My sister is pregnant!! Whoo-hoo!! :)

I'd like to put together a "pregnancy package" for her and I need suggestions Smile

I'd like a combination of stereotype jokey things and actual useful things. My ideas so far: dill pickle chips, recipe for my best-in-the-world brownies, heartburn tablets, foot lotion.

Any other suggestions? Laughing

gift certificate to a spa!

If she is into reading great books are always helpful during the last stent of a pregnancy. Crosswords and puzzle books are also good because the last round of it you just sometimes only wanna veg out and sit around and you need something to do on days your so darn tired...............

Vitamin E lotion.

My sister put this on her tummy everyday when she was pregnant. She has always been SUPER TINY and her doc suggested this to reduce the stretch marks remaining after baby born. She doesn't have any. Well, now she does, b/c she is pregnant again. But after she had the first one, they didn't stay long.

Thank you all for the great ideas Smile

The What to Expect when you are Expecting and What to Expect the First Year are EXCELLENT choices if she is a first time mommy. There is even a What to Expect book covering the toddler years! I used these like bibles for all 4 of my kids!!!

They are invaluable for giving info on everything from what the embro looks like during each stage to what to do when you are having trouble potty training. Kid having Night Terrors, it's in there. Kid got a bee sting, it's in there. Kid hitting other kids? It's in there. Mommy having heartburn during pregnancy, it's in there. Mommy's ankles swelling, tender breasts, sex, lack of energy, weird dreams, moodiness, you name it it is in there!  Totally LOVE them!

Not only that, chapters are broken down into months for baby's ages as well as pregnancy, so I only would read whatever chapter covered the age my child was! I would only have to read one chapter per month to get the skinny on what was going on with my body and later, what was in my babys head! (Priceless when you have NO time).

those like microwaveable rice sacks for heating pads for your back and hips.

back or foot massager (the ones you can roll your feet or calf on or the one that her hubby can rub her with)

ginger candy for upset stomach.

books to make her cry ;)

journal to keep her progress and such for the baby (i did this for mine-- not sure ill ever give it to her, but it was a valuable outlet for allthose preg hormones and such)
I have two suggestions:

Body pillows so she has something to help when she can't seem to get comfortable.

Pretty pregnancy underwear so it's not as disheartening when she's get too big for everything inside her underwear drawer.
I second all of the suggestions above. I don't have any suggestions of my own (except maybe a book on breastfeeding, or a good breast pump, if you've got that much to spend); I just wanted to say what a great sister you are to do this!
Prego pops! Its a candy sucker that takes morning sickness away!
hehe a mirror so she can see her feet in the last 9 mths...and for other um grooming...

flip flops for when her feet are so swollen that she cant wear other shoes...

ooh a belly belt thing that holds up the belly while it gets big.  it really helped people i know from getting strech marks when they used it.  and bella bands to use before you need maternity clothes but your old clothes dont quite fit right yet.

a camera to take montly belly pics-- she might hate them now but they are so nice to have later.

um.  i want to be pregnant again!!!  oh and its early but the lanisoh lanlolin is awesome for nipples for nursing and is a great moisturizer for now-- i use it on lips, fingernails, etc.  has lasted forever!!

And let her know that it's okay if she can't breast feed. Some women can't produce enough milk. I felt horrible because I wanted to so badly. I saw a poster reading ' Babies were meant to be breastfed ' and broke into tears! Because I couldn't produce enough breast milk. I was having to supplement partly formula partly breastmilk. Because my baby wasn't getting enough nourishment. It wasn't until a older friend of a friend had a talk with me that I felt okay about it. Just make sure she knows regardless she's a good mommy. It's a horrible thing when someone has bought their breast pump, breast feeding pillows, books to learn, then tries and tries... but their bodies just won't produce enough.

Another idea is creating a lil book for her. Have every woman in your family write down something helpful, they learnt in their pregnancy. It's just a personal tidbit to add to something like the book. " What to expect when you're expecting. " Something from actual friends and family with their own lil tidbits. Such as " If you have acid reflect during pregnancy, a natural cure is warm milk with honey. " If you have enough family members and friends with that have had babies, it would make a great gift. Kinda a keepsake. =-P
What to expect when you're expecting - the book.  It is FABULOUS!  Congrats!

Congratulations Auntie!!!

I've heard cocoa butter for stretch marks too.

It would be nice to include something for the new baby.  When my friends found out they were pregnant, I got each of them a small stuffed animal that was gender-neutral.

I also second the body pillow.  My friends who have had children have said that the next time, they are definitely getting a pregnancy pillow to support their bellies.
