Now before you guys say anything, for me it's less of the actual number and more of how it looks. Because I'm short with a small frame, my weight sort of hangs on me more and despite having muscle, a lot of my weight is fat. I've seen my doctor about my weight loss plans and she encourages me as I'm not growing anymore. I've faced all sorts of criticism on these sorts of forums from just my stats so I'm hoping it won't be that way now.

lidii -I won't criticise YOU.  But you NEED a new doctor.  NO doctor of worth will tell a 14 year old that they have stopped growing.  Growth continues into your 20s.  Your height might not change - but your body and brain will make amazing changes in the next few years.  But only if you have proper nutrition.  Are you even menstruatiing yet?

Eat the right number of calories for your body and keep up with the excercise.  Your body will take shape properly but without danger of malnourishment.

Height: 5'3

Age: 16

Current Weight: 145

Goal Weight: 115

Occupation: student

Calories aiming to eat per day: 1000-1500

Exercises: walking/intense calisthenics.

I lost about 10 pounds and got down to about 130 last summer, then stress made me gain all of it back.

This time, I want to be healthy for life.

What test did your doctor conduct to discover that you were done growing completely, let alone merely height-wise? This hardly seems like something that can be diagnosed at a glance.

I am 4'9" and 26 years old. I stopped growing at 14 as well. I've been to plenty specialist to determine if and why I stopped growing considering I was only 4'9". Yes, I've been this height since I was 14 but the doctor's only said that I would be short in stature. They assured my mom that I was healthy and my height wasn't going to change. I'm 26 and still 4'9". My grandmother stopped growing at 16 and she shot up an inch in her 30's! The human body works in mysterious ways. Maybe in my 30's I will shot up to 5'0' but I'm not counting on it!

lidii's- I'm not going to criticize your diet but if you are an active teen your calories need to match your activity. If you do strength training and less cardio your loose ends will tighten up nicely. If you eat too little your body will go into starvation mode and hold on to the calories.

Current Weight: 123 lbs

Goal Weight: 115

Occupation: High SChool Student

Calories aiming to eat per day: 1500-1600

I guess I could stay I'm semi-active? I walk home from school some days but not many and I do exercise but not as much as other people do.

As for how my doctor can tell I'm not growing anymore, I guess she can tell by looking at my family? I'm not sure, I just know I've been hearing the same thing since I've been 12 and I'm turning 15 this August and so far it's been true. My mom is actually 4'9, and my dad is only 5'2. Both sides of my family are very small in stature and only distant cousins are tall. Also, my arms and legs are very short, and my hands and feet are very small. I can wear a size 3 in kid's shoes.  From all of this I guess it's pretty much safe to agree with my doctor. Like I said, I've talked to her about it and she's told me that my weight range is from 85lb to 120lb and that my optimal weight would be around 95 to 100lbs, which is my goal. And, just like ezzied, I got my period when I was 12.

I would love it if I could somehow gain another inch! The problem with being short is that even if you don't weigh much, it's more obvious if you do. Thank you all for your comments though, I appreciate you guys caring.

I was told at 14 that I would stop growing,
between a combination of anorexia, lack of sleep, and caffeine and sodium consumption I had completely used all of my growth hormones while tapping into reserve energy. I'm 16 now and have since shrunk to 5'1 from 5'3. The same doctor told me this might occur once i started to eat again, and so far everything he's said has been true. I wont shrink anymore, but I'm certainly stuck at 5'1.
because this is more or less a height based group, i think its safe to assume that she meant 'stop growing' in a sense of height, rather than full body development.

Height: 5'1

Age: 16

Current Weight: 110ish

Short Term Goal Weight: 100

Long Term Goal Weight: 85-95

Occupation: Student, artist, musician
(I've been paid for both :P)

Exercises: walk 2 miles 4 our of 7 days
500 squats a night
100 crunches a night
10 girly push ups (my arms are twigsss) a night
50 lifts per leg a night

these weird yoga things i do maybe 3 times week

Um... Kayteeforkeeps, sorry to say this, but YOU NEED TO EAT MORE.

1500 is the BARE MINIMUM for ANY GIRL UNDER THE AGE OF 21. And that's SEDENTARY.

Not to mention you're aiming for a goal that is dangerously underweight. You need to gain muscle more than anything at this point.
