diet. Yesterday, I didn't bring my lunch had an appt and had to get lunch out of the machine. Plus, I didn't log half of my days this week...I had chicken mcnuggets earlier this week. I was reduced to eating a bag of pretzels and a honey bun. I did lift weights twice this week...and I'll do my spin class tomorrow morning. So, it's not a total loss. I had my TOM and it totally got me off course. This is the first time since April that I've had a week-long cheat (not every day-but not eating clean everyday). Hopefully, this week will kick my weight loss into gear on Monday. I was tired this week. So, a week of not doing my usual 3 days weight-lifting/4-5 days cardio might be a good thing. Sorry for the long rambling post....I just had to vent! I've been hovering at 261-264 for 2 weeks. I'd LOVE to move into the 250's (259.9 would even work).
Mini-Goal for Next Week: Eat Clean every day; get back to workout schedule; hopefully lose 1 lb
We should a exercise/water challenge or something. Something to end the end of summer with a bang! :-)
I am really not awake this morning. I usually eat 1/3 a cup of oatmeal in the morning with a single tbsp of brown sugar. Well, instead, I measured out 1/2 a cup and a bit, thinking it was equal to 1/3 (my 1/3 measuring cup was in the sink). I have a degree! I took math courses! This isn't going to be a good day, I can tell. :P
HAPPY FRIDAY!!! ![]()
I love reading everyone's progress and mini goals... very inspirational!
You made me giggle, lynners. I can totally relate, being the opposite of a morning person that I am. One morning I stood there groggily free-pouring (!)milk into my cereal before I snapped to my senses out of pure shock.
Well, I did it! I exercised for 35 minutes yesterday (a walk aerobics DVD). Man, I thought I was going to pull a muscle there in the end. My body just stopped cooperating. It's amazing how out of shape the body can get in just two weeks. Jeez! 2 more workouts to go in order to meet my mini-goal.
I bought the prunes, and can I just say... WOW! I can't believe I've been living without these scrumptuous little nuggets of sugary goodness. I've been eating a 60-cal pack of them for an afternoon pick-me-up, and actually looking forward to it. Haha.
It's my turn next week for the dreaded TOM. I'll probably be 3 pounds heavier on weigh-in day, grrrr. But I'm gonna keep on trucking!
Boyfriend is taking me out to eat tonight, so I suggested Jason's Deli for the delicious salad bar. And he suggested a movie, but little does he know that he's going to get dragged to mini-golf and skeeball to work off some of those calories. *evil laugh*
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Good morning everybody! Well, last night was not an A+ for nutrition. Let me say that I kind of had an excuse.
Our air conditioning went out and in the middle of the country it is HOT right now. I didn't want to cook. So, we got pizza from Pizza Hut (large thin and crispy pepperoni). That is my weakness (as far as pizza goes)
So anyway, in addition to the pizza I had to have a 2nd Diet Pepsi for the day and I was trying to have only 1 a day. So I blew that for yesterday, but today I will be better.
I just hope we can get our air conditioner going again, cuz we had to sleep in the basement last night on our mattresses. Oh, but I did walk on my treadmill for 30 minutes, so I did 1 good thing last night.
Have a great weekend and try to stay cool. I have a feeling we'll be living in our pool today.
I have a long term goal of reaching 135.
I have a middle term goals to reach 166 and be out of the obese category.
I also have a constant daily goal/watch of hitting the next number down on the scale. Every pound off now is a new low for me since 1989, heck even before that, since I was a young teenager. At the moment I am on the lookout for 175. I think I will see it before next Wednesday. I hope I do.
I am not sure if this is a good thing or not, but I think it helps me stay motivated, so that part is good. :)

OH MY GOODNESS! I'm you! ok, check this out.. I started at 173 (although I remember weighing 175 a few days before I officially re-started CC'ing), I am currently at 166 (today) and my goal weight is 135 (by the end of this year)! I am 5'4" and am turning 32 in a couple of weeks.. =)
Even though it's only been 7 pounds, I feel lighter and people are starting to notice! BTW, it's taken me almost 6 weeks to get here... Best of luck with reaching 175 - I will be looking out for your progress!

Wooo hoooo!!! congratulations on reaching 175! yes it does feel great.. and I am soo looking forward to breaking the 160's.. but right now, I will focus on getting to 165 by next week... yeah! let's do this!
Good morning all! I 've also had a rough week were workouts are concerned...but I did get a couple nice walks in (since I was only able to get to the gym one time).
I had a victory last night though. Every summer (for about 7 years) I've been part of a group that goes to see these plays in the park. Last summer, I was at my highest weight EVER (280) and the theater in the park is at the top of a very steep hill. As you go up the hill, you are also dragging whatever items you are contributing to the picnic, the portable table, a blanket, water bottle, and usually a bottle of wine and whatever else you may have included that evening. So all told, I was probably dragging 300 + lbs up that hill. I would get to the top and literally be panting. One of my friends would try to greet me and start talking and I couldn't get a word out. In fact, I usually would stop near the top of the hill to try and catch a little breath before going up to the friends. I HATE being the fat, out of shape friend!
So last night there I was trucking up the hill...dragging all my stuff through the grass and dirt....and got to the top of the hill...without stopping...and I wasn't panting at all! I could have a normal conversation without being out of breath or anything.
Sometimes the weight moves downward so slowly and you don't notice the difference in the clothes and such....but I sure noticed that last night. All that working out IS makin a difference. And since the man of my dreams runs half marathons and such...it is nice to know that I can walk up a hill without DYING. :-)
Anyway, just thought I'd share my small success!
Hope you are all having a great weekend...see you all on Wednesday!
Good for you jesusgirl! That's definitely motivation.
I need a kick in the pants. I lost had lost close to 2 lbs when I weighed myself the other morning, and I was shocked, because I definitely haven't been eating that well. Still eating cake, candy, etc...although in significantly smaller quantities than before. The only exercise I get is short walks every now and then.
Anyway, since seeing that weight loss with minimal effort, I've been increasingly bad about what I'm eating...I think I should jump on the scale again tomorrow to give myself a reality check! But I am noticing that my clothes are no longer super tight...just tight.
Well...that's my recent update.
lynners....I wish I could lose weight with minimal effort. LOL It seems that if I skip one day of exercise or eat bad one day...I gain 3 lbs! My body definitely doesn't work well with the "one cheat day a week" method So frustrating-but I keep plugging along.
Congrats to you too...I tried on some pants this morning that I haven't worn in 4 years...and they too were "just a bit tight" rather than "oh my god I can't even pull them up" tight. :-)
Keep up the effort and give yourself some grace. We can't be perfect every day. :-)
I have a feeling that the weight loss was a result of shedding excess water since my "time of the month" had just ended. But, I'm going to jump on the scale tomorrow and give myself a wake up call. I have managed to eat a whopping 2400 calories today. Not good.
Does anyone here take measurements?
Original Post by lynners:Does anyone here take measurements?
yes, i am so glad i took my measurments when I was up at 230+ and throughout my weightloss.
Lynn get on that scale! lol
I am with you Jesusgirl; if I don't watch each day I can have a hard time losing. I try to stay focused all the time. I have moments I do enjoy treats, but I make sure they fit my calories each day.
I took measurements for the first time ever last night. How often should I re-measure? Monthly? Weekly seems like it would be overkill, since I'm not expecting to lose inches in just a week.
Why am I so thirsty all of the time?
Severe thirst is a symptom of a several medical conditions including diabetes, pituitary gland problems, and diseases associated with the loss of fluid... Read more
