Shoulder pain while jogging?

Quote  |  Reply

I experience a pain in my shoulder sometimes when I'm jogging. Does anyone else experience this? Know what causes it?

Yea, I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm not certain about this but I've heard it's to do with your breathing.  I get it when I start running after a few weeks off, it's due to my fitness level.  Hope someone confirms this for you

i get that to it sucks i also get pains in my sides. like mavybaby said i thinks its something with your breathing because when i breath through my mouth i get then but the when i breath in through my nose and out my mouth i dont get them. hope i helped.

I also get shoulder pain and sometimes the stomach cramp when running, can anyone elaborate? on causes, effects, preventions??

Yeah I get these too! I would like to know why that happens sometimes...

The first person who replied is absolutely correct, unless you've sustained structural damage to that shoulder in the past, it is almost certainly due to your breathing. Somebody asked about side-stitches on here before and I gave them the absolute, guaranteed solution for that: http://caloriecount.about.com/stitch-running- ft119607

You'll see from the last few responses that it works very very well, but unfortunately "belly breathing", as it's called, is not quite as effective when the breathing related pain originates in the shoulder. It will still work, but you may hurt for a bit longer than if it were a side stitch. Anyways, give it a shot!

i'll try that, thanks!
