going skiing (how to eat??)

Quote  |  Reply

Ah, February vacation. How I love/hate you. Just as you've dropped all the Christmas weight, it's time to go on a trip where you have absolutely no calorie control (or willpower). I'm talking about a ski trip, complete with a fab hotel and *gulp* restaurant meals, 3 times a day.

I know I'll be burning like 1500 calories a day while skiing, but come on. From pancakes in the morning to pasta and dessert at night, there's a potential for some weight gain on this vacation.

Sorry for the rambling post! But does anyone have advice on how to eat on vacation to fuel a bag ass workout every day and yet not go too overboard and gain weight?

Thanks!

Usually they have instant oatmeal in the ski-lodges.

Whenever I ski I have one of those oatmeals and a yogurt for my breakfast and/or lunch.  They keep you satisfied and are great for warming up!

All I can suggest is to try to order the healthiest thing you can at restaurants, and then eat all of it (or until you're full). Don't let yourself get too hungry! That way you can get some fruit to keep in your room for snacks, and you won't have to snack on any of the typical "snacks" available at ski lodges. Oh, and have fun skiing!
Thanks guys! Yeah, I was basically wondering how to balance getting enough calories and not getting dehydrated without gaining weight. Great advice!
