30 Day Shred Calories and buddy??
hey all,
I have been doing the Biggest Loser Weight Loss Yoga, and after reading all the raves about the 30 day shred I decided to try that. I have had it for 2 weeks, but just got around to trying it this afternoon (i know, i know). I am planning on doing it everyday for the next 30 days.
I am wondering 2 things....
Anyone want to start the shred in the next couple days and be my 30 day shred buddy? We can check in daily for motivation and track our results. I don't care if you have around the same stats as me, but just so you know I am 24, 180lbs, 5'5. My goal weight is 140-150, and right now I am shooting for the 150.
Secondly, how many calories do you think you burn doing this workout. Right now I am on level one, but plan to go to level 2 and then 3 when I feel comfortable. How do you log the calories burned?
thanks!!
You seem to be working out just as hard as I am .Good for you. I saw your ab pics that's impressive. My stomach is pretty good now too. Its hard for my husband to admit it but today he finally said wow. Which is all I needed for encouragement. I guess its hard for him. He tells me that he missed the fluffy me. 172 pounds of fluff.! No way! But when I was "fluffy" he was making fun of me.. Men
I just want to slim my thighs tone and lift the booty .lol . My stomach looks sort of like yours. My arms are great I have slim arms so the muscle tone is great. Biceps and the whole nine...
Eve,
I agree, you sure do not look your age.
Thanks for sharing your weight progression with Jillian. Sounds like she has really worked for you. Hope I can say the same soon. I have noticed that a "fat wrinkle" on my back has almost gone away. I plan to measure tomorrow and weigh on Friday.
I agree with you that there has to be some diversion worked into the plan. Jillian's workout could get really routine really fast. I need to add in some Pilates, but my daughters have "borrowed" my DVD's so I won't be seeing them again. Don't really want to buy anything new for now. May invest in new videos later. Really want to get through the Shred and try one of the others, first. I agree that I am not ready for the Trouble Zones or Metabolism yet.
Somebody asked about the weights. I only have 3 lbs, so that's what I use. I could bump up with all the exercises except the side lunges with the arm lifts (the one where you lift to the eyes). Those absolutely kill me!!!
Did OK today. Was really hungry most of the day. Ended up with only a 200 cal deficit. Ate 1700 cal; am recommended 1200 but usually am around 1300-1400. Have felt really bloated the past two days. Rings are tight, etc. It's the end of the month and pretty normal for me. Usually gain a lb or two in water before TTOM. Substituted the salt cravings with almonds, yogurt, and salad with escarole lettuce. Am really full (finally) and will stop for the night.
Will Shred tomorrow. Have come up with a workout schedule when I return to work on Friday. Will Shred on my days off and elliptical for the 28 minute weight loss program on Friday and Sunday after work. Saturday will be the designated day off. I walk a lot at work, usually <10,000 steps without walking the stairs. However, after the heavy workout schedule I have carried for the past 3 weeks, I think I can handle the stairs. That should give me 10,000-14,000 steps per day when I work. Those calories are expended throughout my 12 hour shift, but most of the 12's are spent standing and moving; there is not a lot of sitting in my job. I recognize that the daily workout schedule is < 1 hour per day, but remember that I have grad school courses, too. I think I can handle this level of exercise without burning out, quitting, overdoing, or becoming excessively frustrated with myself. What do you guys think?
Well, time for tv. May do my situps while I watch the Lakers/ Denver game.
Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Hey girls! I am spent! I didn't get to the Shred last night but i did get in 2 hrs playing beach volleyball. I forgot how hard it is to play in the sand. I checked and supposedly I burn around 600/hr playing...I only logged 300.
I just finished level 1 day 6 of the shred...then I went to YOU Tube and did 25 minutes of Banish Fat Boost Metabolism....I love it! I am so getting that DVD next. So right now, I am laying the the living room floor cooling down...I really need to get in the shower. :) Happy Thursday tomorrow! And Eve, you look fabulous! Welcome all the new ladies!!!!
P.S. Jez...I made chocolate chip cookies over the weekend...have had one a day...they are so yummy, I just have to indulge!
Thanks Eve! It's so funny that you say that about your husband because my bf was the same way. He loved the "curves" on the old me but agreed with me when I said it was time to tone up...Men! lol Our goals seem to be similar in that I needed to lift my booty too. I nicknamed myself "Sponge Bob Square Pants". I use the word "pants" because the other word I used will probably be edited by the moderators lol
The Shred makes your arms and shoulders look great don't they?! That's what I love most about doing the Shred. Lucky you to have slim arms, my arms always look "big" but the Shred is helping a lot.
I use 5lbs for most exercises and 10 lbs for rows. But you're right, it's time to step it up.
Wow, 5 pounds ! that great. I may move up but I don't think my arms are the problem. I have that stupid little kangaroo pouch woman get after they have kids. Thats what I want to get rid of bad. Plus lose some booty weight and tone tone tone not to mention lift it . Good luck ... I do the burn fat boost metabolism from you tube . Trouble zones from exercise on demand if you have time Warner. Check out Jackie Warner 1 0n 1 training . I worked out with her last year. She doesnt play either .
I'm gong to alternate between jillian and her DVDs . Billy blanks tae-bo cardio blast also great.
I didn't do the Shred last night but did a dvd from the Chalean extreme which felt really good. It's short too (35 mins) and I really feel it in the buns today. I will check out you tube for the BFBM. Thanks!
I'm going away for vacation for a week but I downloaded the 30 day shred level 3 on my blackberry so I can *hopefully* work out when I can while I'm away. Looking forward to reading everybody's successes when I get back.
FYI.. the Jillian Michaels BFBM is Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism.. not burn fat. I did it last night and I loved it. Have fun on vacation!
Wow, I didn't realize you could download movies into your BlackBerry! I just got my first one earlier this month - that is a really good idea to take a workout with you when you travel!!
I didn't do the Shred last night. I slipped on the floor at work (bad rain here in FL) and tweaked my left ankle...and as if that wasn't enough, I almost slipped and ate the pavement in the grocery store parking lot last night and scraped the ! I'm not accident prone, I swear. Trouble just follows me a little too closely.
In light of all that - I took the night off and did my 10,000 steps this morning, I am going to do the Shred tonight on Level 1 to be sure I do an honest ten days on Level 1.
Thanks Rozie!
Dacis: Yes, you can download videos from youtube by going to www.savevid.com and entering in the url of the youtube video you want to convert to an MP4 and download it to your computer. Drag and drop in to the Media Manager and Voila! Ok now I sound like a techy geek lol. BTW, you will need a memory card for your bb if you want to start downloading videos and movies.
Have a great weekend and week everyone. I leave tomorrow morning.
Have a safe trip
Slim
Eve
Awesome, Slim! Thanks for the information. Have a fabulous trip!
I just finished Level 1, Day 10! I think I will probably do Level 1 one last time so that I have two more consistent days in a row with this routine before I move on since I did not do the Shred last night.
I am sweaty (and I presume, stinky!
), so I am going to shower and go to bed so I can do my 10k steps first thing in the morning. Have a great night, ladies!
Good Night everyone!
P S Finally, tomorrow is my weigh in. Its been 7 days since Ive weighed myself. I will definately post if I had any progress or not. I promise...
J mom , I think you weigh in tomorrow also. Good luck .! BTW My thighs are sore
that 3 day rest did a job on me. I think tomorrow I'll do L3 shred. Its only 20 min so maybe just maybe
I'll throw in Billy Blanks Lower Body Boot Camp DVD. I think its 45 min. Then maybe I'll do some yoga on the weekend.
If I do those two I just may need the rest .![]()
Good Morning ladies. Its raining cats and dogs here in Ny! ![]()
I did my weigh in this morning and didnt cheat all week.
I was 158 last Friday.
Drum roll please .... 155! Finally.
I cant believe I was 172 in March! When I joined CC I was 162. I still have 10 pounds to go. 145 is my goal by end of June beginning of July. Dont give up ladies, if I can do it so can you.
Good morning, ladies, and CONGRATULATIONS, EVE!! That is wonderful! Keep working at it, you will get there! What a victory!
I actually weighed myself this morning out of morbid curiosity...I have lost 3.4 lbs. since Tuesday, though I suspect a good bit of that is water weight! I look at it like this, though: that is just 3.4 pounds less for me to worry about, I'm not going to worry about how much more I need to lose, just focus on the little victories.
I'm so glad to see some other people going through what I'm going through right now. I'm only on day 2 of the Shred but I feel like it's killing me sometimes! An accountability buddy would definately be good for me for this. I could see me giving up. It helps to see all of your victories though.
Welcome, missm0nica!
Yes, we have all had our issues with the Shred, but it is definitely a good workout. I remember the first few days I did it, I felt like I was about to keel over. I just finished my 10th day on level 1, and it was MUCH easier than when I first started. You'll notice a change, too, in your endurance after a few more days doing it.
Just think, when you are starting to get tired, just push through it - 26 minutes is not too long of a time to do a workout! You can do this!
Yes, welcome missmonica.
You do get stronger and it does become easier.
On a different note I just finished the B F B M by Jillian and oh my god what a workout! Those jump squats are killers.
I got through it thank god. So when ever you feel like giving up just pull through. If it hurts too much take a 1 second break and start over. You don't want to hurt yourself.
PS I didnt see it post. I weighed myself after a week and I lost 3 pounds. 155!
Eve ,
Ttyl
Goodluck Eve!!!
I am on day 6 of shred tonight, although I still can not make it all the way through without stopping for water or to just catch my breath I feel great, I can do all the jumping jacks, the push-ups and the ab work. I have trouble with the jump rope and the squat leg, arm raise thing. I get no where near my eyes but I keep trying.
I feel like my legs seem toner, hoping to see some improvement in the pooch soon!!!
Great job Eve and Great success to all.
