As we merrily move forward on this exciting diet / weight loss / eating healthier / new lifestyle journey, I find that I am spending more and more time talking to myself, trying to stay encouraged and motivated. (Hmmm.... I just admitted in public that I talk to myself, great ....) Sometimes I am repeating things I've heard elsewhere, or sometimes I just make up my own SILLY SAYINGS! In case I'm not alone in doing this, I thought I would see if anyone else has any other motivational diet "Silly Sayings" that they wanted to share.

(It's ok to share non-silly sayings, too ....)

"With your diet, don't dawdle -- if you don't want to waddle!"

"Bigger snacks means bigger slacks"

"It's better to laugh or to giggle, than to eat more and jiggle!"

Hmm, there's always the classic "a moment on the lips, forever on the hips" and "nothing tastes as good as thin feels."  These have helped to motivate me in the past.  Yours are much cuter, though, Molly :)  If I think of more, I'll add them.

OOooooo .... the classics are always good!

Now that it is cooler it seems like I have to say this to get myself out the door...You gotta move it to lose it...

my running mantra- quitters don't get skinny! Pretty bad but it seems to work

Molly you are my hero by the way- your approach to this whole diet concept is amazing :-)

I didn't make this one up, but it's my favorite:

Don't dig your grave with your own knife and fork!

Hey, these are great ... THANKS!!!!

(and keep 'em coming!)

You gotta eat right for the fat to take flight
You did say silly right?  I couldnt think of any silly ones so I decided to change some them hoping to make them silly.

A minute on the lips means wipe your mouth already.
Nothing tastes as good as when its not moldy.
Eat to live, but breathe to live too.

Not terribly motivating though.

Ah, just imagine millions (well, thirty) little 1-lb sticks of fat taking flight, serenly flapping their wings into the stratosphere! *lqtm*

I stole this from my mom's cook books but I think it's one of my favourites.

"Eat, Shrink, and be Merry!"
Molly, I love "Bigger snacks mean bigger slacks!"
So true, as I've unfortunately found out!  ;-)
This is more of an exercise mantra, to keep me going when I'm out of breath on the elliptical, but I just tell myself... "I am strong through faith.  With faith, I have strength.  Without it, I have nothing."  Or, in that same line of thought, I'll tell myself, "If God wills it, I can do it."  And since I know that God would want me to be healthy, I know that I can find the strength to get through that particular challenge.  It could work for dieting too, I guess, if you're a person of faith.
Im stealing ""Eat, Shrink, and be Merry!" as my slogan for my pursuing my christmas goal.

For people just starting out with weight loss

"eat, drink. and be merry, for tomorrow we die-t"

And I use this for many different things and adjust it accordingly

"According to the book, it takes 3500 fewer calories to lose a pound of fat, but I don't think my fat can read"

okay, not really specifically a diet saying, but (and this will just show off how insanely nerdy i am) whenever i'm going through something difficult (a hard part of a hike/workout, a mental struggle, anything really) i just think "this is nothing compared to what frodo had to go through"*blushes and runs off   -and i'm stealing the 'eat shrink and be merry' for the holiday season too! maybe my family will FINALLY take me up on offering to make/secretly healthy-up some of the side dishes and then we can really believe that mantra!
Eat wise, drop a size.
Don't do what I do,
Just do what I say,
Decrease your calories today,
You'll have a smile when you weigh.

Give up that fat - watch your belly go flat.
