hollister is messed up. Im a size 5 normally, and at hollister im like a 9.

that is riduculous.

That store is way too expensive. Everyone wears hollister and Abercrombie. It's annoying. I shop at Pacsun. Their sizes are super  accurate, but clothes is just as stylish. It's less common to see someone wear a pacsun outfit for some reason.

As for sizes, teenage bodies are different from adult. That's why they don't fit right. When I tried on their jeans, size 7 did not fit at all. I tried going a few sizes up. While it fit, it just looked ugly. It's not made for adult bodies, no matter your size. Now PacSun skinny jeans in size 7 look awesome.

I refuse to go into Hollister. I feel like I'm trapped in Jumanji and that I have to wait for Robin Williams to roll the dice.

LOL that is hilarious and so true! Their music makes my head hurt, I can't see anything, and sneeze nonstop.

I'm 16, and I fit (barely) into their size 11's. Normally, I wear size 9's in any other store, like Charlotte Russe for example.

I'm 173lbs and 5'8'', while one of my friends is 5'9" and 135, she barely fits into size 9's.

I'm a little concerned as to how thin you actually neeed to be to even feel like you fit in, and feel good about it too. Like in these replies, seeing that size 3's are like 7's at Hollister.

Bah. I love their stuff no matter what though.

I have a 14 year old step son that loves Hollister...I think it's easier for guys to wear Hollister than it is girls....but he slimmed up this past summer otherwise wouldn't be wearing their clothes.

Now I have a 9 year old daughter that won't step foot in there, AE or Limited Too....her words are they are only for skinny people, she is a stockier build and the way they make thier clothes to fit basically "stick people" you can't really have any curves and feel comfortable with their CLINGINESS that they have going on.

I think it really does alot to the self image of young girls, mine included....most girls are not stick thin, why can't they make clothes to fit the "normal" girl?

I wear 00 or 0's and I'm not underweight even...Hollister's clothes are almost too big, lol.

Their sizes tell you something, "If you're not even reasonably able to fit the LARGEST size in the store; you need to lose some weight." Honestly, you probobly do, because what you may think of as normal or "average" is probobly actually overweight, considering 75% percent of Americans are.

I almost feel like I need to make a thread about this.  I am SO sick of the "how-much-do-you weigh-what-size-are-you" posts.

Tell me if I need to lose weight, okay?  I'm 5'-8", 128lb, small boned, and VERY curvy.  My two favorite pairs of jeans are a SIZE THIRTEEN.  I don't own a single pair of junior's jeans under a 9, and even in misses size, I'm a 6 or an 8.  I'm a classic hourglass, with a 25.5" waist and 37" hips.

Do I need to lose weight?  Am I fat?

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you (seriously, I'm not, nor am I trying to attack you xP), but lemme tell you: SIZING DOES NOT MATTER.  It's just a label.

I think their clothes are geared to people that do not have curves.....in my opinion who does not want to have curves????

All clothes are made didfferent but society looks at sizes so dramitcally I mean a plus size model is like a 10? What's up with that, it's insane, it should all be focused on eating right and exercising- the way life should be.

Hollisters demographic is 14-18.

But its not just hollister's sizing that would consider someone who wears a size 9 a larger. Although everyone knows hollister makes **** clothing, when you look at higher end labels, few make XL and an XXL would be unheard of. And yet their sizing guilds, at least Kensie, follows roughly the same sizing as Hollister. Would it make you feel smaller if they invented a triple zero so that you could wear a 7 instead?

I work at Hollister and I am a size nine. Of course in sweatpants or something a large would be the correct size. You can't label size nine a small when a size two is considered small. That's just the size on the label. What else should it say? It goes from extra-small to small to medium to large. They all have their partnered number size. They aren't going to call it extra small, small, a little bigger than small, and even yet bigger than small. Yes Hollister clothing is tight, but that is the look. Teenagers are growing into their bodies and like to wear tight clothing. That is the group they are trying to sell their clothing to. Adults who wish to wear their clothing can go to Abercrombie, its the exact same but for adults. Also, Hollister does not want girls to not be curvy. I have curves. I'm short and I have a very hourglass shape and Hollister hired me an hour after my interview. I get many hours and I find tons of clothes there that fit me. For those of you who have problems finding sizes in the clearance because it's all xs and s, just ask someone if they have another size. Usually we have more sizes in the back, it doesn't hurt to ask. Hollister just puts things on clearance so quickly that they have so much and can't put the larger sizes out on the floor due to overflow. They want to show off the smaller sizes of course because, as in modeling, smaller sizes are more "appealing". That's how any store is. So before you all bash a store, know your facts.

While I'm not against a store selling to a smaller clientel (and by some of the posts such stores are obviously needed) i do wish the people who shopped at such stores realized that bigger sizes don't necessarily make a person "fat". In high school I had a bunch of short really thin Asian friends who all liked to shop at such stores and I felt so out of place because at 5' 10" and 160 ish pounds i simply could not fit into any of their clothes even though I wasn't fat. Further, in one store while looking for a size 13 jean another customer pulled out a pair of jeans and said to her boyfriend "13! what elephant wears that!" I can't tell you how much that hurts a 15 year-old's self-image and I never shopped at that store again, not because I didn't like the clothing, simply because I didn't like their clientel. I think it would be good if such stores had a few more larger sizes so that groups of friends of different sizes could still shop together and the small, and the large(r, usually meaning taller and curvier) people wouldn't be left out.

I'm so glad that there are stores like H&M and Charlottee Russe  that cater to a huge range of fashions and sizes.   I dunno what I'd do without them seeing as last time I posted here I was 146, now 140 and I'm STILL wearing size 11 pants right now.  I'd never find these at Hollister.  (Well, I don't think I'd find pinstripes there either lol!)

Hollister is RIDICULOUS.  A friend of mine worked there for a while and was told to never come to work with no makeup-- yadayada-- because "you are not selling clothes, you are selling a lifestyle."  "You must look your hottest at all times."

lmfao-- I've got some like 29 year old "friends" (more like BF's friends) who will ONLY wear a Hollister t-shirt!!!

REALLY ROFL ABOUT TO PEE MY PANTS!!Laughing

So, there's only one number-size to each word-size?  That just seems odd to me; why bother having "medium" if it just means "7"?  I'm used to stores where size 2-4 is extrasmall, 6-8 is small, 10-12 is medium, 14-16 is large, etc.  (Canadian stores aren't really into the 0s yet, but a system that was 00-0 = extrasmall, 2-4 = small, 6-8 = medium, etc. would work too.  It might need to go up to XXL instead of XL, but it would work.)

I'm not criticizing the store.  Every store has the right to market to the clientele they want - and if they think it makes more business sense to exclude larger people (appealing to the vanity of "I'm small enough to shop here" I guess?), that's their call.  There are lots of great stores that carry nice clothes in a variety of sizes.

@ oddfunk - I'm pretty sure that in south moon under I saw a hiring sign with MEASUREMENTS

Ok here's the thing that no one wants to realize. This bullsh*t about not fitting into HCO clothes is lame. If you stay fit and active then you'll fit. I'm 23, 5'10'' and 150lbs and still fit into a small there. And I'm pretty musclure. But that's because I work out.

For everyone bi*ching about wanting them to have sizes for everyone it's very simple. Their clothing line appeals to younger people and those who take care of themselves. It's the same for A&F, Gilly, Reul, ect. If you eat whatever you want and don't work out then how to you expect to fit into whatever you want.

Also, that's why people mostly shop there. It extolls the individuals body. That's why its a hot store. Precisely because the people who work/shop there do keep care of themselves.

I know this is hard for people to understand/accept but its the truth. If you don't like the clothes don't shop there. If you have other problems with them then again, leave them alone. But if you're bi*ching because you think they should change their store and company so that they can accomodate you...well then you probably are spoiled and think everyone needs to cater to you. Try working on yourself and you'll have no one to blame but you.

dont take this the wrong way but i think u ppl r insane saying that hollister runs small. hollister and abercrombie are meant to fit a normal sized person. im sorry if your child is overweight but u shouldnt take that out on the store. im 100 pounds and i am 5 ft 6 inches. i am very happy to fit in all clothes as a size 00. u should just shop at a plus-sized store.
