Hi!!

so Ive been increasing my calorie intake for almost 2 weeks, ranging the first week from 3000-4000 kcals, and then droping to 1500-2000 (supposed to be around 1700-2100), i didn't actually planned it, just happened that way. The first week I gained 2 real pounds-plus water weight- and then nothing..... Anyway, I do not want to gain anymore.... However, Ive been experiencing some symptoms and wondered if anyone did.

-bloated stomach (I know most of u do)

-trembling hands, arms, legs

-hot flashes

-weakness/ being sleepy

-water weight that comes back and then disappears, making ur weight fluctuate a lot....

and if u had any, what do they mean? I do not know if I have an electrolyte imbalance, probably low potassium....

thanks in advance!!!

my guess is your confusing your body , your trembling and weakness is probably due to low blood sugar your body has adapted to the amount of calories you were giving it and its now wondering what the heck going on. fair enough if it just happened i have days where i go off it but this will cause the fluctuation in your weight  if i was you id try to stick to a consistent amount and nothing under 2500 h x

I don't get this why 3000-4000 and then back down to 1500-2000 does that make sense rationally? Even if you are going from gain to maintain one does not drop by 2000 calories. Are you at a healthy weight now or are you just trying to control your body? In any regards with the symptoms you have you need to go to your gp. It may be part of the refeeding or could be a sign of something else. I would also encourgage you to look at what you are eating and be more consistent.

abbies right h x

First of all, you really should keep your caloric intake at a pretty steady level, so as not to confuse your body, to maintain energy and to gain weight in the healthiest way possible.

When gaining weight while in recovery from anorexia, many times I have experienced what you are describing.  The night sweats (ever wake up with your sheets soaked every night?  I have), the temperature regulation problems, stomach pain/nausea, and just in general feeling ill.  The best explanation I could get from a doctor is that your body is in a hypermetabolic state.  Here's a blog entry someone posted about it:  http://ed-bites.blogspot.com/2009/01/more-on- hypermetabolism.html

ohmg ok! here's what happened

I went with my mother's family for a week and there's so many ppl! my mom has 5 bro's n 3 sisters...so 9 in total..... and I have around 20 cousins! so it is fair enough to say that my grandma and all the ladies are ALWAYS busy in the kitchen cuz there's so many ppl. Most of them are obese, like with a 25-30 BMI. Anyways, I went there for a week and as I was starving before, I didn't care and ate as much as I could, sometimes healthy sometimes unhealthy. When I came back home, I had tons of water weight so I had to struggle with my ED. The first day after that chaotic week... I ate 1000 kcals, and the next I said.."ok, I wanna do this right, do not freak out"  n I managed to eat 1500...ive been in 2000 since then, not gaining anything. I am quite slim now (used to be obesed when kid, then depression took off most of my extra kilos, and after some years ...ED!), but never been underweight (My slowest BMI was 20...so u see). I know it wasn't good for my body, but I do not think I was much in control of myself (bingeeee eating...). I am 5 ft 3 in and...114 lbs. I am going through a lot, actually just 2 days ago I went to a psychiatrist. I was in a residential program 8 months ago n all but after I went out I stopped going to my appointments. pretty messy life....anyway I guess we all have one.

Thanks all for the responses! and i will try to continue at 2000, but it scares the hell out of meee.....

this site is so supportive...thanks again!!! to all of uu!!
