How many shorties are hourglass figures and losing weight?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi there,

I'm 22 and 5'2" and here are my stats:

CW: 128

Bust:38

Waist:26

Hips:38

I'm sick of people telling me I don't need to lose any more weight! My thighs, and arms have ample jiggle room, heh. I want to know if any girls around my height, and body shape have plateued, and wanted to get an idea of everybody's measurements, and sizes! I would like to be a size 4 in jeans, but I can't imagine my hips ever being that small!!!

I feel like it's harder for hourglass women to gain muscle(I have a hard time), any tips, thoughts?

workout! you need to gain muscle to dispel jiggle room.   ; )

Of course, I work out, I do weights(80 pound) smith machine squats, I do free weight curls, chest press on machines, raised situps, but if I stop for longer than a 2 weeks, all the muscle tone is gone and plus I do cardio too(3-4x 45minutes level 3 elliptical). I wanted to hear some variation in exercise routines...

Me too....5' 3 1/2"  38-28-38.  I wear a 6-8.   Work out about like yours, but have not changed measurements in over a year!  It's frustrating!  I get the same comments - "you're perfect"....but I want more tone!  I have increased weights several times with no results.  I'm interested in seeing what others post here.

Good luck to you.

I am 5'3" and an hourglass.  I have lost over 30 pounds since last July.  I now weigh 121 and don't have much jiggle except in my bust which has remained larger in comparision to the rest of me, my only complaint.  I am currently wearing a 4 US but they are starting to get big now.

I have eaten an average deficit of 300 calories a day and walked 3 days a week since July 2008.  In January I started the New Rules of Lifting for Women (NROLFW) and can't believe the difference.  I have definiton all over my body, including some in my abs which I never thought I would see.  I lift heavy for me, which means deadlifts of 100 pounds, and squats and step-ups with 120 pounds (almost to body weight).  After only five months I am totally hooked on weight lifting.  I have added extra aerobics in the last two weeks just because I am getting close to my goal weight and body fat percentage and don't want to eat less.  I eat an average of 1650 calories a day.

Good luck to everyone, I hope this information is helpful.

Hourglass figure and proud of it...also sporting size 4-6's.  It can be accomplished.

Why do you stop lifting after two weeks?  Dont you want to be toned?  Dont you want your measurements to reduce?  Isnt that the whole point of lifting...to get stronger and tone up the bod? Why would you stop?????

can you share more about the new rules of lifting for women?

i am 5'0, 32-24-34 3/4.

I have lost about 10lbs in the past three months and have been going back and forth between 108 and 110..sometimes 111lb...but my measurements have stayed the same.

i am really frustrated but trying to stay motivated. i haven't been able to lose any more inches and i want to get to 106lb as my ultimate goal. i am very happy with where i am now but just wanted a little more tightness.

i definately do more cardio than weights but have been wondering if i should reverse that to finally lose these last pounds???

sorry -- i forgot to reply to the original questions and just jumped into my own drama!!

here's what i did to lose the weight (and remember, we r the lucky ones: even though it's harder for us to lose weight--i think the result is more appealing cause it's just a smaller hour glass!)

I WAS EXTREMELY STRICT ON MY CALORIE INTAKE. NEVER HAD A CHEAT DAY. I would have an 'indulgent meal once every two weeks". I am not advocating doing this, but it seemed to be the only thing that worked for me.

Thar's really good advice...I've been having too many cheat days(with getting married this past weekend and all), but I have such a sweet tooth. I feel like my weight goes down more when I workout with weights but also my hunger level is more extreme. I'm also concerned about maintaining weight loss...do I have to keep going to the gym 4-5x a week to maintain?

I agree with devilish patsy entirely. also though LIFT HEAVIER/ more reps will make the muscle harder = nicer.  Worry not you will never bulk only lose fat & look lean Smile.  lift more/heavier, eat more protein if you are hungrier.

You can do it.  good luck meeting your goals, and don't stop.

 BTW. I'm also a shorty 4'11" 35 bust, 28 waist, 36 hips

Hey,

I am wondering if I am too considered an hourglass shape.  I am 5'3 my measurements are 39-34-43.  I am solid and have recently lost 25 pounds.  I am currently on a diet and trying to get down smaller, but my butt is still sooooo big (as you can see by my measurements)!  Any suggestions?  Would you consider me hourglass?

I actually have an easier time gaining muscle than I do losing weight.  Basically, when I work out with weights (which I love!) it tends to show really quickly, with my arms, shoulders and back quickly toning up.  Unfortunately though, I feel like the rest of me just gets bigger, with muscle forming underneath the stubborn layer of fat (that I just can't seem to get rid of!) around my belly and thighs. While I love having an hourglass shape, I wish I could slim the lower half down a little, lol.

Congrats on the wedding!  And to answer your question, here are my stats- 28, 5' 2", CW 125, GW 110.  34-27- 37.  My typical gym schedule basically consists of me doing various free weight exercises for about 45 minutes (curls, lunges, leg lifts, etc.) with 5-8 lbs weights/medicine balls.  Then I hop on the bike or the elipitical for another 45 or so.  I really hate cardio, so I really have to force myself to do it.

Hey! Your sounds about the same routine I was doing...but here's the shocker, I've become lazy! heh. I've stopped going to the gym regularly, and eating/scarfing down everything I stopped eating to lose weight. Now, in a matter or 2 months, I've gained 5 pounds Cry. I'm determined to start a normal routine back up. Thank you for sharing your routine, I feel like yours is something I can actually maintain, bc when I do cardio, I feel like it's all or none, that's not really a good attitude to have. I'm hoping to lose this excess right back in a month.
