Six Week Body Makeover. Anyone tried it?

Quote  |  Reply
I'd liek some input on this Sex Week Total Body makeover system. I just ordered it and it seems legitimate. I've tried Nutrisystem and lots of other things before but nothing has really worked well, Nutrisystem tasted horrible and you had to buy way too much extra food.
But with this system there's no food sent so it seems like it would be better.
Anyone ever tried it? Any success or failure stories? I'd like to know more about the system from people who are on it.
Thanks.

I'm doing the Six week body makeover now and I love it. Lost 5 pounds the first week. It's hard getting used to eating every 3-4 hours. I stay full and I cheat just a tad, like using bbq sauce on my chicken or a little butter on my potatoes. I've got my sister and sister-in-law and her family doing this now because they see how well and fast it is working for me. Good luck with it and let us know how you are doing.

I've read through the messages for this forum.  I have tried the 6WBMO plan with some success. And I want to say to those who gave up, did you really try?  Do you really think you can lose weight eating fast food and sugar?  Did you read the reasons why your body type fails on those kinds of foods?  It all comes down to body chemistry.

I have alot of weight to lose I tried this program about 5 years ago.  In 7 weeks I lost 23 lbs.  I am the hardest type, A, Endomorph.  Basically the metabolism of a rock. My program is pretty restrictive.  lots of chicken, green vegies, berries.  My problem with it is that I got bored with the food.  But to be honest, I didn't do a whole lot with it either.  I was eating the same every day by choice, I could have tried harder to create some better, more interesting meals.

When I did the program I did not exercise.  I ate butter and salt on my vegies and had cheese on my egg whites.  I did not lose any weight for 14 days, then I lost 12 lbs practically overnight.  And another 11 lbs over the next month.

Had I stayed on the program I probably would have lost more weight, certainly not in 6 weeks but I had way more then 30 to lose. But I sort of just phased the program out of my life, 5 years later I gained back some of the weight - even though I eat a pretty heathy diet.  I struggle with the same 10 lbs up and down, no matter what I do.  I've been diagnosed with thyroid and hormonal imbalances which seem to further aggrivate the problem. I also have poor digestion issues.

I want to say that I have tried every diet under the sun, EVERYTHING.  The 6WBMO was the only one I actually could stay on and had some success with. Eating something every 2-3 hours really does keep you from getting overly hungry.  Eating protein with your carbs keeps them from turning to sugar and getting stored as fat and you feel more satisfied then eating a granola bar.

Sugar is the main culprit of many ailments from weight to inflamation of the joints.  It is toxic to your body and for many of us who struggle, can be detrimental to your success.  In all my attempts, I never really quit the sugar.  My new goal, quit sugar. It isn't easy.  I love sweets, mostly good chocolate.  According to my nutritionist, even "a little bit" will kill your metabolism and hault your progress - including sugar substitutes like splenda.

My friend and I are going to try it again.  This time I'm going to vary the food prep, add more fish, less salt.  Add some good fats and definitely more exercise.  I am 40 years old, and it gets harder and harder every year.  Every Jan 1, I made resolutions to lose weight and exercise, for 13 years I've been making that same resolution and failing.  My sister who is 12 years older then me has diabetes, Rhumetoid arthritus, asthma, and a whole list of daily aches and pains.  She has never faithfully exercised a day in her life.  She has been overweight for more then 30 years.  My sister will probably live to only 65 if she doesn't do something to take care of herself.  I do not want to follow in her footsteps and I can already see that I am.

Ladies, do something before it creeps up on you and then you can't do it.  If you lose weight when you diet, then diet now, while you can! For those like me, don't give up!  Go see a holistic doctor who can give you great advice on what your body needs and why.  Eat organic, lose the processed foods.  You will feel better.

Learn about your body, become in-tune with it and you will start to realize that you feel crappy after you eat that donut or fried foods.  After going organic for 4 years I can tell when something starts to bother me, a sudden headache appears after eating a dessert or my stomach starts churning after eating ice cream, those are food sensitivities, your body telling you it doesn't like what you feed it.  Quit eating those things.  It's hard, I know.

Good luck ladies - you are all here because you struggle - I hope your struggles are less then mine.  Wish me luck everyone, I need it!

Color me de ja vu!  Reading cchoagie's post was like reading my own experience with the 6WBMO plan (I also have a thyroid problem that was recently diagnosed, so I have that going for me).  I also tried this plan, among a long list of other plans that I tried and couldn't stick with, and lost about 25 pounds in 4 weeks (I'm a Type A too according to the program), but it was very difficult to maintain as a permanent solution.  I'm a 3-meals-a-day kinda gal, and I just could not continually eat throughout the day (I may weigh as much as a cow, but I am not a grazer).  Depending on your body type, you might have an easier time maintaining the regimen.

When I was on the program, which was over 5 years ago, I can only remember that I couldn't add any kind of fat, salt, or sugar to my food.  My favorite meal was grilled fish, steamed broccoli and a baked potato (for lunch and/or dinner) - all plain (Ruby Tuesday's was very accommodating in preparing their fish dish without the butter, etc).  For breakfast, I remember having scrambled eggs and oatmeal (my cholestrol went down significantly).  That's about all I remember, in addition to the feeling of being an abject failure.

Too bad you've already bought the program; you could've had mine for free!  If you have one of those old-timey VCRs, want any Richard Simmons "Dancing to the Oldies" VHS tapes?  hahaha  Good luck.

The 6WBMO is great! I lost 22lbs. I feel like I know the secret now to losing weight.

IT REALLY WORKS. I've counted calories, done WW, and this was the only thing to work for me.

Sodium is my problem. I can cheat and have fat and sugar, as soon as I have any sodium, I put on weight.

So since the summer I've been able to keep off the weight. I need to get back to it, I'd like to lose some more - 10 - 20lbs. But I'm okay with my look now. Size 10 jeans!

It isn't an infomercial scam, it really works. If desperate to lose weight, this is well worth your money.

oh I think it's baloney!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANY diet with the same restricted calories would have you losing.  In other words, it's the caloric restriction, not the "special individualized plan" that makes you lose the weight.

I tried it and got bored.  You cant ever have anything with salt, or any condiment at all really.  I was eating the same thing every day-6 meals.  Oatmeal in the morning, handful of veggies for another snack, 1/2 cup chicken cupes for lunch over 1 cup of lettuce and 1/2 cup various veggies, another handful of berries, and cut up chicken cubes for dinner.  It was very boring.  I guess you can make other things, but if you live a fast paced life it's pretty difficult.  I mean, if everyone stopped eating salt all together, you would probably lose 10 pounds right away.....but, if you stop doing the 6WBM and start eating foods with salt or carbs or anything you will gain the weight back.  I dunno...i would rather learn to eat healthy and right, than restrict myself from things that I like (that are also healthy but dont fall into the 6wbm catagory).

I don't know - I think if you are really over weight and have tried anything, and you find something that works - why not do it?

I was 177, 5"1" too big for my frame. Now I'm 154". Healthier. I already said that I don't follow it to a tee now. But I stay away from sodium. That is what I found that makes me fat.

I was so close to going to Dr. Bernstien diet. Now -how unhealthy is that? Not to metion the expense. I was just desperate to lose.

6WBMO just says - while you are trying to lose weight, take out salt, sugar and fat. Eat 6 times a day, rice, oatmeal, protien, fruit and veg to get your motabolism going. Lose weight. Then, for maintence - you figuer out what works for you... Like I eat what I want on the weekend, and to maintain my weight loss, I follow the plan during the week.

I'd rather do that than carry around 2 dogs fighting on my butt!

I'm so much happier.

I still recommend 6wbmo.
I tried this diet a few years ago & was completely miserable! Of course you will lose weight - but the majority will be water weight if you are completely cutting out sodium.

Out of all the diets I have ever tried, I was the most unhappy with this one. It completely took the joy out of eating a meal, when I knew it was just going to taste like card board. I was pretty strict about following the diet, lost some weight & gained it back.

The bottom line is I felt deprived on this diet  & following it for the rest of my life was not an option. I would never recommend it to anyone unless they think they can follow extremely strict eating habits forever...I mean c'mon, no condiments, brown rice, & plain chicken all the time. Losing weight shouldn't be 100% miserable.

I recommend this program as well.  With it I have learned to stay away from foods that metabolize slowly as well as portion control.  It is restrictive but anyone who looks at the whole plan will see that after the losing phase of the plan it gives tips for maintaining weight loss with an eating plan that is less restrictive and more flexible

Does anyone know if you can just purchase "Type A" food cards from somewhere?  I really would like to try this program, but $ is kinda tight right now to buy the whole program.

Thanks so much!!

They types of food you would eat depends on your specific metabolism - you'd want to know for usre that you are actually a type A.

Hi,

I took the test online and it said I was Type A... fits me to a "T" too! Surprised  So, that's why I know I need those cards. :)

I'm currently on this program and I really have faith in it. I am a type "A", and my metabolism is so slow that nothing was working.  I got on this diet and it really boosted my metabolism.

There are a few downsides to the diet- it is VERY restrictive. No salt, no added fat, no dairy. However, the place does have a website with a "recipe exchange" message board. It's been awesome so far. Some of the recipes are ridiculous- but they really help. especially if you are really into condiments- they have recipes for ketchup & italian dressing.

Not adding salt wasn't really an issue for me, I don't add salt to most things I eat- But it certainly completely eliminates a ton of options. Lots of things have added salt to them. However I think this makes the diet really healthy- because you can't eat added salt, it cuts out just about every processed food and forces you to eat fresh, whole foods.

I allow myself to cheat just a tad. The grilled chicken I ate yesterday had some olive oil on it, for example. i also put a table spoon of olive oil on my greens.

I don't think this is a diet you can stay on the rest of your life. It is definetly take it one day at a time type of diet. But i have faith that it will work well, and work fast. Once I get to a certain point (maybe after i lose 40 pounds or so) I'd like to then keep the same principles of this diet (5-6 small meals throughout the day to keep my metabolism up) but eat more normal versions of these foods. I think as long as the options are healthy and calorie restrictive to a degree, then you're still gonna lose weight.

I also really love that this comes with a workout plan and explains everything. It's hard but I personally like it. I think you'll lose weight fast & you can tweek it if you need. The closer you stick to the diet, the faster you'll lose weight, but it's up to you.
