30 Day Shred Calories and buddy??

Quote  |  Reply

hey all,

I have been doing the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga, and after reading all the raves about the 30 day shred I decided to try that.  I have had it for 2 weeks, but just got around to trying it this afternoon (i know, i know).  I am planning on doing it everyday for the next 30 days.

I am wondering 2 things....

Anyone want to start the shred in the next couple days and be my 30 day shred buddy?  We can check in daily for motivation and track our results.  I don't care if you have around the same stats as me, but just so you know I am 24, 180lbs, 5'5. My goal weight is 140-150, and right now I am shooting for the 150.

Secondly, how many calories do you think you burn doing this workout.  Right now I am on level one, but plan to go to level 2 and then 3 when I feel comfortable.  How do you log the calories burned?

thanks!!

It looks like the 30 day shred burns about 200 calories per workout.  If you are aiming to lose a lot of weight, you may want to throw something in on the shred days as well.  I have been doing the 30 day shred everyday, the biggest loser weight loss yoga every 2 days (one off), and then I do the elliptical about 3-4 days per week for about 30-45 minutes.

Hey Rosie, if you just started i recommend doing the 30 day shred. Just concentrate on  completing the 3 levels . Your body and mind will tell you when you are ready for level 2 and then 3. I knew I was done with the level once the exercises didn't feel that hard or I didn't gt that burn. Don't get me wrong , I still get that burn from level 3 but after I'm done I feel it isn't enough of a workout. Her videos are 30 minutes long each level. I try to do at least an 1hr or 45 minutes of cario and resistance. Good luck ! No PAIN NO GAinYell. Burn That FAT everyone! That what IM going to do now.  WinkDo your thing ladies...

Rosie,

I agree with eve. It depends what you have been doing. If you have been doing other stuff and burning higher calories, you might not want to depend just on the Shred. However, if this is all new to you, the Shred is probably enough. Remember, we don't want to burn out--we want to burn fat.

Completed Level 1 Day 2. Pushups were easier, but the squats were harder. I made it though. I expect Day 3 to be a little easier.

Does anyone else tune out Jillian? I ignore some of the talking. I have heard it already, don't need to listen again.

One option that I haven't heard, is using the entire 3 levels and 3 days as a 1 day workout. For me, that's my goal. If I could do that one day a week, I could probably keep pretty firm and strong at the same time without boredom. Isn't it funny how DVD's get boring after awhile? You would think that the producers would recognize that participants want more of a class experience, so keep the chatter to a minimum.

I know, today weighed myself and I'm still 158 . Its so annoying. Its probably water or something I hope. so I did a new workout for 22 minutes then I did Jillian's trouble zones for an hour. I think my calorie intake is too low . I asked Mary before and she answered  . I still haven't read it though. By July I want to be 145 at least . But my estimate on my profile says sept. I cant wait till after summer.

Good for you! It will get easier believe me. I can only do girly push ups and the squats always burn. That's my problem area my thighs and buns . My arms are good and my stomach is good also I just want to lift and tone .LOL I bet that's what most woman want anyway. Killer butt and thighs. Keep up the good work. How much are you wanting to lose? If you don't mind me asking.  and what is your goal date>? TTYLSmile

Thanks for the replies ladies!  I ran a 5K on Saturday for Breast Cancer...without training of course so my whole body is killing me.  I just finished day two of the shred.  Not going to lie...I am doing the girly push-ups and had a stop a couple of times.  I am just starting to exercise again.  I am so annoyed with myself that I just can't seem to maintain.  I work my ass off, lose weight, tone up and then gain it all back!  It is so frustrating.  I am going to try this time though.  I quit smoking in March and gained 8 lbs since then.  I am proud of myself that I let go of that vice so I think I can stick to this exercise program.  I feel so great when I am done!  I think I am just going to try the shred and maybe run a couple days a week and see where that gets me.  I did go over on my calories today...ah crap bag!

Eve,

Current weight is around 150 (148.8 last week). Goal according to CC is 127 with goal date of January 2010.

Whatever Undecided. I mostly want to lose my jiggle. I have a friend who gained weight but thought she looked OK. The doctor told her at her physical to lose weight. She informed him that she looked fine. With a raised eyebrow, he told her to go home, get naked, and jump up and down. She did it and was shocked. I use the "jiggle test" to judge my progress and establish my goal. I really want to be jiggle-free. I am getting there. Have a way to go, but I am headed in the right direction.

OK, just finished L1D3. It was better today. No soreness this morning, thus no Advil. I am really amazed how hard this short workout is. I sweat a lot when I do it. This is probably the best calorie burn for the time expenditure that I am aware of. When I do the elliptical, I work for an hour with a 525 cal burn. 200 cal for 26 min is good.

The hardest part for me is the lateral squats with arm raises at the end of level 1. The backs of my arms burn like fire halfway through the first set. Man those things hurt! When I can do those easily, it will be time to move to level 2.

Taking a road trip to east Texas today. Will check in later tonight. Have a good day ladies.

Level one Day 3 completed last night.  I am whooped! I forgot to give stats... 30 almost 31, 5 niner and I weigh a buck 70.  My ultimate goal is 150, but my first goal is 160.  Smile

Good for you!  It will just gets easier each day dont give up.Yell  My stats are almost the same . Just older and a little shorter. 5 ft 8 in, 38 yrs  weigh 158 . My goal is 145 my first goal is 150. Im getting a little frustrated because my weight has been 158 for a week now . Then it goes up to 160 then down again. Im working out 7 days a week like 45 to 60 minutes and still 158. I want 155 darnit!Cry I did start at 172 in March ,but still... DonIt need the exrtra meat on the buns and thighs. I want to put my bikini on! We can do it. I saw your pic with the blond hair , you looked great there.

Eve and Roz,

You guys are doing so good!! Keep it up.I completed L1D4. A little easier today, but my right shoulder hurts after the last set of pushups. Advil time!

Let me ask a question:  Does the scale really matter if you fit in a bikini and look great? I would be willing to stay at 150 if I didn't look like it. What about you guys?

Weigh day tomorrow. I will let you know the results no matter how good or bad.

Completed day 4 last night.  It really is getting easier.  I was able to do fourteen push-ups in a row...without stopping!  Woohoo!  I used to be able to do like 100 boys push ups in a row...this aging thing sucks!  Weigh day for me is Monday.  Not looking forward to it.  I had Mexican last night...but opted out on the beer...so that was good!

J ~  I am totally cool with looking good no matter what the scale says.  I just don't want a spare tire hanging around my waist!  Look luck on your weigh in!  Smile

Eve~ The blonde pic was post 5-yr relationship break up!  I was on the super model diet... diet coke and smokes!  I def wasn't healthly!  I lost 20 lbs in like two months.  Not good!  Luckily, or unluckily I fell in Love again and fatted her up, so now I look like a large pepperoni.   Laughing

Hi, I am doing the 30 Day shred and I love it! I'm on level 3 now but sometimes I will do 2 levels together (e.g. level 1 and 2).  I didn't do it for 30 consecutive days because muscles need time to rest and your body will tell you when it's time believe me! lol  So far I really like it and have felt it's make a difference in my body overall.  Everything is tighter, toned and inches have been lost.

I log the exercise as circuit training.  When my sister was wearing her HRM she was logging 200+ calories but that is with level 1.  I'm sure each level burns more calories and it also depends on the person.

I told you it would get easier ,good for you. I had to take a break today. I feel like a big loser. I had to though , I have bad circulation in my legs and they  were swollen. I usually workout 7 days a week.  I still want to workout but my husband says not to that im still a little swollen.

Dont feel bad  about the Mexican  I had chineese food the night before. So I think I worked out a little too hard yesterday.

Its funny about gaining weight when you are happy. The same thing happened to me. The first time I used Shred was Feb 08 when my husband went to Customs traing in Georgia. I lost 20 pounds. Then he came back in May and I gained it all back ! From 145 to 172 ! and now here Iam he's back we are happy and Im trying to loose that winter weight. Its not easy... I have to stop weighing myself everyday though. I still weigh 158 but I was 172 when I started in March. I'll tell the kids to hide the scale. It does become obessive. ttyl

OK,

Got on the scale this morning:  148.6--that's a .2 lb loss since last week.Undecided I swear to you all that I have not cheated one morsel. It has to be the working out, because my gut is looking so much flatter. The legs on most of my pants are getting loose, so I know fat is going bye-bye. I must admit that I was disappointed, but I am still heading downward. So, I will accept what I have lost and continue on with the plan. At some point if I persevere, the scale will move.

Thats great ! I havnt seen my weight go down.Frown Still 158. I just want to see that 150 or 55. I guess I weigh myself to much. I just read that you need to take rests in between workouts to see results. Im going to do that this weekend and see what happens. I can do 7 days a week but I've seen  no difference in the numbers. Im assuming that when I workout on Mon it may be more intense because of the break. Then maybe just maybe the numbers will go down. I just have to try not to feel like a loser Sat And Sun because of the lack of exercise. Those darn thighs of mine! My waist is smaller and the booty is lifting but I still look a little chunky from the waist downUndecided Wish me luck ladies

As far as taking a break I thought you guys might be interrested reading this:

http://www.peertrainer.com/LoungeCommunityThr ead.aspx?ForumID=1&ThreadID=21028 I found it interresting .This is exactly where I'm at right now. Let me know what you think...

Eve,

I liked the postings about the abs. Sounds like there is disagreement. Seems like common sense would tell you if you needed to rest or continue. Have had crummy cramps all day. May take today off from the Shred and begin again tomorrow.

Hang in there. It is so disheartening when the scale stops. Don't look at it until Monday--better yet, go cold-turkey with me and hold off till next Friday to weigh. I think I may develop the shakes without my scale-fix, but I hung in there this week.

I felt kind of crummy today also. No working out for me today and my do the same tomorrow. Maybe I'll  do some yoga depending how I  feel. I'm with you , no scale till Friday. It will be hard but I  will avoid it. I think I will give it to my daughter just in case I decide to cheat. Good luck ! I guess I'll talk to you on Fri at weigh in. Keep up the good work.Wink We can do this.

Hope everyone had a healthy and relaxing Memorial Day weekend. I took a 3 day break. Tuesday I start again and I will do my weigh in on Fri. Cool
