I am sick of tall bias!

What baffoon decided tall was so great?

Now don't get me wrong.  I love tall - I just don't think that short people should have to endure the endless assumption that tall is somehow better.

Fashion magazines are loaded with advice for petite women.  All of it is geared to making one appear taller.  Empire waists give the illusion of "more leg", BIG hair gives the illusion of "height".  Monochromatic dressing gives a "long line".  Blah blah blah

It is my opinon that every tall person should wear wide horizontal stripes and jeans that make your legs look short.  Tall people should also have to wear hats that make them look shorter and can never ever wear heels.

The fashion industry should also ditch tall models.  Sure they look good on camera - but only because the fashion industry has been cramming that idea down our throats.

Dont even get me started on how everything is designed for taller people.  From kitchen counter height and cars to door handle height and window placement.  Even art gallaries exhibit tall bias when they hang their pictures.

If I ever become fabulously wealthy I think I will start a resort for shorties.  Everything custom made for people 5' 4" tall and under.  There will even be a fashion show for shorties!

There is some good reasoning behind my madness.  As our world's resources become more stressed it only make sense to encourage a smaller population.  Small people use less resources and take up less space.  Our individual imact on the environment is smaller as a whole. We even eat less food!

In the long run short people have an evolutionary advantage and this advantage should be encouraged.  All we have to do is learn to see "small" as desireable.  Nature will take care of the rest.

Hear, hear! I'll join your shortness-revolution! Are we a militant group? :)

BTW, just in case you're interested, the next season of America's Next Top Model will be targeted for shorter models. Not that the ANTM girls ever seem to affect the fashion industry in a big way.

Hey, don't pick on tall people just cause the media is full of it. :)  Height can be awkward for us especially when we keep getting told that men want a woman who is shorter than they are, otherwise we don't make them feel like a man.

Otherwise I'm all for your revolution. :)

Really?  Kitchen counters hit me really low.  It's a real pain to wash dishes.  Pain in the back that is.  Try vacuuming with the handle really short.  No vacuum I've ever used has been comfortable.  That sucks too.  Or how about taking a shower and needing to stand on your knees cause the showerhead is too low.

I think everything is made for short people.

Maybe every thing is made for people of average height and we just complain too much?Wink

It is all tongue and cheek dirktwolf!

Truthfull I had not thought about a real revolution.  But now that it has been mentioned there is some serious appeal there!

If y'all go to work tomorrow and find all the furniture has been lowered...well, let's just say the munchkins have had an uprising.  lol

You know what's really nice though? Not having your feet hang over the edge of the bed :)

I'm 5'6"...I prefer shorter women...it's hard to find one though! one day!!

My brother is 6'1". I am 5'2". We get into endless arguments over who has it worse when traveling. On the one hand, he has to cram himself into an airline seat and duck just to reach the seat in the first place. On the other hand, my feet don't touch the ground when I sit. Try that for a 6 hour flight. Also, the lumbar support and headrests are designed for taller people, so they end up pushing me out of alignment and making it more uncomfortable.

I could go on. And I agree about the countertops.

I say we revolt against the average height folk.  Everything will be made for the short and the tall, nothing for the inbetweeners.

I think it's time to make average people suffer like we do.

Now hold on there short people, life isn't so bad.

All the tall guys in high school would only go out with those little petite cheerleader types. That left all us tall, athletically built gals on the side benches at dances. (* Maybe that was just me, I did have an older brother that was somewhat protective of me, huge damper on the dating thing!)

You can go into basically any store and find pants long enough - off the rack.

No matter how small your bra size is, it looks like you have Dolly Parton syndrome

All those cute clothes you see in magazines, really are cute... on you. Tall girls look like they are playing dress up in them.

No matter how you slice it, tall girls will never fit into a size 0, 1, or 2 (and live to tell about it)

See I could go on and on too. I vote for the tall girls and the short girls getting together and waging war on the 'average size' girls. They are the ones that get the best of both worlds!

Who's with me?

A friend of mine who is 6'4" claims that he hits his hands on things a lot because he never knows exactly where they are due to the length of his arms.

I'm 5'4" and happy. I remember for some reason never wanting to grow tall, wanting to stay petite as a teenager.

me being a 5'6" male is not so bad, there are many pro athletes who are short, like Football Running backs, some are 5'5, 5'6, 5'7", 5'8", 5'9", 5'10" etc...so being a short guy is no such a bad thing as I used to think, 'specially if you are fit and have a nice build like a running back.

I would SO SO SO SO SO be at that tall resort.

I want to redo my kitchen so that I can actually reach the top shelves.

LOL! I know! I'm 27, 5'2, 110lbs, so not only short but just SMALL!!! Not always a posotive! But I am, and always have been very comfortble with my stature. I've had to get creative with means of reaching for or opening things. I would definatley go to your resort! How about a desk chair for a shorty! The part you sit on is always way to long for my thigh length and I have to sit on the edge, which kills your back. Frustrating!I actualy did research to see if there was a "petite" office chair, and there isn't. :(  I work with another shorty and we swap "short tips".

Forgive the bad link.

By the way - I love all of these comments.  Poor tall people.  :D

Being tall is just fine. Having dated a dwarf I can say that he thought being short was just fine.

It's all just....fine.

Oh I know!  Sorry if my comment didn't come off tongue in cheek as well. :)  The brain does not work before coffee.  I'm all for a revolution against the illusive average height people. :D

And man, to be able to find pants long enough would be awesome.  But then again my roommate, who's 5'3 or 5'4 always complains about finding pants short enough.  There just aren't pants in this world for anyone.

my office chair has an adjustable seat that can pull back to shorten. AND I have a foot stool that adjusts up to 20"!!!! I don't have it set there though! I'm 5'2"

Someone came by and asked me how I got a spaceship chair. hehehe. They let me use it to "test" it out and since the manufacturer never picked the test model back up, I got to keep it. SWEEET.

At 5'1" I have standing head room in most sail boat interiors which is something that always made the sailor dudes I was hanging out with at the time jealous. I have a friend who looks like a super model, and she towers over me too, tell me once that I "project taller". I wasn't really sure what that meant but I think it was a compliment. Shorties unite!!

Lol! Another thing that tweaks me: The fact people hang mirrors at tall height.  They hang mirrors so they can see themselves and about a foot over their head... There are people down here too! Hello?!

I'm barely 5'2. All of my pants have to be altered in length. They should also attempt to make pants for people with different butt sizes. Some of us do not have enough cushion to fill them out. It's like wearing the wrong size bra quite frankly, imo. That's why when I find the right brand/type that fit my booty I'm like: "Hell Yaah! :) "

I have a large stock of pants that fit correctly. It took a lot of effort to make that a reality though on my part.

That's why shorties love summer so much. Pants just never fit without alterations, etc.  Shorts always fit! :) We wear short shorts, Lol!
