One of my favorite fast meals is just salsa, heated in a pan, then throw in some cooked shrimp and heat it up.  I serve it over brown rice with a salad.  What could be faster?
I spray mine with like Calorie Free Spray butter, a little Cajun spice and broil them turn them once do it again and yummy in about 10 mins. Don't cook them too long they dry out. I eat them as a side dish with veggies or potatoes. I don't eat them but maybe once a week or every other week, too much cholesterol for me, but I love shrimp. I also but them over brown rice cooked that way.
How low cal does it need to be?  Following is my favorite way to cook shrimp.  I think it probably clocks in around 250.  I typically serve it with rice and a good crusty bread, which is not within the 250 guess.  Perhaps for a special dinner?  I find that it impresses folks.  I hacked it from an Emeril LaGasse recipe.

Shrimp Etoufee

Dice a large onion, 3-4 stalks of celery, one red pepper, one green pepper.  Heat up 4 tbsp of butter in a pot and add 4 tbsp of flour.  Cook the flour (stirring constanstly) until it is a shade similar to peanut butter.  Add the veggies and saute them until they are soft.  Add about 1 cups of stock (slowly and while stirring), 1 can drained tomatoes, 2 bay leaves, a few tsps of thyme, a pinch of cayenne (BAM).  Let this simmer for about 20 minutes.  Add the shrimp, cook until the shrimp are cooked (if using fresh) or heated through (if using cooked).  Fish out the bay leaves, stir in a squeeze of lemon, and serve over rice with crusty bread.  A few splashes of hot sauce (BAM) as desired.

The butter/flour is important, you can't skimp on that.  I've never tried margarine, but it should work.

Here is shrimp recipe I put up on this site just for you! I lived in Ecuador for several years and this was one of my favorite seafood dishes there. What is your recipe for the shrimp cocktail?

http://caloriecount.about.com/recipe/74829.ht ml

Ceviche
1 cup plain fat free yogurt scallions tomatos lemon zest parsley food process, add cooked shrimp serve over anything pasta rice or eat plain

hi, you are my first post ever on this site. and well I just love shrimp too, I take about 15 shrimp and boil them and peel them..  setting a side. I then cut up one green onion, 1 half green pepper, chop up one mushroom, and add about 4 sprigs of broccoli, I add 1 pat of butter, (which is half on a tbl) for flavor, and Garlic (as much as you like)

I spray my pan down with cooking spray.. and add the butter I saute the veggies first then add the shrimp, when hot and sizzling I add two tbl spoons of lemon juice.. then I serve it over rice or I just eat it.. Rice seems just as fattening as pasta and potatoes.. so if I can avoid it I do. It taste pretty good too.

Welcome kuffy!  Love the recipe because it's simple and elegant.

Tip from an old timer:  If you limit your serving of rice to 1/2 cup, and make it brown rice, it balances out the meal.  You need your whole grains!  Nothing is fattening if you control the portion.  That means that pasta, potatoes and grains are no more fattening than any other food.  You just have to control your portions to stay within your calorie target for the day.

Seconding Claire, wholegrains are not bad for you nor any more fattening than anything else. Just control your portion size.

tgegogeine: With shrimp/prawns, I like them as an omelette filling, personally. That, or gyoza. Otherwise known as wontons or pot stickers. xD

There's a good CC recipe here for a filling: Prawn Gyoza Filling. You'd then fill your gyoza/won ton wrappers with a blob of the filling, wet the edges with your finger or an egg wash brush using water and then seal it (similar to how you would an envelope, and steam them all for about 7-10 minutes. Gyoza wrappers come in at about 20 calories each, but are also fairly small sized. You can find them in asian supermarkets and some larger supermarkets, too.

Still, these not only make a great snack or party food, but can easily be part of a meal with a good portion of the gyoza and some brown rice, sweet chilli sauce for dipping, and vegetables alongside. Yum.

This isn't the fanciest recipe, but it's the easiest and quickest EVER.

Shrimp + trader joe's "Pasta Spice" mix in a bowl, spray bowl and then shrimp with a generous few spritzes of 0-cal butter spray

Microwave until it looks like the shrimp are in a puddle of butter (their juice mixed with the spices mixed with the spray)

Add pre-microwaved broccoli, shake it around and use the shrimp juice / butter as a garlic sauce for the broccoli.

5 calories per shrimp, 5 per broccoli stalk, about 10 for the spray/seasonings!  AND it's delicious AND only needs a microwave and bowl!

If you can't get to trader joes, experiment with spices you like (I like garlic, lemon, and paprika)

Soft Tofu soup (modified).

In stone pot add half a cup of stock. I like to use chicken stock. Once it is boiling add silken tofu (drained), add chillie powder to taste. Let it boil and mix for a few minutes, then add shrimp towards the end. Let it boil until shrimp is cooked. Top of with one egg. Serve with rice.
