My sits bones get very sore during after bike riding
I'm new at biking (I have a mountain bike). For starters, I ride the 10 mile bike path in a forest preserve where I live. It's quite challenging fo me. During and after the ride my sits bones (ischial tuberosities) get so sore.
At first I thougt I had a bruises, but I know it's my bones. I also bought a gel seat pad and I still feel pain. Am I sitting wrong or something? Thanks!

Do you wear bicyle specific shorts?
Maybe you can try a different saddle. Somtimes too soft is bad and vice versa. Maybe your saddle is to big or small for your body.

I don't have any bicyle shorts. I just wear yoga pants or stretchy capris. What's the difference?
I never thought about the saddle or seat size. I guess I may need a smaller size because I'm skinny. I'll look that up.

Bike shorts have a padded crotch which helps immensely. But, the reality is that you likely need to just ride more - everyone I know ends up with sore sitz bones when they first start riding a lot, or go for longer. Good luck!

I had the same problem when I started riding my bike a couple of months ago. I woke up the morning after my first ride and couldn't figure out what in the heck that soreness was until I hopped on the bike later that day. Then it clicked. I just grinned and bore it and after a few more rides I developed a nice crotch callous. & nbsp; It will get better. I rather enjoy pain so it didn't much bother me ;)

everyone gets it when they first start riding. the more you ride, the less often it will hurt.

Lots of companies also make saddles that are specifically designed for male and female anatomies. It won't get rid of the soreness altogether but it does help keep it away from particularly sensitive areas.
Terry makes saddles designed specifically for women, as does Specialized. Specialized's saddles come in three widths?you can sit on a piece of memory foam at the bike shop and they measure the distance between the indentations your sit bones make, and then get you the correct saddle. Make sure you start with the right line, though?Specialized saddles come in men's and women's versions, and they really are made with different geometries (try www.specialized.com, and click on "Designs for Women").
I ride on a medium-width Specialized Avatar Gel, and I absolutely love it. On my longest rides, I also wear Pearl Izumi Ultrasensor shorts, which have some padding under the sit bones; however, Sugoi shorts also work well, and they have a chamois instead of a pad.
