Signs of an increased metabolism

Quote  |  Reply

I am in recovery from anorexia and have recently got my calorie intake up to 1600-1700. I know that before, my body was in starvation mode so my metabolism would have been really slow, but i think now it might be starting to get faster.

What are the things to look out for that tell you your metabolism has increased?

I've started to feel very hungry a lot of the time (even after meals), every night I wake up from being too hot (whereas I used to have to sleep with lots of layers as I'd get so cold) and my therapist who monitors my pulse told me it has increased quite a bit in the past 2 weeks. Are these signs?

Yes, I remember starting to feel "hunger" again after that starvation period- never felt hot at night but ive heard other people say that. I guess its probably the body saying "ooh, I have fuel now" and generally having enough calories to function properly

Feeling hot at night when you used to feel cold is a sign of increased metabolism.

When mine increases, I would some times sweat at night after eating. I am not sure if this is related, but after I ate a lot, my body would sweat at night and feel hot.

grapefruit_  i am in EXACTLY the same position as you!

recovering anorexic and pulse is increasing and feeling hot at night and getting hungry after meals :)

i hope its a sign our metabolism is increasing. i cant wait to be normal again and eat proper meals and actually get hungry and allow ourselves to eat!!

inbox me if you'd like :)

same here! this makes me happy because i thought my metabolism was going to be gone for good. i sweat all the time at night and i am soooooo hungry after dinner! wow great post (:

may i ask, are you gaining weight on your intake?

message me anytime!

lillyla24 and asshhlleeyy64 - its so good to hear other people are experiencing the same thing - my body's not abnormal!

No I'm not gaining weight on my current intake... if anything I'm still losing. I know I'm meant to be gaining but it makes me feel so relieved that i can increase my intake and not suddenly pile on loads of weight.

Can I ask what is your current intakes are?

oh i remember when i first started getting hungry feelings again i also would wake up in the morning and be like really sweaty.  i found it extremely gross but i was happy cuse i was like ohhh yesssss!! ha but its kind slowed down but i still get hungry but i feel more normal you know...like my metabolism has found a happy medium maybe??? i dont know but the only bad thing about that was the sweat clogged my pores and HELLLOOOO breakout city!!! haaha but i just got this presciption medicine for that cuse the sweatin is still clogging but ive accepted it and im happy for the most part...except now i find that when i dip under 2500 for even just one day just a little bit...i loose.

But my intake is anywhere between 2500- 3500.  whenever i go a week where my intake is pretty much just at 2500 everyday though i dont gain is what im finding...so i need more to gain.

i have around 1600 although i need waaaay more than that, i keep pushing for more everyday (:

Hmmm...... I never sweat unless it 100 degrees outside. And i used to have a superfast metabolism. It slowed as I got older and had kiddos but  sweating was just something I didn't do. I was a dancer for over 14yrs and I still hardly ever broke a sweat.

Guess my body was just used to it?????

Anyways...glad to hear your kicking the disorder in the butt. Congrats.
