Why is size 9 a large at hollister co?
I just can't believe that. I am a size 11 and they carry that size but i want to be size 7, but a size nine is large???
DO NOT judge your size by Hollister clothes. That store sizes everything WAY to small. I avoid stores like that. My cousin and I were there last weekend and every single t-shirt they had left on the clearance rack was a size small or extra small, the odd medium. Shouldn't that tell the hollister people something? maybe that if their large and extra large sells out fast they should make their clothes normal sizes....
Because their clothes are geared toward teenagers and college students.
seriously. I agree with what the previous posters have said. and don't trust american eagle either--it's exactly the opposite! everywhere else I wear a small in shirts, but there I had to look for an XXS. their SKIRT sizes also led me to believe I'd gone down a size. very, very misleading. the only brand I trust is levi's ;D
That's Crazy I think That gives girls my age a distorted body image...
I honestly think that a size 9 Is a smaller to medium size not large!

Honestly I know it is ridiculous!!
Hi girls,
You all sound young, but I needed to say something about Hollisters...
My daughter was over weight in high school and going into that store gave her major anxiety! I just hated that. Now that she is smaller and could fit into their sizes, she refuses to shop there.

Yeah, it's the same at Abercrombie (who owns Hollister).
hollister is depressing to me. all their sizes are alot smaller than anywhere else i shop! DEPRESSING!!!! I wear a size 7 everywhere but there!!!! go figure. dont worry about it!!
Look, everywhere you go is going to have different sizing. At Old Navy, for example, some shirts I can wear medium, some I'm better off with large, some pants I can fit 8's, some I have to go up to 10's...and this is within one store, one brand.
I can't believe anyone could get so caught up in the number printed on their tags that they would refuse to shop somewhere. Who cares what size it is as long as it looks nice and fits well? Judge your progress by how you look and feel and not which clothing stores' sizing is to your liking.

I agree Hollister is ridiculous - it's like they only want tiny people to be able to wear their clothes.
The kind of sad thing was that the last time I was there (I can't fit into anything in the store but my husband loves their jeans) all the people working there wearing their clothes looked like stuffed sausages wearing things obviously too small for them with rolls poking out everywhere. I don't understand why they would turn away the business of *completely normal* sized kids who wear *gasp* a 10 or a 12.
I know kids can just ignore the store and shop somewhere else but around here it's become THE store so I'm sure that girls feel bad when they can't fit into anything there...

i totally agree about the whole size thing about hollister....i mean the only things i fit into are their fleece. and they say on their website that the pants and shorts sizes go up to an 11 (which is what im at) but most of their shorts and pants only go up to a 9 from what i see.
They only size small because their demographic roughly starts at 12. Girls are generally small at that age so their extra small fits an average 12 year old and then it goes up from there. They only do it so their younger shoppers will fit into their clothes.
You just have to realize that when you shop there, don't think about the size but the fit.

for some reason im a size 0 in hollister & A&F and a 2 everywhere else .. are you all saying you wear a larger size at hollister than at other stores???
lets be blunt.... why do you care. its a number, get over it and get whatever that fits. your pretty much throwing a hissy fit because the number hurts your feelings that you should be a different number?
in conclusion, wear soemthing that fits regardless with a number. The're only a guide to "fit" you. Not perfect by any means.
If you want a real test, try your BF%. Whats that number?

ahh i know, those stores' sizes are so messed up. i think that you have to try them on. dont mind the size, bc they are so random and sometimes they fit and sometimes they dont.. ive never really had problems with the size of the jeans, but the LENGTH!
ahhh! hollister is stupid :P i tried on a 'short' jean and it was like 5 inches past my ankles. and thats the 'short' just think of the regular! ahh! discrimination to short people here lol.

I try everything on because I don't trust sizes at all. On one day I bought a size 14 at one store, then went across the mall and bought size 6 capri pants. I own everything from an xxs to an xl. *shrug* I don't think the numbers actually mean much, maybe they do for men's pants, they can seem to pick out pants just looking at the label. I think I might actually wear size 9 jeans, that seems to be the mean.
I wish American clothing sizes were measured in centimeters or even inches so there was more of a consistent standard. I think some or most of Europe does this...? Shopping by waist circumference for pants and bust circumference for shirts seems like it would be SO much less frustrating than doing the whole "lets see if my hips fit into these pants" routine.
well if it makes you feel any better 9 is barely a large.
9 - 29/39
m - 26.5/36.5 - 28/38
l - 28.5/38.5 - 30/40
size chart from there
i think their measuremnts seem close to other stores.
if it fits your wierd and squishy you may just need misses or womens stuff instead.
they are junior cuts and that wont work on people with hips that well. plus they cut everything to fit tightly. if thats not what you want you have to go up 1-2 sizes.

size 9 is kinda big for the highschool college age *shrug* most stores like that and the one i work in sell out of size 1-5 the quickest.
i was the assistant manager at aeropostale for 3 years in college and tons of high school and college kids were not buying sizes 0-6. mostly those were the 10-13 year olds who bought clothes in adult clothing stores. there was a huge uproar in our store when the company stopped selling sizes 11/12 and 13/14 in pants. also, like hollister, the majority of our clothing on the clearance rack was xs, small, and get this we even had xxs! aero's clothing for the most part fit decently and the sizes that sold out the most were the average sizes- 7/8 and 9/10. i also worked at weathervane for 2 years prior to aero and can attest to the fact that those were our most popular sizes as well.
