30 Day Shred Calories and buddy??
hey all,
I have been doing the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga, and after reading all the raves about the 30 day shred I decided to try that. I have had it for 2 weeks, but just got around to trying it this afternoon (i know, i know). I am planning on doing it everyday for the next 30 days.
I am wondering 2 things....
Anyone want to start the shred in the next couple days and be my 30 day shred buddy? We can check in daily for motivation and track our results. I don't care if you have around the same stats as me, but just so you know I am 24, 180lbs, 5'5. My goal weight is 140-150, and right now I am shooting for the 150.
Secondly, how many calories do you think you burn doing this workout. Right now I am on level one, but plan to go to level 2 and then 3 when I feel comfortable. How do you log the calories burned?
thanks!!
Hello,
I have not heard of the Biggest Loser Yoga, however I hear yoga burns a ton of calories and elongates your muscles, giving you a lean look. I was going to start doing a Pilates video myself. Maybe we can be buddies. I recently had my first child (a boy) in January and I currently wiegh 180 also. My goal weight is the same 150 for now at least. My goal is to be 150 lbs by my son's first birthday on January 13. I have been calorie counting for about a week and I feel so much better ( less slugish).
Well let me know if you are intrested in being work out buddies
And you can log in your activity on the home page enter Yoga and the amouny of minutes and intensity and it will find out how many calories that is equivalent to. Good Luck and you can do it!
Steph
I will join the group and start tomorrow if the offer is still open. I have been trying to think of a program that I could do on my work days before work. The 30 Day Shred would be perfect for me.
The exercise video is about 600 calories per video, which makes it about 200 calories per workout. If you google calories for 30 Day Shred, you will find the number online. To log the exercise, consider it calisthenics and you will be good.
Looking forward to tomorrow.

Yeah, I really recommend the Biggest loser weight loss yoga. It combines yoga and pilates, and is a really great workout.

Great! We are starting tomorrow! Probably Level one for 5-10 days, and then moving up from there depending on how you feel. I also took my stats (measurements) earlier today, so I am going to track that too.
ok sounds awesome!! re: calorie expenditure during the workout...i remember seeing a discussion about it SOMEWHERE...will try to find it and update you...p.s. i am wimpy so i use three pound weights...i did this workout prior to a wedding i had to attend and i think i looked my best ever!! (of course i stopped afterwards) but anyways this will be good...ttytomorrow =)
Hey all- I figured out how to start a group on here, so I made one for us! I sent out invites to you guys, so join!! http://caloriecount.about.com/shred-g1373
Just so you know the 30 day shred does work. I did it Feb of last year. I started out at 167 pounds and by June I was 145 . I had great tone and almost had a 4 pack. Unfortunately, I got lazy for winter and gained it all back. 172 this time. Now I started in March along with healthy eating and Im down from 172 in March to now 158. My goal is 145. I love Jillian Michael's . I also got her new cds trouble zones , and fat something metabolism. LOL .Way harder and longer than her shred videos. I mix it up with Tae-bo with Billy Blanks and Jackie Warner one on one. She is great also. Good luck ! You will be on Level 3 before you know it. Don'T give up.!
OK, Ladies,
I completed Level 1/ Day 1. It was tough and I have been working out at the gym every day. BUT I made it!!
eve102: Thanks for the pep talk and the stats. It is so easy to get lazy and completely lose momentum. Good for you for getting back on the wagon--you have done GREAT!! I have the other Jillian DVD's too, but found them too hard for right now. Will have to progress to that level.
Tomorrow will be L1/ D2. Good luck to all. I fell 1/30th smaller already. HA! HA!

Great job Jehzimom! I am getting ready to do it again now. I am SOOOOO sore from yesterday. My legs are killing me!! BUT, I am definitely going to push through it and do the shred in the next few minutes!
Not to change the subject entirely..but do you guys think "No More Trouble Zones" burns more calories then "30 Day Shred?"
I don't know. I have only watch "trouble zones" but have not attempted it. I may take that one on when I get a little stronger.
Eve102, I've been wondering exactly what the 30-day shred plan is. I don't have the DVD, but I've tried on my cable's "on-demand". Does the DVD give any guidance? Are you supposed to do one level daily until you feel like you can move up a level? Or do it every other day? I've done level 1 occasionally and its awesome, but my muscles are way too sore to do it 2 days in a row. I've been doing cycling classes and running, but still Jillian kicked my butt! What did you do?
Thanks and nice job on your recent weight loss!
Today is my 3rd day doing the 30 day shred! I'm finally not that sore anymore and am already noticing it getting easier! I plan on doing it for at least the next 27 days, probably longer. I would be lovely to have people to make me keep doing it!! Jillian Michaels is CRAZY but I love her workouts. She's tough but it all really works! Love it. :o)
p.s. I'm 6'1/2", fluctuating between 150-155, small frame, 20 years old. And I also took measurements before starting the workouts. Hoping for the best! :o)
Just in case anyone will find this useful....
I have a bodybugg, and the 30-Day Shred burns between 147-162 calories for me if I do level 1 or 2 (haven't done level 3 yet). I am 5'5 and 138lbs.
That is exactly how I started with the on demand one. Its the same thing. With the levels you are right . Just continue doing level 1 until you are flying through it. If your muscles hurt that means you got a good workout. You basically worked muscles that were dormant. Remember , you have to be consistent. Do it everyday if you can and before you know it you wont be sore and then when you feel that its become a lot easier go to level 2 and so on. You will become stronger, believe me. When I started last year (Feb 2008) I was 167 and I had never worked out like that in my life. I went down to 145 in 4 months. I looked better than I did than when I was in my 20's . I'm 38 now. My husband could not believe how I looked. I gin it back and some in winter. This time I started at 172 and now I'm 158 and i just started in march. I don't do the shreds anymore. If I do I do level 3 and I feel it finishes too fast. I do her other DVDs trouble zones and boost metabolism ans son Billy Blanks TAe-Bo. At the rate of how more intense my workouts are now I should look better than last year. You can do it! Just remember when you are sore it means you are doing something right. After my Trouble zones video which is about 55 minutes I was sore but i worked out the next day. Its also good to do different exercises because the body gets used to the workouts. Consistency is the key! NO PAIN NO GAIN! Good luck
I am so glad I found this posting! I just started this yesterday.

You heard a big, fat lie. You can make your muscles longer about as easy as you can make your bones longer or change the shape of your head.
On point, I love the 30 day shred. It's great on my cardio days. Jillian isn't f'cking around.
Should I be doing other exercises besides the 20 minute shred? This kicked my butt last night, but I am wondering if that is enough for one day. Any thoughts?
