My shortest relationship ever... (Food warning)

Wednesday: Try Fiber One for the first time. Develop a crush.

Thursday - Monday: Have one bowl a day. Fall in love.

Tuesday: While eating a bowl, wonder how much sugar is in it, because it's so delicately sweet. See 0 grams of sugar. Check ingredients list. Ingredient # 11 = ASPARTAME.

Wednesday, one week later: Back to the Kashi GLC.

Just thought I'd share, with anyone who may be trying to avoid aspartame like me, always, always, always read the ingredients. It can show up in even the most unexpected places like "healthy" breakfast cereal, including the very tasty, but chemically sweetened, Fiber One. Yuck!

P.S. I am not looking to start an aspartame fight here, this is only for people who are already adverse to it, and may be unexpectedly eating it, like I did.

Also even though it doesnt have much fiber Arrowhead Mills Wheat puffs, Kamut puffs nad corn puffs are also 0gram sugar , same with Kashi whole grain puffs, there also really low calorie and are a nice mix in with other cereal to bulk up your bowl.

Thanks for the suggestions stardust!

On that note, does any one know of any other good high fiber breakfast cereals? Kashi GLC is delicious and has 8 or 9 grams of fiber I think, but just anyone knows any others.

I really like Puffins(The regular flavor).......It reminds me of "Crunchy Corn Bran" Mmmmmm

Barbara's Bakery (maker of Puffins) Ultima High Fiber (8g per 1/2 cup, 90 cal) is a good one. Best part is that it's all organic ingredients. :)

Mmm, that sounds great! I eat organic whenever I get the chance. Thank you both, I'll definitely try those out :)

I need a lot of fiber at breakfast, and I got sick of fiber one, so I tried all-bran buds, and I really like them. 1/3 cup has 13 grams of fiber!I usually mix them with some other cereal. However, I have no idea about the sugar content or whether they use artifical sweeteners.

I'm not worried about the sweetener because it's the only thing I eat that's sweetened and I don't use very much of it at a time... the 'artificial' flavour comes through if I have more than 1/4 cup at a time. But the Fiber One caramel squares are NOT artificially sweetened.

i hear ya
for me it's not just health concerns or anything
i bloat like a beech, and sheet like a mofo when i consume aspartame !

I stick with the classics:

"Quaker Quick Oats, ingredients: 100% rolled oats, naturally contains oat bran".

I <3 Bran Buds. God I love Bran Buds!!

Another cereal I opt for is Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal... I don't know about the fake sweeteners but it's doubtful it's in there since it's a TJ's brand... :)

*edit - you could always add Date Sugar if you want to go natural - add fiber - nutrients - and fructose form of sugar (non-refined).

I second this recommendation.  All-bran does come in a close second though.  All-bran brand is a little sweeter, and the sweetener they use is HFCS.
