30 day Shred anyone???

Quote  |  Reply

I have had the DVD at home for MONTHS, but have yet to put it in the DVD player.  Not doing much good in it's case...so I decided today is the day!  If anyone would like to join me, I would love it.  It is NEVER too late to join me.  I will post my updates as often as I can and would love to see your updates as well.

For those of you who have tried it, I would love to know if you feel like you lost inches, pounds, etc. in the 30 days.

Good luck to all!

Sure!  The first sentence of your post should also be the first sentence of my post!  I ripped  the cellophane off the DVD this morning and thought, "I should really do something with this other than let it collect dust".  So I think tomorrow morning before I get ready for work I am going to give it a go.   Only being a 20 minute workout, I think I should be able to get this workout in and still get to work on time. I will update any weight/measurement stats, too, to attempt to track progress.

Good luck with your workout tonight!

Hi!

I will not be joining you but I couldn't help but post!!!!

I have done the Shred, off and on for about 6 months.  I wil tell you it is a tough workout, BUT SO WORTH IT!!!

I have changed my whole body composition will Jillian's Videos, now I mix it up with 30 day shred, No More Trouble Zones, (my new favorite) , and Burn Fat Boost Metabolism!

So good luck and enjoy the changes your bodies make!!

Dis - Thx for your post, good to know that if I stick to it I will see the changes I am looking for.

Mel - Glad to have a fellow new shredder with me.  I did not get to do it last night, long story, but I WILL be doing it tonight, so it looks like we are starting on the same day!

I'd like to try it out.

Can you tell me first, what kind of equipment I'll need before I buy the DVD?

Thank you.

igloo - I don't know, as I have yet to try it.  I think I have seen other posts that say you need light weights...but don't quote me on that.  I am going to try it tonight, I will post tomorrow with my findings...until then...

Ah, hopefully I will still get this workout in today!  I wanted to use my laptop to view the video so i could take it into the room where I wanted to work out but apparently when I took the computer in to have work done on it a few months ago, they never put any DVD-reading software back in.  Grrr!  So tonight I will have to take care of that little problem and THEN hopefully do the workout!

I am curious if Jillian's comment on the cover of 'lose 20 lbs. in 30 days' could really happen...

So again, rntcrawford, good luck when you begin tonight!  And igloo, if you give it a try today, good luck to you as well!

I just started this workout program too, a friend suggested it, and it is TOUGH! But awesome. You have to do it every day if you want to see results quickly.

I've been doing it for just over a month now and I've lost about 10 lbs.  I was around 160 (at 5'2) when I first started The Shred, and I'm now at 150.

I don't know what your stats are, but someone bigger than I was might get close to 20 lbs off in a month.  I suppose it depends on how much weight you need to lose.  Someone close to their goal weight probably won't lose that much in a month no matter what they do.

Edit: And to the OP- I wasn't measuring myself so I don't know how many inches I lost, but I have gone down a size (almost 2 sizes, but not quite, grrr!) since I started.  I slowly lost 30 lbs over the past year on CC, but since I started doing The Shred and lost these last 10 lbs, people have really been commenting on my weight loss.  Not sure if it's a coincidence or if 40 lbs is just the magic number it takes to get noticed. Smile

all you need is 3 lb weights and a matt if you are working out on a hard surface.  the 20 lbs in 30 days, is if you do it 7 days a week and follow a strict diet.

good luck!

Day 1 - DONE!!!

Hello =] I haven't done the 30 day shred, but I have Jillian's book Making the Cut and let me tell you, if it's anywhere near as hardcore as those workouts, you'll see results! Making the Cut is supposed to be for that "last 10-20 lbs", but I got it anyway, thinking that 20 would satisfy me (not!). You do have to do it EVERY day, or in the book's case 2 then one off 2 then 2 off, etc. to see results the way she claims. I have no, as of yet, succeeded in doing it exactly by the book and yet I still lost a little over 10 lbs in that first hardcore month. I'm telling you, Jillian is a genius!

Is Jillian's Making the Cut book just exercise routines, or are there meal plans? Also, what kinds of exercises does she have you do? (and how long does the entire program take if you follow the book properly?)

Making the Cut has everything from calculating your BMR to what sort of oxidizer you are, grocery lists based on what kind of oxidizer you are, a meal plan & recipes a 30 day layout of circuits & a glossary to explain each exercise. It's supposed to take 30 days to complete the whole thing. It's ridiculously effective and you will feel it the next day! lol

Thanks very much Kittie!

Might try that one when I'm done NROLFW.

Somethings gotta give on these last 10 pounds. They wont budge.

Sure thing & amen!

I really like the Jillian Michaels DVD's. I have the 30 day shred, TMTZ and BFBM. all of them are great workouts! I just did the 30 day shred Level 1 and 2 back to back and I feel awesome! I used my heart rate moniter and it says that I burned about 350 cal. I highly recommed all of her workouts!

Ok...so I was so sore from doing day 1, that I could not possibly have done it on Friday for day 2, then Saturday I was not home and yada, yada, yada...

So, tonight my hope is that since I have recently done the first day and gotten out all of the soreness, I should have no trouble starting again today.  With that said, I will also start my count over...I know I will miss some days, as I will be out of town for the next 3 weekends, but I promise that I will get in as many days as possible.  My other promise to myself is that if I miss 3 or more days in a row, I will have to start my count over.

Today will be a test...I have two 6 year old girls spending the night since tomorrow is my daughters birthday...if I can manage to get a workout in tonight, then there is nothing left to stop me!

I will update tomorrow.

I did the shred in April and lost 12 pounds that month.  I lost 3 inches off my chest, 1 1/2 inches off my waist, and 2 inches off my hips.  The great part for me was that the shred helped me break through my plateau...I'd only lost 4 pounds in March and was getting frustrated!  Now, I work the shred into my weekly exercise at least once and am also doing Jillian's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism dvd.  The 30 Day Shred was tough but worth it.
