So how would you log skiing as an activity? Time wise? Just the downhill time or the total time? I see the "Skiing Downhill Moderate Effort" selection in the exercise area - but no explaination or details.

 Any ideas?

Just estimate the total amount of time you spent actually skiing -- the rest of the time you're pretty much just sitting on your butt.  In order to determine your effort level, rank your exertion on a scale of 1-10 -- 1 being you reach the bottom of the hill hardly breathless, and 10 being you have to stop halfway to unbutton your jacket red-faced & gasping for air.  Low is 1-4, Moderate is 4-7, and High is 8-10.

Sitting on your butt being lift time as well as other breaks?

Thanks, George

I'm not sure if its right, but I've been dividing my total time on the hill by 3 and using that number.  I have a bit of a different take on the exertion level as it’s not that often I get winded.  So I use the quad burn test.  If my quads are burning all day, it’s vigorous.  I work down from there.  If the amount of calories burned seems too high, I’ll usually lower the time.

I have 16 days on snow so far this season.  We are having the best start to the season I can remember – ever.  Being from the east, we always need man-made snow to open some of the expert terrain and usually can’t ski the woods until late Jan or Feb.  Almost everything is open, including the woods and its mid Dec!

Have a great season.
