Ugh.  Here I am dealing with a head cold and at the same time looking at my chin in the mirror.  I have gained in the last day or two, I can tell.  I know in my intellectual part of my brain that as an educated individual this too shall pass.

But the little kid in me is whining.  I am so wasted that I am pretty much eating junk... just when I should really be concentrating on eating great.  Body needs good foods for recooperating, but I want salt and sweets.   Uff...  ::making frustrated sound effects::

I am not sure where to turn in my house.  I dont want to stand in the kitchen and chop veggies and cook.  I have done two Tombstone 9 inch pizzas (in the past would have been 12"ers) within the last three days.   I even felt like that was too much work.  I want to suck down a gallon of high carb OJ and a half gallon of honey laced green tea, munch on some chips and tell the world to kiss my growing tush.

This is at the same time that I want to be out there walking, going for the exercise, peeling off the weight and making progress!   I am impatient and already feeling chubby again.

Ditto...Been off the forums for a few days with a terrible head cold and severe throat irritation. I am barely out of bed for more than 20 minutes. I read on the forums a few times that the best thing to do is just get the fluids down (especially with the no appetite).  Lots of OJ, Yogi Throat Tea and the ever so glorious cold medicine.

Chin up and know that once you feel better, walking and excercise is going to feel FABULOUS!

Thanks for making me smile with the visuals...::smiling for the first time through the giant disappointment in being sick too!
Lost artist.. I'm sorry that u're sick >_< I hope u'll get better soon.. An my suggestion to make u better are.. may be u could ask somebody to get some instant oatmeal, or soup for u.. (ex: campbell chicken soup) or the other good food is a bowl of rice porrige (low calories, u can make it with fat free chicken broth and put some chunks of chicken breasts+ added a lil salt, thats what my parents always wake me if i were sick). And u can stay warm under the blanket with a cup of hot non fat cocoa milk (The one that has 10-15 cal only) and watch ur favorite dvd :))) .
I live by myself and i do understand how it feels when i was sick.. I was like "Aww i wanna go home :(((  ) But making urself comfortable, eating soothing foods (Like soup), and enjoy ur time.. Do not rush urself to excercise until u feel better, but just track on the calories.. Eating fruits helps alot too :))
I hope u do feel better.. I will pray for u :)

p.s. I also have a bad sore throat and headache, is it the weather or what??
it's something.... I was at the doc with strep and tonsilitis on monday!! Boo!
oK this is freaky.. now My cold gets worse, and I feel too lazy to go to the gym. My nose is running and I feel all my joints hurt.. I wanna stay in bed til the end of the moth!! haha jk.. I will have school in Monday, hope i feel better soon :P
Aw, I'm sorry you're sick :(  I'm going through the same thing.  I've had such a bad sore throat and have been so tired in the last 3 days that I was convinced I had mono or something (haha, I don't).  I exercised anyway on Tuesday and almost passed out.  yesterday it just wasn't gonna happen.  So instead of saying "I'm not working out today so I need to be especially aware of what I eat"  I did the "I'm sick so screw it" thing and ate way too much.  It wasn't stuff that was BAD really (I couldn't swallow the chinese takeout that the BF offered to buy me) but I think 3 gigantic chocolate soymilk smoothies with banana and peanut butter was a bit excessive...

Hope everyone is feeling better.  Go out and get some Airborne.  That stuff is seriously a miracle.  It got me over the flu last year in 2 days.  I've been drinking it since I started feeling sick and I'm feeling much better today.
star 1020 is right..feel better everyone ..and get some echinacea(did i spell that right?)you know they say prevention is better than cure!
yup..ive got the flu. and i just had a DONUT. great jen. good job. eww. haha.
{{{hugs~n~hankies}}} for all us sickos!

lots of fluids, chicken broth/soup, orange juice with pulp!

lots of rest...

it gets better, promise :)  i'm on the tale end... but my problem is i get to feeling better and then i get up and going and then feel worse... it's hard to keep getting enough rest and to lay low...  but it takes time to kick this stuff... so hang in :)
this brings to mind the question... can sicknesses be passed through message boards? for now im washing my hands as well as my keyboard after every use.
Ugh. I hear you. I'm sick with a stomach flu.

Now, for anyone who doesn't know this: a stomach flu is not a weight loss program. I stepped on the scale this morning and found I was UP five pounds since I got sick.

How is it possible that I can't hold food down and I'm gaining weight? Ugh. It ain't fair.

I'm assuming that as soon as this is over and I get back into my sweats, the weight will drop back off, but MAN... I never thought this would result.

<hands tissues to lost_artist>
I havent logged food for days.  My chest is bigger in my bra again, my chin is rounder underneath.  My energy level is shot to hell to the point where tonight I was crying and feeling very depressed and emotional over a game.   this went from head cold to broncitis and my severe dust mite allergies are making it worse.

I had to come on and moan and vent.  Thank you all for putting up with it.  Right now I have this wonderfully calm gentle and loving new puppy in the house and I am blue.  Thats how lousy I feel.  That just is not right.  I certainly do not want to go to work tomorrow or Sunday, but no one else is here to pay the bills. Its just me.  I am feeling very sorry for myself, I guess.

My boyfriend said if I dont feel better by Monday he will drive the hour 15 to come and buy me medicine.  I am not sure how to take that?  Why wait until monday?  oh yeah right, because he only cares about sex and wants me healthy for our date on Wednesday?  ::rolls her eyes and sneezes::  blah, another reason to pout.  I would like to really whine and call my mother for support but she didnt really raise me or mother me, so thats like asking for something she doesnt know how to do.

PITY PARTY!!!!    ::coughing up green globs and feeling very far from pretty::  If my boss thinks I am wearing a dress to work tomorrow, he can kiss my widening behind!!!!  ~ Lost Artist

p.s. ::Accepts the kleenex from cmillington:: Thank you.  Though if you hand out too many, wont your pompoms go flat?

And thank you everyone for posting on this string.  I so needed the humor and the support.  Right now I feel cut off, beat down and run over... and very alone.
My mama use to make me bread pudding when I was sick and feeling blue. It always worked to make me feel better. I don't know if it was the bread  pudding or the TLC in it but it sure made me feel all warm and cozy. Recovery was quick.

I told J-P this story  once and the first time I came down with the flu he went to the internet, found a recipe and made a pan, (tasted just like Mom's). Now the recipe is in the medicine cabinet. Can't get any better than this.

Drink lots of fluids, and take you vitamin C.
Lost Artist ~ ack, feel better!  Do you have a day off any time soon?  I had yesterday off and I stayed in my PJs all day and alternated sleeping and watching movies and it definitely did the trick.  I'm still tired today and coughing just a wee bit but that's it.

And seriously, everyone - Airborne.  It's these little tablets that you dissolve in a cup of water and they have echinacea, ginger (for upset tummies), vitamin C, and all other kinds of good stuff in there.  I like the lemon-lime flavor.  I was actually drinking one a day for a while to try to stay healthy (I work in a high-risk for illness job) but it got too expensive, so now it's just when I'm sick.  If you drink one every few hours though it'll shorten your illness by quite a few days.
Lost_artist, love, I'm dieting to MAKE my pom-poms flat.

<giggle>

Three cheers for flattening our pom-poms!!
<<hugs>> lost_artist

your post me LMAO.  You are sooo funny.  Even when you're sick and not trying to be funny.

Hoping your feeling a bit better today.
::smiles at the compliments::   I so needed that, thank you one and all.  Star I cant take herbal supplements because they do not mix well with my bi-polar medicines.  Wish I could.  I have been downing OJ like crazy.  Lots of sugar, but its what makes my throat happy and I know the Vitamin C is great for me.   No days off until Tuesday.

Aw, man I never thought about drug interactions.  I just started on Wellbutrin for depression/ADD and I wonder if anything would mess with that....

Mmmm...bread pudding would rule.
Well, if it's any consolation... you burn alot more calories fighting off a cold ;)
bleh. i lost weight with the fever. nto that that's a good thing. i can barely eat. but i also heard that fevers increase your metabolism. makes sense since youre sitting there at 102 degrees.

im still not better. and i have a final tomorrow. SAVE ME.
