Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

Happy weight in day at least I hope has been a happy one for you.  My big challenge this week was a double date on Tuesday.  I was introduced to ethiopian food and my oh my it was soooo good.  However, not the easiest thing to find nutritional information on.  Still, I think I did well.  I made Tuesday a maintenance day which I hadn't had in awhile and I'm pretty sure I stayed around there.  Weight went down so either I stayed around maintenance or the damage hasn't shown up on the scale yet. :)  Challenge for the coming week - get back to drinking water.  I've been bad about that one lately.

Hi Ladies! Everyone survive Halloween?! I intentionally didn't buy it until the actual day and had to leave about an hour before the kids stopped, so it was a good excuse to dump all of my remaining candy into my neighbor's bucket and thus not need to deal with it later. WHatever strategy works! (although I did keep a handful and have stretched it out a piece a day!)

myksgirl - last 12 pounds?! That's great - you are so close!

Tammy - I'm uber impressed you lost weight with so much work travel - that is so hard! Work travel is how I gained a ton of weight initially and battled ever since...you awe me!

I'm coming along, slowly but surely! I've got a few people I work with to become gym rats with me, it's such a good feeling to have so many people, not only here on CC, but at work cheering each other on!! Laughing

The weekend was tough for me - we were out of town Friday thru Sunday with nothing but fast food and concession stands around. I was up to 167.5 by Monday morning so I got back on it and am now back down to my 165.5. The weekends are so hard especially when I'm traveling, which I am doing again next week! Arg! Gotta stay on track!

Hi all. I see everyone is making progress, congrats! Haven't posted for a couple weeks. I've been in the process of moving, now that my stress is down a bit I'm back to working toward my goal. Luckily not counting calories during that time didn't hinder my weight loss much, just stalled it. A few pairs of pants that were the next size down I can get in to now! Can't wait till I can move down another size. All the clothes I used to wear have been all by their lonesome in totes as I've refused to get rid of them. It would be nice to start getting them out soon

Bout 6 lbs down, 35 lbs to go (whew)

Keep on keeping on ppl!

Hello everyone.  Well, for me Halloween came and went like nothing ever happened.  The building I'm in doesn't have a lot of kids -- if any -- so there were no trick or treaters.  I didn't buy any candy.  Also, I'm very excited because I'm close to creating a scone recipe under 200 calories.   I whipped up a new recipe yesterday that is still over a touch over 200, but the texture and taste were just about right. So, I think next test I'll nail it.  Scones and tea here I come.

Goal for the week get back into exercising. I've been a slacker lately. Also, I still need to drink more water.

Hello, I am new here.  I am 5'2 and currently weigh 174.4, I am 28 and a stay at home mom to two little girls- one will be 2 next month, the other is 9 mo.  I started CC about a month ago at 181.5.  It has been slow going, but I have learned alot about calories and metabolism.  My ultimate goal weight is 120.  I am prepared for this journey to take a LONG time... maybe even two years.  But as I see it the slower it comes off the better chance I have of kepping it off.

It seems like Wednesdays are weigh in days around here. So I will post again next wednesday.  I am so glad i found this group/thread.  The other short group is full of people who are already at my goal weight!!  BTW have you thought about making this an actual group?  I only found it b/c I was reading someone's success story and went to thier profile page.

Weight-in day already?  How does the time go by so quickly?

My goals for this week are the same as last:  back into exercising and more water. Maybe it's the winter months -- even though I don't experience much of a winter in LA -- that is creating such a lack of motivation. :)

Hi All! Sorry, I missed last week...!

So I hope to have some good fitness news for next week...am running my first half marathon on Sunday! I'm really looking forward to it - while losing the weight has been fun from a visual perspective, I love seeing the difference in my strength and fitness. Last winter/spring, I was walking...mid-late spring, I started the Couch to 5K program...and next week the halfer.  Who knows what next year will bring...

Good Morning!!

makphl: CONGRADULATIONS on you loss!! Good luck on the running!!

So, I thought I didn't lose any weight this past week.  I think I over did it this weekend with Chinese food, and was pretty sure I had maintained.  (Not that there is anything wrong with maintaining.)  Then I come on here and see my weight-in for last week.  Turns out I lost almost a pound.

Makphl congratulations on your weight loss and your upcoming 1/2 marathon.

Just got back from a week on vacation with nothing but eating out. I tried to walk everyday and go swimming when the weather was nice. We did eat out for almost every meal so I was dreading the scale this morning but I crossed my fingers and got on anyway - I gained 1 pound! I know it's not good to gain but I was pretty excited it wasn't more! I'm hitting the gym tonight and getting back on that weight loss train! Cool

Way to go everyone!  Makpahl, WOW!  You Rock!  I've been on non-stop travel for almost the past month.  Exercise has been sporadic.  I haven't been able to keep very good track of calories.  I was prepared for dismal failure this morning.  I was mostly right.

I'm beginning to think that the 193 I experienced two weeks ago was a mirage...I never really hit it because I've now been at 197 for almost 2.5 months...and yet, my clothes are fitting MUCH differently.  I have dropped two pants sizes in those same 2.5 months, so something's changing, just not the scale!

I'm traveling again starting Friday so it will be hard again, but I think I'm teaching myself moderation (please let it be so!!!) and thus not really inclined to overindulge or binge like I used to.

I should be able to monitor intake better even though I will be traveling.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Good luck everyone--

Tammy

I'm definitely in need of support and encouragement!  Just started this journey a few weeks ago after many failed attempts.  I'm 5'2.5", 217, and 33 years old.  My steady weight gain was from hormonal issues that gave me intense cravings, lack of energy, depression etc.  Started taking vitamins on doctor's orders (VB6, VE, and Magnesium) and it has worked like a charm.  Cravings completely gone!  Appetite is naturally supressed and I've lost 3 pounds due to eating smaller portions of whatever I want (try to stick to the 90/10 plan - 90% good stuff, 10% splurges), keep my calories at about 1400-1500 and burn off 500-1000 a day.  I started walking about 45 mins a day on my lunch break a few weeks ago, and started back into doing THE FIRM cardio/strength training last night.  I feel awesome and motivated!  Especially after losing 3 pounds in a week and a half!  I kept going back and forth on two pounds for years.

So, here's to all of us shortys who are doing our best!!!!
