Does anyone know if the weight of items includes the skin or unedible portions, such as one cup of orange? Or one large egg? Seems the measured portions would be without skin or shell ,but would the unmeasured such as one orange be. I know this sounds picky but over time this would add up positive or negative to your calories.
Am I splitting hairs? I am new at this so any answers or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know but I seriously wouldn't worry abou it. THere's probably like 3 calories in an eggshell or something :)
I'm pretty sure it doesn't count the unedible parts.
I weigh only the portion I am going to eat. I don't eat eggshells :)
The calories are calculated for the portion you eat. We don't eat orange or banana peels, or watermelon rinds. Unless we are seriously mental that is, or have ape genes?
That helps. I guess I'll have to get my calcium and extra fiber somewhere else besides the shells and rinds. But seriously I have been calculating that extra weight, therefore counting those calories as having been consumed. Thanks for clearing that up.
Eggshells aren't tasty at all, but contain more taste and good stuff than your average McD's.
I do not purposely eat eggshells...... I am just a hopeless cook and by the time I remove all the shell from breaking..... Then I may as well have something else....
Mmmm........ Eggshell cake.

^ eeewww! FUZZY! : )
I know someone else who does that, bigtwinky. I think she's nuts (for a number of reasons!) but she thinks it's totally normal--so you're not alone! Haha!
BigTwinky....
Maybe the calories burned trying to get the darn skin off is more beneficial than eating the fur ball?

hehe, I picked it up when I was in primary (elementary) school many years ago. I had a couple of kiwis in my lunch but didnt have a knife or spoon (i used to cut it in half then eat the inside with a spoon)
A friend of mine said he eats them with the skin, I dared him to, he ate one of mine. I tried it myself, and it wasn't too bad.
So I basically eat them like an apple.
I have a craving for kiwis now hehe

mm...kiwis! and cheesecake! oops... that's not the same at all, is it?!
shaving a kiwi to get rid of the fuzz so I can eat the skin like an apple. This could take some time and the shaving gel is going to leave a terrible taste.....
leave it to you claire, lol
I prefer kiwi with the skin on (I also learned this as a child), and am pretty sure there are extra nutrients and definitely FIBER that is not being measured by calorie-counter because all the options i could find for logging this fruit do not include the nutritional content of the skin.
Any ideas for where to look?
Thanks!
