I'm 5'7 and about 115 lbs. My highest weight was up to 170 in 12th grade. I gained mostly because I did not exercise for one year I had been eating crap the year previous and I was on paxil which may or may not have contributed to the weight gain. When I was younger I had been thin with a few fluctuations into the almost a bit chubby but then  I would always revert to being slim. In 7th grade I became 30 lbs overweight about 150 but then I lost the weight because I started to exercise a little everyday. Thus going into 8th grade at 120. I count calories because I really don;t trust myself. I honestly don't know why the weight gain was so severe because although I ate crap food when going out with friends I otherwise did not eat alot. SO how does one become so overweight when they never really ate?If people can be unnaturally thin then I would suppose they can be unnaturally fat right? Perhaps this post makes no sense whatsoever could a leading contributer to the gain have been paxil? I'm so confused about everything. I have a small frame and don't really carry weight well, my hips are narrow. Is it okay that I weigh 115? Because my clothes fit I look good and feel good. BMI says I'm underweight but I don't think so.

hi.  just an opinion:

I was overweight and "hardly" ate the right food.  I would have white bread, loaded with butter, an entire bag of potato chips, frozen dinners for lunch, no fruit, no vegatables, no REAL food with nutrional value.  Added, I didn't have any physical activity.  That was overweight for me.

As for underweight, I have no clue how old you are.  I used 20 as an age and female on CC and it gave me your BMI of 18, just .5 below the recommended healthy BMI range.  So, it makes it difficult to comment on this part.  I am on the low end of the healthy BMI scale, and like you, I feel great!  I eat and follow the food pyramid guidelines with added physical activity.

Based on the missing info. of age, personally, I wouldn't be too concerned with weight.  I do not intend to be rude, however, usually as a woman ages, usually, she tends to be a bit "heavier".  Assuming that you are 20, I wouldn't worry too much about being "underweight" unless, you are undereating and restricting your calories.

In which case, a trip to the doc or a nutrionist would be a very good idea, especially if you are undereating.

Thanks so much for the input it's just with regular activity I tend to get rather thin and I'm not restricting my intake I just kept losing weight. I'm going to be see a ob-gyn soon so perhaps I will talk to her about any concerns I might have. I'm 19 by the way I suppose I should of mentioned that.

I hate that stupid BMI scale. If you honestly feel good and full of energy, aren't restricting yourself, and look healthy, there is little issue.
