For shorties (5'2" and under!) who are close to their GW!
within 20 pounds of their goal weight:
how many calories are you guys taking in now?
how much exercise are you getting?
and are you seeing progress?
I'm 5'2, 122 pounds, 19 yrs old, female, and I want to be 105-110.
I'm eating 1200 ish calories a day, more on workout days, and I have not seen any progress! I'd like to here what other peoples stats and stories are!
Duuuuuuude I was just in a post about how people our age have to eat more cos we're growing or whatever, maybe you should up it a bit because you're pretty much verging on starvation.
I'm 5'2, 150 (ish im not sure), 18 years old, female and my goal is 130. Im alternating 1300/1500, just to see if it works. I dont have any scales where I am so when i get back home in 8 weeks im hoping to see a change :D
I'm 5' 1, 105 or so, 19 years old, female, and my weight is pretty much at maintaining. If i lost another 2 lbs thats okay, but I'm happy as long as I am under 110.
I workout at least 5 days a week for about an hour or more. 1 hour cardio. somtimes an extra 30 minutes or so also.
I walk around campus a lot to get to classes so that really helps me out!
I eat, oh, I'd say at least 1,300 calories at day. At least. that's if i'm not hungry. I usually eat about 1,500 or so a day. Maybe a little more if I'm hungry.
Add some more calories. Add an extra ten minutes a day for two weeks just to up that calorie burn.
You have an advantage of being young with a faster motabolism than I do. I'm 31, 5' 2" and around 140. I began my diet and exercise in January and I dropped about 15 - 17 pounds. I've been eating between 1200 and 1300 calories a day and running outside at least 3 - 4 miles a day, 5 days a week, plus doing weights occasionally. I stopped losing pounds for a little while, but the inches were still coming off. I upped my running to 4 miles a few times a week and I've lost couple of pounds since then.
I have 10 more pounds until I hit my target weight, but I know once I'm there I'll add another 5 pounds that I want to lose.
Good luck!
I'm 5'1", 18, and 124 lbs. I eat 1500 calories a day, and my GW is 115.
My typical work out is running for an hour, then stomach exercises.
I'm slightly under 5'2'', 23, and around 110-112.5 lbs. I started this in the end of July from about 128. I pretty much got to where I am at by Christmas which was my real goal, but then I decided I wanted to be 108 lbs. Problem is I haven't been motivated for all of 2009 to work at it and I've been splurging like twice a week on take out for dinner. I don't really exercise as I don't have the time - but I walk a good amount since i live in NYC - I try to eat 1200 calories but at the most maybe 1500.
I just posted about myself in the new members forum. I'm thinking about posting here to get advice/suggestions. I'm 34 5'2" 112lbs (started at 119 8wks ago). I've found it very tough to get to my goal 108. I'm looking for help/suggestions to get to where I want also.
here's what I wrote in new members forum
This is my first post here. I just am looking for some opinions/suggestions. Here's my story...
I've never been really heavy and never had weight issues before. I've for the most part ate healthy and exercised my entire life. The last two years have been inordinately stressful where my family need had to come before my need to workout (or find time for myself). I know I've gained a few pounds and for the first time in my life have to/want to take it off.
For the past 8 weeks I've used cc as a guide. It's hard for me to log all my calories/exercise here, but I do keep a jounal (note book) where I keep track of every thing I eat and what activity(work out I do). I started wanting to lose about 11 lbs, thus far I am down 7 (in 8 wks). The first 2lb came off easily (water weight I guess?) the rest have been tough. According the cc I should consume 1200 calories/day (based on I'm 34yrs old 5' 2" currently 112 started at 119 and want to get to 108). So that's what I have been following.
I am very strict in counting every calorie. I have had "cheat meals", but I generally just work them into my daily count (i.e. short the other meals or work out more to balance out). If I do splurge like on a holiday I don't get distraught, but just get back on the wagon.
Last night I went to my doc for swelling in my hands. I wanted to make sure it's not something serious (I have to call back Friday for results of blood & urine tests). He thinks it's just water retention and prescribe me some thing mild to take. I spoke with him about my diet and he said that 1200 is too few for me. He's fine with me wanting to lose the weight I want to lose and for the reason I want to lose (just want to fit back into my clothes better). He suggests me eating 1600 calories/day based on my lifestyle. It seems high for my size to me. Because I've have been keeping track of calorie intake I know I can bump up some, but I don't know if I can consume that many calories daily on a regular basis. I don't have an eating disorder...it's just a lot for me.
I did pack my breakfast and lunch as usual. Today I added some extra skim milk to my coffee and pack a couple extra snacks for the day).
I do have very limited time to work out. I do 300 crunches (various variations) 5-6 days per week. I alternate calistenic/strenght work outs every other day (one day push ups & triceps lifts next squats & lunges). I do 30 minutes of cardio daily (ride exercise bike, jog in place or work out video). In total it's about 45 minutes of working out 5-6 day/week. This is all the time I can squeeze in to work out based on my life. I incorporate resistance bands in workouts. I have just bought some 5lbs weights to start incorporating and I also just got a monitor that will tell me what calories I burn...I'm going to set that up tonight.
I'm 5'1, 21, 49kg (108lb) and am small framed
I'm pretty much ok with this weight but I would like to get it back down to 45-46kg (99-101lb) like I was in February.
I exercise about twice a week on the treadmill for about 1 hour and I try to eat a min of 1200 but it normally hits 1500 - 2000+ :x
My issue is eating too much, I have this habit of eating every second of the day cos my mouth seems to like moving, but even with this I have kinda been lucky to be stuck between 48-49kg for the past month or so even with the horrific amount of calories I consume on probably most days.
My goal is to go back to Hong Kong and not for my Aunt to call me fat again
Wow suzic87 you have a good metabolism! I'm jealous.
I'm surprised your aunt called you fat. Would you really be considered that in China? I mean I know Chinese people tend toward the slimmer side, but 108 isn't at all horrible. In Europe, you would be quite slim. Even over there though I feel a little larger. At 105 lbs and 5' 1, I dont know why I really should. I think it's just the way I feel around my lovely friend Giorgia.
I eat too much too! I dont gain any weight, but I always feel like if I would just stop eating when I'm full I could lose that extra 2 lbs or something.
claudb89: I know the cheek of my Aunt, well unless your a stick you are generally considered fat in Asia.
Just flicking through Japanese magazines they believe under 40kg is healthy for people my size, ridiculous.
In HK, there are advertisements everywhere for beauty products, diet products, diet/slimming clubs etc... It's quite crazy!!
Really? Is that why a lot of the Asian girls tend to be similar? Because their family and society and culture?
Wow. Now that's pressure. Also that sounds so much like Brazil. It's very popular to crash diet and use diet pills.
What do men think about that? Is that the ideal beauty then? Tell me more, I'm interested in your culture. I just always thought you guys have great genetics haha it seems my italian ones are not so lucky.
I'm 5'1" and 38. Right now I'm 129, looking to be 120.
I'm kind of amused by the low weight goals here! Maybe it's because I tend to be muscular, but for me, if I go under 115, I start to look sick and gross--so much that even random strangers start asking me what's wrong, if I feel okay because I look ill, and all that. Under 110, I look like I need to be hooked up to an IV!
Because I'm crazy busy with work right now and can't get out to exercise, I'm eating in the 1350-1500 range (with one day a week that I don't count) and have been losing steadily for a little over two weeks now. When my schedule clears and I can start exercising again, I'll be eating in the 1500-1700 range.
Apophenia: I was thinking the same thing about the low weight goals! I'm 5'1", 127 and aiming for 120-122. Last year, I was down to 117 and everybody (including strangers) were asking me if I was sick... I'm muscular too and medium frame.
I eat around 1600 calories a day with an occasional 2000+ calories day!
And I burn about 300-400 calories 5 times a week. Since the last month, my weight fluctuates between 124-127 depending on TOTM... but no real weightloss so I'm thinking that maybe I'm at my happy weight...
Does anyone want to make this thread sort of one of those "groups" where perhaps we weigh in on Fridays and give each other motiviation/advice?
