Do Skechers Shape Ups work?
Asked by tbachi9 on Aug 17, 2009 in Fitness

I keep seeing advertisments for Skechers Shape Ups. Do you think they work or are they just another fad? I use regular walking shoes and try to walk about 2 miles twice a week. Could these shoes give my walking a boost, or should I just save my $100? PS I love reading this section of calorie count. It is very helpful.

Answer

Skechers Shape Ups are essentially a Skechers trainer with a ‘dynamic rolling bottom’ and a soft insole and midsole cushioned to reduce the impact of walking on your feet and joints.  Because the heel is lower than normal shoes and the bottom of the shoe is curved, your muscles are constantly working to keep you balanced and centered.  As a result, they are said to strengthen the legs, butt, back and abdomin as you walk, as well as improve posture and promote weight loss.  The benefits of Shape Ups were confirmed by an independent study commissioned  by Skechers.  I cannot say if Shape Ups are better than other walking shoes.
