A size 0 friend ........
I have a size 0 friend (F 5'8") who gained 15 lbs on a trip to Europe.
She said it took her a whole year of healthy eating and working out at the gym 5 x per week to lose the 15 lbs.
Whether or not she is too thin is debatable. I was trying to point out how long it took her.
I have also found that it is helpful to me to be together with her because of her healthy eating habits. I (sometimes) automatically follow her good example!
Oh dear- that's discouraging! lol- I'm a size 0-2 and working on losing 10pds that I've put on. And I'm heading to Europe in less than 2 weeks!
I'm taking my calculator with me! The good thing is we plan on doing lots of walking, so I'm hoping the damage won't be too bad!
I don't mean to offend either of you or your friend, but in my opinion a Size 0 really isn't that great. Size 0 people like Victoria Beckham, Teri Hatcher, Nicole Kidman etc look so unhealthy it's scary. All of these women looked so much more attractive before they got boney.
No adult female should have the body of the average 11 year old; or strive to have it.
If you are grown women please try to want the body of a healthy grown woman with a few curves of interest. Be slender not skinny.
And the time of weightloss depends on how much you have to lose. The more you have to lose, the quicker you lose it. If you have no weight to lose but still try, yeah it's going to take a long time. Your body is fighting to keep those pounds.
thanks for the tips alibuch. I don't drink and potatoes don't really tempt me- my dad is a potato farmer (he lives next door and stores all of his potatoes in my cellar!). The pasta will tempt me but I'm not crazy about creamy sauces which next to portion size is the worst thing about pasta dishes.
It's taken me 3 months to lose 5pds. Then again, I've had lots of cheat days!
little_jaymo, no offense taken! Unfortunately, when I have extra weight on, the only curves of interest I have are my stomach and thighs that rub! lol- my husband loves me through thick or thin so to speak, but those curves don't interest me in the least!
gpm55, the reason is is taking her so long to lose weight is that she is already a size 0. Losing any additional weight is unhealthy. And it's not debatable whether she is too thin as size 0 at 5'8" is too thin, period. Even top models are considered better for the clothes by the fashion designers at a size 2 than a 0. And even those girls are super thin.
Queenmedia, at size 0 why are you trying to lose 10 lbs??? Size 0-2 sounds perfect, I am sure you look fab. 10 lbs less would be less than size 0. Not healthy or attractive.
My friend is a size 0.
I'm an 18 now at 236 lbs (5'10" F, goal weight 170, started at 284 four months ago)
I agree runjenn- I can wear a size 0-2 now because clothing sizing has changed. I consider myself a true size 8. I have clothes that I've kept from the 90's that are that size. Have you ever seen Bongo brand pants? I would wear a size 6 in that brand because they run so small.
Right now the only size 0's I have that fit (the rest are too small) are skirts, which have a pretty forgiving fit. All of my jeans are size 2 (American Eagle) and some fit alright, some are still uncomfortably snug.
Hey, wtg on the weight loss gpm55!
it's took her a whole year and she had to exercise 5 times a day to lose 15 pounds! this is so upsetting and discouraging since i've gained nearly 15 pounds.
OMG, Queenmedia!!! My Bongo's were MY LIFE!! I felt soooo incredibly hot in them; I think mine were a 5-6? I now wear a 0-2. Totally makes sense.
Thanks for the reminder of those great days!!!![]()
Queenmedia-I consider myself a true 1980s size 6! In fact, I just bought a dress that is a UK 10 from the 70s, which equals US size 6 of the 70s. So you're probably right on if you believe yourself to be a true 8.
I can remember when size 6 was as small as it got, unless you went to juniors. I just wonder what's next: 'excuse me, do you have this in a -2?' LOL!!
runjenn, I remember when the sizes were just starting to change, I went in to a store and was swimming in an 8. And 6. My brain and eyes were bugging out when I put on the 4's and they fit! I just kept thinking how amazing it was that I was 4 sizes smaller without having lost a speck of weight! lol
So ... -2 is already here, from what I understand ...

Edit: Heh ... mid-90s ... who am I kidding? That should be early 90s ...

it's true, sizes varies from the brand of clothing, a size 0 in Express or American Eagle could be a size 2/4.

I think I'm going to have to disagree. At 5'8.5", I weighed 125 - 130 lbs (a healthy weight) and wore a size 6 jeans from Express. Now, at 160 - 165, I wear a size 10, and it's a little tight. My goal is to be back to around 140 - 145, which puts my BMI at around 22, which is what is consider perfect. The ONLY jeans I wear are Express jeans, because of the way that they fit.
A friend of mine is a size 6 in jeans, she is 5'7" and fluctuates between 110 - 120 lbs and her doctor actually wants her to GAIN weight.
I could not imagine either of us fitting into a 0 or a 2 jeans, purchased from anywhere. Given that, my DRESS size is definitely smaller than my pants size, but still not enough to drop 6 sizes.
That heifer is lying!
I find that pretty hard to believe. If she was *really* trying to lose those 15 lbs; I dont that it took her a year. If she was working out 5X a week like she claims then she may have also gained muscle.
Don't worry about your friend -just focus on yourself and be consistent in reaching your goals! :) You can do it. I can guarantee it won't take you a year to lose 15 pounds if you are doing the right things

SAME! I go on trips with my best friend at least three times a year, and she's ridiculously skinny--considered underweight. Her whole family is, too, and when I'm with them I automatically adjust to just not be hungry as much. Then when I get back home, everyone around me seems like they're eating like pigs! But eventually, the charm wears off....*sigh*

Wow, have some respect.

That's me. Those are size 0 jeans I'm wearing. I'd love for you to tell me which part of my body looks like an 11 year old or where I lack curves. I have a small frame and a BMI of 20. I'm 5'5''.
Please remember that vanity sizing + smaller frames = healthy, curvy women often fitting size 0s. Thank you!
like tristesse above i too am a size zero. (cute photo :) i have almost a perfect hourglass shape and a nice perky butt (after lots of toning and working out) :) pays off!
i am in recovery but even if i gain those last pounds i will still be a zero-sometimes even a 00 depending on the clothes. i have a very small frame and this weight/size is ok since im 5'2"
someone tall who is a size zero might look differently in a 0-or not? some people work at that size/weight, and others its more natural. if it took this friend a year to lose 15 lbs thats a bit slow-maybe she didnt eat enough to fuel the workouts? or, maybe she did and her body likes going slow. that is a very healthy rate of loss 9if slow on some counts) and she should be confident she will keep it off. anything higher then 1-2 lbs a week might be muscle-and we girlies love to be toned! :)
so anyone who is looking to lose like 10-15 lbs, it doesnt have to take a year. 2-3 months should do it with healthy eating and some exercise to compliment it.
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
