Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

hey there...am i ok to join this group? my names kitty and my starting weight was 202 alst week...

this week i weight myself when i got up and i was 204....how ever i did it again when i returned from a job interview and gym and i was 201!!...

Hey all!  I asked if I could join a while back and then I have just been hiding and reading posts.  I've lost over 12 pounds since joining CC in April.  It is slow going, but I'm not going to complain.  I participated in the Biggest Loser 11 Challenge and I loved it.  I would definitely encourage anyone who would like the support to join a future challenge.  Anyway, I'm at 186 for now.  I'll probably go back into hiding until the end of the next challenge.  Between working 2 jobs and taking salsa lessons, I barely have time to use this site for anything beyond the calorie meter!

Welcome Kitty and Bhmoore!  Congrats on your losses so far.

BH, will I see you on BLC12?  I was trying to hard to break into the 180's during BLC 11 but I just couldn't get below 191, and of course as it happens on the off week in between the challenges I hit 188!

I'm going camping this weekend so I won't be near a computer for a few days, good luck to everyone and have a great weekend!

Once again...forgot to post on Wed.

SW 170.4 this group 7/23/08

LW 149.2 7/1/09

TW 149.8 7/8/09

Did see 148.6 on Monday 7/6. Not sure why the 1.2 lb weight gain in 2 days, have been sticking to my "diet" very religiously.

Was a bit concerned I might start binge eating, Thurs 7/2 through the wkwnd, but I held my ground and used the tools I've learned through this site and LAWL.

I got a call Thursday afternoon about 330pm from my hubby. He asked me to come pick him up from work. He told me the company he works for had just closed their doors and would be filing bankruptcy!Cry ( JUST 1 wk ago, today!)

My husband, Brian, is an HVAC service tech. His company has been struggling for about 5 yrs, now. They had done a couple major construction projects and had to sue to get the money owed them. The owners son went through a messy divorce and funds disappeared!( His wife had worked in the office)

Brian was getting pretty grouchy and depressed over the wkend. First thing Monday, he went to the union hall and unemployment ofc. While he was gone I got a call from 3 different mechanical company's wanting to offer Brian a job! He met with the first one that called and they offered him everything he had before, at Accurate, he took the job! Yeah!!!!

Now I have my happy go-lucky hubby back! Wink

Luckily, we were spared having to get into savings to make ends meet. Both the kids will continue attending the colleges or their choice, and we still get to go on vacation the 25th of this month!

Gotta go - time to get ready for work!

Thank you Lord, we are truly blessed.

Wow, Losingit!  That is an awesome story of God taking care of you!  When we hear all the bad news about places closing, it is so nice to hear about God's blessings!

Jodifer - Yes, I am definitely doing BLC12!  I loved BLC11 and my team (The green team) kicked butt.  I think a good part of that was because we had a lot of team unity right from the beginning.  I'm excited to see who will be on my team for the new challenge.  Who knows, maybe we'll be on the same team!

Just returned from LAWL weigh in. Had to share the news - drum roll, PLEASE!

Today's weight 147.0 Yippie! Lowest weight so far! Staying focused is paying off!

Sorry for the bragging, but I am so hyped!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed weekend! Drink your 8/8 oz glasses of water to stay hydrated, and be careful out there! (sorry, it's the Mom coming out in me)

I'm 5'4 18 yrs old and 170 lbs,i want to lose 43 pounds, i want to be motivated to loose my weight!

hey. jsut rejoined cc for the first time in months.  i will try to be good and get on here to comment and lend some support, but i am kind of terrible.

i am 5'2" and weight 159. i put on some weight to play rugby and while i had a blast my face is fatter and so is the rest of me.  i want my old body back and i want a better body! currently joined a gym and i am going to start my PT sessions soon.  i tried nutrisystem, but it made me sick. i am going to start counting on my own.  i am ready to make the transformation and i am ready to lose the weight.  i want to be sexier, stronger, healthier, and a better me.

i am off my soap box. hahahaha.

I feel sooo good lately. Still no scale, but I've been walking and eating SO much better. The last couple days there have been some not so healthy choices, but it's all been in moderation. No binging!

Keep up the good work ladies!

i'm 5'4 and i weigh 139, trying to weigh 95

I know the official weigh in is tomorrow, but I just had to share that despite the disastrous camping weekend filled with franks, beans & smores I managed to only gain 1lb.  I'm hoping it's water from the franks...see you all tomorrow!

Sounds like me!

I'm 33 and a mom of 5 kids 13 to 3! I am at an all time high of 227 and i'm only 5'4. I've never been this big although i've struggled with my weight ever since I started having children. I had an eating disorder (purging anorexic) as a teen and young adult and have a hard time with relaps when I diet even now. I saw a pic of myself recently and consequently I freaked out! Now I'm at it agian and trying not to restrict too much. I also battle depression and OCD and would love support from others like me!

is it too late to join?

I'm 20, aaaalmost 5'4", and currently 197 as of this morning. i was 202 about a month ago, by biggest being roughly 220 when i was in school.

I recently went to the dr and found out I have rediculously high blood pressure, and even my dr was telling me to lose the weight. Now we're starting to think the blood pressure was from something else, but I would still like to lose the weight anyway.
It would be awesome to actually be able to talk to people in the same boat without someone simply bypassing the conversation = )

Hey Guys!

I joined the group back when it started, but I've been on and off the wagon so much that I see theres loads of new people now, so hello, and I thought I should post as if its the first time I've posted...

I'm 5 feet tall exactly, and I weight 177 lbs. I originally weighed 190 when I joined cc, and got down to 166 last November (was feeling really good too). I took some time off for Christmas, and since then I've been back to yo-yoing. So this is a proper attempt to get back into it. I have a knee problem which I'll need knee replacements for eventually so I find it difficult exercise, and when my knees are bad I get into a bad cycle of comfort eating, then wieghing more puts more pressure on my knees so I comfort eat more.... and on and on. So I'm on a "feel good" wagon at the moment. I'm trying to get my wieght moving down again, eat lots of fruit, make more of an effort to look nice/do my hair etc so that I feel more positive and less like curling up on the sofa with a big bag of crisps. Taking my current weight as my starting weight since its so long since I logged my cals.

SW - 177

GW - 150 (130 in the long run, but 150 to start with)

Mini goal fo this week - to get my 5 a day fruit and veg, up my fibre intake and drink a lot of water.

PS great to see the people who have stuck with it are all doing so well!!

Hey all, just like holfisher, I was also a 'founding' member but have been a little lax about posting (and counting!) but would like to get back to it and think it deserves some reintroduction! Although my eating could be better, I have miraculously remained at the same weight basically since around February.. So here it is;

Height: 5'4.5" (yes, the .5" counts! jajaja)
SW: 178lbs - June 2008
CW: 144lbs - June 2009
GW: 135lbs - hopefully by the end of the year!!
Age: 32yrs old

My weight today is of 143.4lbs, which seems to be the normal fluctuation for me these days. I will get excited once I see anything below 143 on the scale!

So what is everyone doing for exercise? I walk and run 3 days a week (each) and just started doing the NROL4W program (again). I try to take Sundays off from actually working out but it's rarely a complete rest day as I go to the beach and swim or do some other sort of outdoor activity..

Well, good luck everyone!!

I've been lax about posting too (I've been counting during the week...but those blasted weekends...ack!)

So here it is!

Height: 5'4"
SW: 232 (March 2008)
LW: 191 (2 weeks ago)
CW: 188 (Yippeee!!!!!)

GW: 145ish

Age: 37

I've been eating really well but I've been slacking off on the exercise.  I'm hoping to get back in the groove soon!

147.0 last Friday and today, also. Glad to see I am at least maintaining after some of the choices this wkend! (Ate out 2x, once at Arby's with Hubby - the other at Jimmy John's with daughter. CC'ed it when I got home and OMG! I thought JJ's would be healthy - not at all!)

jodi- congrats on the 80's. Hope you had a good time camping! I wish I could get hubby to camp, I love being outdoors! He loves tv and air conditioning! lol

lynners - good job enjoying in moderation!

holsfisher and v_avila- WELCOME BACK!!!! I was sooo glad to see some of the "originals" post. Saw this quote on another site and I've adopted it. "Don't get discouraged, it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock." - unknown

eidolah, crazymom, kitty - Welcome to the newbies. Weigh in day is Wed. If you haven't already, I encourage you to take your starting measurements. They will pay off! Sometimes the scales don't seem to be moving as fast as we would like, but the inches may still be coming off.( I found this extremely encouraging when I was stalled in the 160's for like 5 months!)

Have a happy sunny day! Cool

Nancy

Loosingit57 we had a really good time camping.  I'm happy to see that the hiking and swimming made up for the smores binge!  I'm not a big wilderness gal, but after 8 years of girl scouts I can rough it for a few days once a year.  The only problem is that I've been such a good sport at it that now my hubby wants to buy a camper!  ha ha!

Welcome back holfisher and v_avila!!!

Thanks for reminding me about measurements loosingit57. I really should be doing that especially since I'm without a scale for who the heck knows how long! I could buy another one....but I have two at my old place...such a waste of money.

On a good note, I started RUNNING! With the new foster pooch. It tuckers her out soooo much better than a walk, and leave me free to do things I need to do without throwing a ball and being pestered for hours on end :P. They aren't long runs right now. And it's more of an interval sort of thing. But I LOVE it. I had myself convinced that I hated running, but it's not true at all. I've gone the past two nights, and hopefully I can keep it up. :)

SW: 220 (1/28/09)

CW: 165.3

GW: 130

Height - 5'4 ...if I stand up really really straight!

Hi All! Been lurking on this site for a bit and figured its about time I *officially* join in! I see some friendly faces from the Biggest Loser Challenges- -hi Jodi! - and my new teammate, bhmoore!

Jodi - woo hoo...glad the camping trip helped bring in a fun surprise at weigh in! But don' be surprised if  a camper does pull into your drive under the guise that its good for you:) Looks like you made that final break into the '80's - congrats!

Look forward to getting to know the newbies and the 'founding' crew!
