I'm just starting Jillian Micheal's 30 Day Shred today and wanted to know if anyone else has started it recently and would like to go through it with me!

Hey kirstin, I'm on my 13th day in, but I'd be happy to go through it with you! Have you done it before or is this your first time through it? (it's my first)

Its my first time! I just finished the second workout! Do you do it everyday? I saw somewhere else where someone did it every other day.

Yes, I'm doing it everyday. When I first started, I missed 2 days in a row, mostly due to a hectic schedule, but maybe a teensy bit to do with extremely sore chest and shoulder muscles! It was the push-ups that caused it more than anything else.

I have yet to do it today (level 2, day 3), since the kids have a 5 day weekend, I'm waiting until after they're in bed.

I've seen encouraging results though. There's a great snowball effect going on- I work out, which makes me want to eat healthy, which translates into a favorable weigh-in, which makes me want to continue to work out! I love it!

How are you finding it so far? Are you at a weight lose stage or trying to tone?

Hello there,

I have also tried the 30 day shred....there are a few things that keep me motivated about this workout:

1. Simplicity of exercises - I am not the most coordinated so for me it is perfect (jumping jacks and push-ups I can do...)

2.  20 minutes whoops your booty and Jillian is not annoying - just real!  She makes it pretty clear that we are our own worst enemy in terms of giving up

3.  Minimal fitness accessories needed

I love it - I am a person that needs the gym environment a few days a week for additional motivation, but it helps break up the monotomy of my routine and is great for muscle confusion.

I hear ya' on the soreness, even if you are moderately fit the exercises leave you a little sore.

Good luck and I will post back on my results!

I made it about 9 days last time I started...

I'll join ya beginning tomorrow (had dance class today instead)

I've been watching Biggest Loser on Hulu to get mentally prepared. I kind of like the way Jillian yells at people. Reminds me of my hs field hockey coach...

qmwillcand- I'm going to try to do it everyday as well. My legs are more sore than my upper body because I am using very low weights. I'm really enjoying it so far because its easier to just start this in my living room than head down to the gym (it gives me less excuses). I am looking for a little bit of weight loss and some toning actually. I want to lose about 8-10 pounds and would love my arms to look a good bit more toned. I'm thinking about adding in some work with resistance bands. What about you?

erincassells- I am with you on all three points! I was looking for something that I wouldn't have to purchase a lot of equipment for and this is perfect.

greeneyedbellydancer- I had a softball coach like that.

What type of equipment do you need to do this? It sounds wonderful but I can't really purchase much :(( I have a gym membership and I haven't gone for a couple weeks which makes me feel horrible, like I'm wasting money. But I am sick so... gr.

Anyways how much is this all together?

I hit goal weight in August...and then went on vacation. And ate BBQ'd everything  and chips for almost 2 weeks straight! I gained almost 6 lbs and have been trying to get back to goal ever since. I'm now within 3 lbs of goal :)

I'm the poster girl for skinny fat, so I'm hoping that my belly/butt/thigh area will get firmed up.

A mat and a set of dumbbells (3, 5 or 8 lb).

Perfect! And how much is the program? Is it online or is it a video?? I'm excited :))) I think I'm going to look into it!

I started last night, I am so sore today! it was a good workout though, I was sweating within 2 minutes! we will go through it together!

I found my copy at my grocery store believe it or not...a few of the Biggest Loser videos are good, but the 30day Shred requires 3 or 5 lb dumbells and then maybe a mat (I do mine on the carpet with a towel).

I will be doing mine tomorrow on my day off from going to the gym - it really kicks your butt.  I didn't think jumping jacks could wear me out.  :)

It's awesome!  I am happy that all of you have found something you enjoy to keep you healthy!

** I have lost 1.5 lbs this week and I was at a plateau for 2 weeks so the counting and exercising do work...although I have to eat more than what CC rec in order to lose.  Anyone have that problem?

Good Luck to all of you!

I got my copy at walmart and it was 10 bucks. Not bad at all for the workout it gives me! It is definitely kicking my butt! I played sports in high school and this workout feels like basketball practice all over again!

Im in! i started about a week ago and have done it 5 times. I am trying to lose 15 lbs all of which i carry in my mid section!I also count calories staying around 1600 a day. I am 5ft 10 so that is about the cals i need ... oh and 163lbs. Are you guys counting cals? Are you doing other forms of execise?

I count calories and sometimes I will go to the gym to run on the treadmill or do the elliptical but that's about it!

I alternate my exercise throughout the week. I run a few days a week (2 or 3) at 2 miles per session and then do about 20 minutes of weight lifting. On days that I don't have the endurance or am too fatigued, I only run one mile (indoor rubberized track) and then fartleks (sprints/walk) on the treadmill for 15 minutes or so. 1 or 2 days a week I do 30DayShred. I work about 50+ hours a week so some weeks I work out 3 days and then other weeks I work out 4 days.

I read an article on muscle confusion and I also prevents me from getting bored. I bought a Biggest Loser food scale from Bed Bath & Beyond ($20) and have been trying to count my cals as accurately as possible, but it is pretty difficult some days.

I am 32 yoa @ 149 lbs (5'5) - it does not come off easy for me...my goal weight is 140 and I have not set a goal date because I don't want to get discouraged. I will just keep working until it comes off. I was 162 last January and I have just slowly taken it off.

Bob's (Biggest Loser) Pilates is a good one too - the videos are only 10$ a piece so it is worth it to have a little variation.

I'm having a hard time getting "in the mood" to exercise today. I've missed the last 2 days and don't want it to become habit, then next thing I know it's been a week, then a month since I've done it :S

Hub and I had a date night on Friday, I wore my bikini and felt like I looked alright in it. I don't want to lose that feeling just because I got in a comfort zone! I just have to remind myself that I'll only get looking and feeling better if I stick with it!

How's everyone else doing with it? Am I the only one who's struggling to stay committed?

I get like that every now and then...I have read articles that state that its healthy to take a few days off to recuperate.  Some days I have to talk myself into it and then remember how hard it was to take off.  Always easy to put on...

We have to forgive ourselves for giving in every now and again and then just wake up and remember that we have worked hard to get where we are and this is about our health lifelong.

I am trying to make it a lifestyle so it's not something that I am forced or guilted into.  Don't feel guilty...just get back on the saddle soon.

Good luck!

I did this back in the spring and was obsessed with doing it! I have tried several times to get through it again, but haven't.  I'm going to start it up again tomorrow. Level one here I come!!
