Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

Hello everyone! I just found this thread. Another shorty here! I'm 4'11 and 33 yrs old. Reading through everyone's posts has been so encouraging! I have been going through a slump myself, but I'm determined not to slide back into my old habits!! I have been on my "life-style change" journey since December, but have only been using c.c. since August, and this is my first post in the forums.

Linz78: Hugs to you - I hope this week is going better for you. One of our ferrets was an adrenal gland disease survivor, only to succumb to lymphosarcoma a year later. Good luck on the job interview!

Makphyl: Congratulations! It must feel great to be so close!

I would love to join your group here :) After reading so many great posts I am now motivated to go get my workout in, lol.

Hey, I'm 5'2 and currently weigh 177, I started out Sept 21 @ 185.....We can do this!!!

BTW, how do I join??

Wow...I've been away awhile. I'm SO happy and proud of those of you who have stuck it out!

I've gained everything back. And I'm no where near ready to start trying again.

Thank you to pbear123 and lillysmominpa for adding me as friends! It reminded me of this group and the wonderful ladies here...otherwise I probably never would have popped in again.

Happy Weigh-in Wednesday, Ladies!

I'm trying to figure out this latest phase of loss in terms of calories in/out- - I had it down to a science the from Feb thru about Sept, but now its getting a little confusing. I started training for a half marathon, and now that the 'long' run days have become truly long, I seem out of whack.   Lots of calories burned (but not 100% accurate of exact amount b/c I can't use my heart rate monitor with my Nike Ipod training gadget), sometimes totally ravenous and other times not at all.  Lose teensy amounts one week, and then big jumps the next. Its been difficult to find that balance of staying properly 'fueled' while still focusing on loss. Hmm...although I guess its a good sign that I'm thinking of food as fuel and what makes it work best.

Welcome Newbies! Daejahvu - you joined just by jumping in here! We weigh in on Wednesdays. Just use the format that I used below to weigh in and track your movement. Feel free to tell us a little about yourself and post throughout the week as well.

Lynners - thanks for starting the group! Well, you know where to find everyone when you're  ready to start again and good luck maintaining until then!! We've all been there with the ups and downs before and you know how important it it to mentally be in the right place to start up again - the emotional energy is important.

Good morning everyone! Since I just weighed in 2 days ago I don't have any new progress to report, but I wanted to post for accountability sake anyway, lol.

makphly: That is exactly how I try to view food - as fuel, and I try to chose the most efficient "fuel" that will help my body run at its best. This has been a crucial change for me because I have a long history of being an emotional stress eater. Sometimes it is a real struggle to maintain this way of thinking, but I truly believe it is my key to being able to succeed. So, yes, it is an AWESOME sign that you are thinking in those terms! Your story is a real inspiration :)

lynners: Yes, thank you for starting this group! I have been in your situation more times than I care to admit. I agree with makphly that a person has to be mentally and emotionally ready. I know I am a newbie, but this thread has already been a real inspiration to me. Good luck to you!

Happy weight-in.  And woo-hooo broke the 150 mark this past week.  Last Wed. I talked about complacency was setting in but seeing the scale dip below 150 gave me the jolt I  needed, that and a new project.  I really enjoy cooking and baking.  Cooking is fine, but baking is always a problem so last week I decided to start experimenting with ways to make better for me bake goods.  I'm tracking my results on a blog (please forgive my self promotion http://icansodothat.blogspot.com

Lynners,  I'm new as well and also wanted to thank you for starting this group, and I totally know how you feel.  A few years ago I lost 25 lbs and then over the course of two years gained it all back.  I knew it was happening and yet felt held back by the feeling of "I have to do all that over again."  But, it's so true  when you're ready you'll start again, you will and be more successful for being in the right frame of mind.  Good luck.

Thank you ladies for your kind words and encouragement! I know where to find support when I'm ready again. :)

Hey everyone, hope everyone is still well and keeping motivated. Well I've got through my first week of unemployment, unfortunately the interview fell through as the company offered the position to a family friend apparently. So much for equal opportunities eh.....

I seem to have managed to get myself into a routine though and continued my healthy eating and gym workouts. Also trying to benefit from not sitting behind a desk for 8 hours a day and take my dogs for walks, do house work etc. My knee is still giving me problems but is a bit better than before so I'm managing. I've not been weighing at all at the minute, seeing the same numbers can get very demotivating but I'm working out hard so I know it should be doing some good!

Stress still seems determined to follow me around though.....had a letter from my housing association who I rent my house from saying they're going to come and do a routine inspection. Had a glance through my tenancy agreement which I haven't looked at for 4 years and it says I need written permission to erect a shed and suchlike in my garden. Which I didn't think about before I had my 17ft ferret enclosure built to house my 36 ferrets they also don't exactly know about (they know about my dogs and are fine about that). So now I'm panicking about the possibility of them objecting to my ferrets/ferret run. The association does have a policy of so long as you don't cause a nuisence or any damage they're happy to leave you alone so I'm hoping they'll be lenient. The house and garden in general look a hell of a lot better than when I first moved in and its not like I'm drug dealing or anything. Annoying part is the visit will be suprise and unnanounced (to catch out any rule breakers) so I'll be stressing out til they eventually turn up :(

nandmconover1234: sorry to hear about your little ferret.....they're such little cancer magnets are ferrets :( I've been lucky and *touch wood* not had any adrenal cases so far....its less common in the uk, which is thought to be linked to leaving neutering until the ferret is more mature. You gotta love ferrets though.....such addictive little creatures :)

Right, dinner time I think and then spend the rest of my lazy sunday relaxing. Next week I won't have much time to relax....need to keep my house looking like the most immaculate house the housing association has ever seen when they spring their suprise visit. Good calorie burner I suppose.....

Hi everyone,

I'm new here!  I'm 5'5" and I just started my weight loss journey today.  I weigh 180 lbs. and my goal is between 120-130, so I have a ways to go.  My goal weight might change though, because I look smaller than I really am so I might look unhealthy with 60 pounds off.  I guess I'll decide when I get closer.

I'm really inspired by everyone's stories so far!  Keep it up! :)

Cheers!

Chriscy

Hi, I'm Amy,  I'm 35 years old and I made my lifestyle change on 8/29.  My goal is to lose 104 lbs and then reassess if I want to lose any more.  I'll have a healthy bmi and waist circumference at that point for the first time since I was a little kid.

Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is doing well!

As hard as I worked this week, you would think the scale would have been nicer to me, lol! But at least it is a loss and not a gain, so I'll take it. I just added strength training to my exercise program so I honestly thought I might show a gain. I just found out that I have a formal dinner party to go to in 3 weeks and I am right in between dress sizes right now, so I'm hoping to be able to finish getting to that next size so I can find one that fits!

Linz78: Yes, ferrets are very addictive little guys! 36....wow! Hubby cut me off at three - can't imagine having the energy to keep up with as many as you! We built a really cool run/play house for ours as well. They really were alot of fun, and great little companions. When the kids are older I would love to adopt some again. I totally agree with waiting until they are older to spay/neuter. It is absolutely ridiculous how young they are do that here :( Good luck on your inspection!

Welcome to all the other new comers!

i have a bit of a newbie question - what do those acronyms stand for? i assme SW is starting weight, CW is current weight and GW is goal weight - what's LW?

thanks! :)

Hey Chriscykwan! I am new here, too, but I am pretty sure that LW means "last weigh-in, last weight, etc" or something to that effect...basically, the most current weight before today's weight. Or at least that is how I use it, lol :)

Hi everyone!

I'd like to get started on here too! I need to check in with people once a week in order to get motivated!

gonna_make_it_happen--wow - -cutting out just the soda really made a difference!

nadonmconover - -formal stuff used to give me such total anxiety attacks when it came to clothes - how fun that you will be able to enjoy the shopping experience for your dinner!

Woohoo everyone!  Keep up the good work.

I was traveling for work last week and thought I had really stepped in it because while I was being somewhat careful about what I was eating, I just ate what was there and it wasn't my usual salads, chicken, veggies; it was potatos (mmmm), gravy (mmmmm), pastries...and there wasn't a gym in my hotel.  So...since I had been plateauing for about 3 weeks anyways, I was not optimistic when I weighed in yesterday.  And then...
