Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)
Hey everyone,
I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.
So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.
So how about it?
Hey guys!
Omg I have had a bad weekend calorie wise. I went home to Scotland for a party, and ended up eating out three days in a row (and bad choices all times), drinkinag a ton of champagne and doing no exercise. Plus this week I'm going to a five day beer festival, so by next week I'm going to have put on a ton and it'll be that time of the month, so I'll be a mammoth! I won't be around for weigh in, so good luck!
Lynners, I tend to take my measurements once a month, and to do them in cm, because even half a cm less is great, and its more motivating to go from 40cm to 39 cm than it would be to go from say 26.5 inches to 26.3 inches!
Interesting, I like that idea! Thanks :)

That made me LOL. I'm jealous..sounds fun! Enjoy yourself!
I didn't have to go to Scotland to have too much food fun this weekend. I have two things to say: chili dogs and pulled pork sandwiches! Yeah..so that's over and I was up 2 lbs this morning but it's only temporary. So I have no idea what this week's weigh-in has in store for me...we'll see!
I'm in! I'm only 5'1" and would love to lose 60 pounds, but more would be wonderful.

I took measurements for the first time ever last night. How often should I re-measure? Monthly? Weekly seems like it would be overkill, since I'm not expecting to lose inches in just a week.
Either Monthly or every 4 weeks is a good time period for taking measurments. I am going to take mine this week sometime and then again at the end of the month.

Hahaha, that cracked me up. I also did a very good job of staying in one place and consuming too many calories. It was kind of like an avalanche of dodgy choices this past weekend. I definitely drank too much.
But it's weird... since I've made this change in my life, I can't seem to just go all out anymore, which leads to strange food logs (e.g., steamed veggies with a slice of chocolate cake, haha). And Saturday I was standing there with a salad piled with cheese and bacon bits and checking out labels on salad dressings.
mrsmao: I REALLY hope your AC is back to pumping out that cool air by now!!!
jesusgirl: Very motivational story!
Lmao, I don't usually have to go to Scotland to make bad choices, but it is the land of deep fried pizza, mars bars and pies!
Well I thought I might as well weigh in early since I'm beer festing from tomorrow.
Last Week - 170
This Week - 170
So, I guess i can't complain as I've been really terrible. My bf and I have already agreed at least a fortnight of very plain eating after the beer fest to get me back on track (you know, meat and steamed veg for dinner and stuff like that, no rich sauces, no cheese even if it is half fat) so hopefully after sat when the fest finishes I'll be back on target. If I can maintain this week I'll be delighted, to be honest. So
Mini food goal this week - to remember that drinking lots of little glasses of delicious beers does not mean that I have to eat more meals than normal, even if there are organic hog roasts available! And its no excuse for skipping on nutrients - I still need to have my five a day of veg, drink fruit juice and milk with meals etc. I guess on the plus side, its basically days of walking around too, which I don't normally do, so I might offset the alcohol a little with the exercise. This is the first great test of my diet - I have to pass :P
And by the way, what on earth is pulled pork??? Whatever it is, we either don't have it in the uk or it has a very different name here!!

Pulled pork is like a pork roast shredded or the meat is pulled apart by hand. So instead of a chunk of meat it's all shredded up. It's then usually slathered with barbeque sauce. It's really good!
Oooh, that sounds like my kind of meat! I was expecting it to be something a lot more processed!
So it sounds like we all had rough weekends. I had guests, and you all know how that goes.
Anyone have some suggestions for weekend after next? I'm going to a gaming convention (roleplaying games, though they have card games, miniatures, etc), and convention center food is iffy. I'm finding out today if my hotel has mini-fridges, and I'm planning on packing easily transportable snacks, but I suspect I'll also be dining on convention center food at least a little. If nothing else, it'll be to get a hot meal - four days of cold cuts would definitely have a psychological impact. :)
beckabooey: Yes, the AC got fixed the next day, but it took awhile to catch up because it was so freakin hot!
I've been doing pretty good this week, but I started my TOM and I hope I don't retain water this week. We'll see tomorrow.
Yesterday I went almost the whole day and realized I didn't have any Diet Pepsi. I don't know if any of you are addicted to that stuff, but for me it is wonderful not to feel like I need it.
Talk to you all tomorrow! Have a great day.
krilia: If your hotel has a mini-fridge maybe bring along a bag of salad and some lowfat yogurts to snack on. You can maybe carry baggies with healthy snacks in your purse to snack on during the convention. It sounds like a lot of fun!

You could also precook some chicken breasts, pre hardboil some eggs, bring snack bags of almonds, anything for some variety!
Sadly, looking at their website, it looks like no fridge. Blast. I'll definitely be packing snacks (nuts sound good - can't squish them, for one, heh - not too many, obviously).
I AM all set in one way, though. I got myself a pedometer, so I can try and figure out how many calories I'm burning walking across all of creation. I'm also VERY happy that I've been going for walks as many days as I can. While I realize it's not a hefty exercise, I think my stamina will be a lot better for getting across the convention center. Heck, maybe between now and then I'll try to bump up to two fifteen minute walks a day.
Is everyone ready for tomorrow's weigh-in? I am a bit excited. I was down earlier this week so I am crossing my fingers that it shows up tomorrow. I was 177.2 last Wednesday and I saw 2&1/2 pounds disappear from my scale a couple days ago (174.6 to be exact). Now that can just be a drop from retaining water for TOM, which is good cause it won't come back (at least not until next month, lol) or it could of been some fluke. So I have no clue what number I will see tomorrow. But I am excited for a low one.
Krilla, I think you might be surprised at the food, unless you already know and I missed it in an earlier post, becasue today more and more you see healthy options to choose from in addition to the naughty ones. The desserts are my downfall for sure. If you do splurge, have something good in my name plz..lol
Pulled pork, yum!
I'm a little bit excited for tomorrow's weigh in. When I weighed in last Wednesday I noted 176.8 I think? And I've definitely seen some weight disappear. I better be good tonight so that I don't screw it all up!
Last week 154.4
This week 154.0
Not much weight loss, but I'll take it.
Last week: 176
This week: 172.8!!!!!
Yay water loss. I still feel like I've been eating like a pig, but apparently not. Today will be a good day.
Last week: 190 This Week: 190
Hrm. But I weighed myself on Monday and I was 189. (I'm trying to wean myself off the whole bad daily weighing thing by going to every other day.) So is the 190 a fluctuation up? I guess I'll see what I am on Friday. :)
175.2 great.... that is 2 pounds from last Wednesday so I am thrilled indeed.
My mini goals were met for the week and I kept to my calorie allotment so I am going for the same next week; 60 mins of cardio a day (pref 2 @30 mins each) and a muscle workout 3 times this week. I have a variety of workout DVD's; Walking w/leslie sansone, aerobics & more w/Gilad, the firm tapes w/transfirmer, Billy Banks T-BO, and there are endless shows on TV. I love to have options when I get bored with something. It has kept me motivated to workout, when I am committed to do so. I just wanted to pass along the great workout I did yesterday. It was Gilad, OMG he is so great to work out with, he encourages you throughout the whole thing, keeps you mindful of your body position. I love him. I bought his "Classic collection" 10 pack of DVD's a few years ago and it is a great variety of workouts. Yesterday I did his "Sculpt & Tone" one, that is my current fav. I am going to do the DVD again during this week. He is definitely worth the money.
Lynn OMG you are doing PDG (pretty darn good) over there. 4 pounds in one week! Great job!
Good luck to all
