Ok I am an 18-year-old female, 5'1, size 0-2, and 130 pounds. I feel like I weigh too much. I am an athlete; I play softball 24/7. Everyday I work out ATLEAST 2 hours a day. On the weekend I can work out up to 5-8 hours each day. I also eat very healthy, not because I make myself I just enjoy healthier foods. Anyways I just wanted some advice/tips. Such as what my calorie intake should be, how much should I weigh? I know the majority of my weight is muscle. I’m just very curious and frustrated as to why I weigh so much. Please help me out. Give me some ideas and pointers. PLEASE :) Thank you, leanne
CC's tools, firstly, aren't accurate for under 21's. CC's tools are inaccurate for under 21's and you should use this calculator instead: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html as you are still growing. Yes, even in the later years - there's more going on inside of you that you simply can't see.
A very active girl of 18, 148lbs and 5'4 needs, according to that calculator for under 21's, 2800 calories a day to maintain. And you are certainly no less than very active!
As for your weight, your weight is in the higher end of the healthy range BMI. HOWEVER, given you work out a lot and are an 0-2 that a large part of your weight will be healthy, metabolism speeding muscle. Furthermore, if your frame is medium to large, you'd be poorly built with much less on you. BMI is largely inaccurate on the higher end for atheletes such as yourself and so from my standpoint, you're perfectly fine where you are and I suggest maintaining.
Breakdowns of 2800:
B 650
S 300
L 650
S 300
D 600
S 300
B 700
S 250
L 700
S 250
D 700
S 250
And so on. If you would like some food help to reach this calorie goal please ask. Beyond that I hope this helps you!
I don't know which one is you, but it doesn't look like either girl in the picture needs to lose an ounce! I agree with Lala. ![]()
If the majority of your weight is muscle then....why do you care? I'm confused.
Well, she said she was curious. Better to ask than do what half the stupider teens/under 21's here do and starve herself instead.
I don't understand why i weigh so much when i am so healthy. I weighed 120 about 3 months ago. I'm confused as to why it has changed. i also wanted to know how many calories i should have a day.
Well, I answered your calorie intake question in my first post.
i know thanks i was just clarifying because that girl didn't understand. :)

I almost wonder if the scale you are looking at is incorrect... have you tried more than one scale? I know everyone is built differently, and you are undoubtedly more muscular than I. But I have a small frame and I'm 5'1 as well, and when I weighed 130, I could not fit in size 6 jeans. I definitely couldn't get a size 2 past my lower thighs.
I'm with shinyblackpit. I have just about identical stats and I fit into Aussie 10 - 12 which equates roughly to American size 8 - 10.
Gee, what brand of clothes do you buy??? I weigh 129/130 and wear a sz 8!
There is of course the possibility that you do NOT in fact weigh that amount; taking into account the differences of many scales, water weight depending on what you've eaten and drunk prior to being weighed, etc.
But seriously..it's awesome you actually RECOGNISE that you are in fact healthy. The number on the scale is just that - a number. Judging by your pictures you look beautiful and athletic. =)
Stupid confusing things of the universe.
I agree - I think you look beautiful. Forget the scales - a number is a number, what matters is that you are healthy and happy and it sounds like you're certainly leading a very healthful lifestyle :) xxxx
I'm also wondering where you're buying size 0-2 being 5'1 and 130 lbs? I'm 5'2 and 135 lbs. and wearing a 6, but can't even button a 4 up... and I'm really active and pretty muscular soo i'm sort of confused about you weighing 130. I think if you're wearing a 0-2 you've got to be closer to 120...
@ toastyocie - she might just have a small body frame. Plus, in some clothes, I can fit into a 3-4 and in others, I fit into a 6-8 or 8-10.
@ lanner - you do not weight to much! You are probably mostly muscle since you play softball! When i did gymnastics, I was 5'1" and around 95lbs and it was almost all muscle (and I was called "big" in gymnastics) Now I'm around the same weight as you and I think you are just fine the way you are. Just eat healthy, keep your activity level up, and you will be fine. :)
hummm if you weigh 130 you dont wear a size 0-2. Thats just crazy. When I weighted 107 I was in a size 0-1. Im 5 2 and I now weight a 125. I am solid size 5. I dont think you weight that much. Dont worry about your weight, its pointless if, your, say 20% body fat which would be great. you could be 5 foot and weight 150 but, if your bf is only 22% it would be fine. Howerver if you were 5 foot and 33% bf you would fat. Just check your BMI. And I totally agree with lala. But for real your not a size 0-2. Even with a small body frame 130 is still not that size.
ummm ufrancis she easily could be, I'm 4'11" 125 and a 0-2 (leaning towards a 2 now but still fit into 0's)
Everyone's shaped differently. Give her a break
I know you're not going to want to hear this, but you really don't look like you need to loose much of anything! I'm sure you could go down 5-10lbs and still looks healthy, but I can't be sure. But hey, you're a size 0!!! Call me crazy, but that does not sound like you need too loose much.
btw you're super pretty!! And you don't look overweight at all!! :) haha I'm kinda jealous ^^
I think clothing sizes are irrelevant because you can be a 6 in one store and a 10 in another.
Also, Marekat: to lose weight makes for loose trousers. You're using one too many o's!
Is it just me or did she not say she was 5'1" not 5'4"
Okay so I'm sure many people made this point, but muscle weighs more than fat, if it was all fat instead of muscle on your body, you would probably weigh like 115 and look bigger, so muscle is good, don't worry about it
and yea both girls in the picture look great, so whichever one you are you're in good shape.....
