do you think the size of your friends influences your weight?
does having fatter friends make you feel more OK about being fat? does having skinny friends make you feel fat even when you're not?
i managed to pack on 10 pounds in a year while thinking i was losing weight. why? my friends in grad school are chubby; my friends in undergrad were skinny and fit.
what about you guys? has the weight of the people you hang around with affected your weight, or your perceptions of your weight?
Its interesting because I've been friends with my two best friends for almost 10 years, and origionally there were two of us that were the "cute, skinny ones" (me and J) and the other was the "cute, cubby one" (A). Now A has lost a lot of weight by diet and exercise over the last two years, while I have put on over 60 pounds since we started hanging out 10 years ago. So now I'M the "cute, chubby one" and its definately a different experience. Luckily I'm engaged to a wonderful man so I don't really care that I don't get as much attention when we go out, but if I was single I would definately be upset and disturbed at seeing A and J getting all the attention from guys, and me just kind of being there for their wingman to chat up.
And it doesn't help that J is one of "those girls" that can eat whatever she wants and not blow up like a balloon. So a lot of our get togethers are going out at night or going out to dinner (they came over for pizza last night).
Definitely. Most of my friends are guys with amazing metabolisms. These boys can eat anything, drink anything and keep the pounds off. I, of course, would eat anything, drink anything along with them, but it turns out my metabolism is not as good. Looking at them now hurts because I need to work to look half as good as they do. Makes me sick.
Why can athletes eat so much?
Athletes need adequate calories to offset those they burn in training and competition. They eat to either maintain their body mass or gain muscle... Read more
