Seven and a half months after birth I still have stretch marks and saggy skin on my stomach (only sags when I bend at the waist and not while standing upright) as well as on my thighs. I tried Bio Oil without improvement...Or prevention of stretchmarks in the first place (stupid products never do what they promise to)...so yeah, I know stretchmarks are mostly a genetic thing so severity is different for different people and they may never fully go away...well I'd be happy just to not have my stomach look like a raisin when I bend over. As such I'm a patient person, so I'd like to be able to take care of this myself even if it takes a few more months for them to diminish, so what remedies BESIDES THE NORMAL ONES, like bio oil, shea butter, etc have worked for you? Has anyone tried mederma? I've heard it is just vaseline with onion extract and that you get the same results with vaseline...I have not tried either so if anyone has used it with results...and can SHOW the results...please do. I'm also curious to know if anyone has had laser treatment or something alike and how were the results, did you think it was worth it? Thanks a lot!

Try eight years after the little munchkin.  Girl, I've still got my unsightly "fat bag" as I so lovingly refer to it as.  The thinner I get, the worse it looks.  Anywho, I've got about 18 pounds to go before I go see the surgeon to have it removed.  I don't have to endure a technical abdominoplasty, but I am going to have the saggy portion removed and then we'll see about the laser treatments.  According to my doctor, though, the stretch marks may be damn near invisible after my procedure is over and done with.  And yes, I too fell for the marketing scams of bio-oil, shea butter and mederma.  Mederma did help to reduce the appearance of a surgical scar I had on my ankle, but didn't do jack to the stretch marks.  Best thing I can tell you is to get in shape, rebuild your core and if it still isn't any better, find an awesome doctor.

Honestly, there's not much you can do about the stretchmarks. They're permanent, but you can reduce the appearance of them. Nothing ever makes them really go away, though, aside from drastic surgery of any type.

This is why I'm kinda grateful that I have a load of stretchmarks just from being fat already. And I mean loads. I have them all over my stomach, probably some on my butt, some on my legs, some on my arms, and some on my chest. I'm pretty sure I have them on my shoulders, too. The good news is, the majority of the ones I have are faded to white, and I've even gotten a few more (like, five really small ones) over the course of this pregnancy, and I'm waiting to see if more spring up.

I know that, once I go to lose all of my weight and get down to my goal weight, I will never have a "flat" stomach. Not unless I have a team of surgeons go in and remove all of the extra skin I'm going to have from all over.

Honest? I've never had a baby, but I have been 175 pounds more than I am today. If you were preggers for 9 months, had your baby, and still  have some looseness, that's normal. But I wouldn't go under the knife for at least 2 years. Lots of water, and patience, the skin does recover a decent amount in 2 years time. (I've been maintaining my weight for almost 2 years, and my skin has recovered nearly half way. Tummy tuck is in store for ME, but we're talkin 175lbs off this body)

Good news for me: I've been using olive oil obsessively and it's really-REALLY working to make my skin look better...now, I've also been working out twice as hard..every day now instead of every other and for twice as long...and well, I can't say things are perfect but, well I think I just may be able to do it without the help of a surgeon! I think to get rid of the stretchmark lines I'll probably see a dermatologist for laser therapy but I've already lost an inch on my waist since I posted this topic a week ago. I only wish I had started sooner!
