Quote  |  Reply

Howdy - just joined and am looking at the navigation so excuse me if this is a silly/easy question.  But is there a way that net calories are shown - for instance you are eating so many calories, get in so much exercise, so net calories (in other words can have more calories based on exercise)??  Love the site, by the way - I don't know why it's taken me so long to find it!

ex - fitday person!!

Hi,

I'm guessing that you won't like my answer, but surely the aim is to only eat a limited number of calories (based on height, weight and age etc...) and in that way lose weight. Adding exercise into the mix aids weight loss as it burns more calories (forcing your body into consuming body fat to release the energy) and to also increases your metabolism, meaning that you burn more calories during the day. It also adds muscle, which burns more calories...

Surely exercising just to eat more is counter-productive. If you are running out of calories, I would look at what you are eating. I'm guessing you are including a fair amount of processed or ready prepared food to use up the calories from your allowance.

One thing that I have found helps, is to eat smaller meals, 6 times a day. Eat slowly, I found that I was in the habit of shoveling food into my face till the plate was empty, rather than till I was full. By eating smaller more frequent meals, I don't get as hungry and actually eat less calories

You're right, didn't like the answer/lecture.  So is the answer to my question a no?  I guess so.

Sorry I didn't mean it to sound like a lecture
