Skinny Fat?
I think I would fit into this category they call "skinny fat." It is so frustrating!
So heres the deal, I am about 5'4 112lbs 20 years old, Do you think I need to lose weight to start toning up and getting definition?
I eat 12000-15000 calories a day and I do about 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week. I tend to get my fat around my belly.
Any suggestions on diet or exercise would be amazing!
well, first, I think you mean 1200-1500 rather than 12000 to 15000, but I think the main thing would not necessarily be losing weight and doing a lot of cardio, so much as strength training. I would recommend replacing some cardio with resistance/weight training or at least add this in some way. This should help you tone up.
Definitely start some weight training. Cardio will not add muscle to your body overall. It's great to burn the calories, but do rid yourself of the fat and replace with muscle, you should do some weight/strength training.
You don't have to go crazy, but hitting all of your major muscle groups atleast once a week would go a long way in helping your body composition.
Good Luck!
I'm a cardio queen, though :)
I'd say you're already really thin at 112 and 5'4, so get the weight training in, STAT, and all your problems will be fixed. Up the protein, too.
by all means, add in weight training- and if you want to build muscle, seriously review your diet-- you must up your protein especially to see gains.
i don't think most women realize like you have that it's one thing to be skinny and another to be fit-- by adding in 3 days a week of a total body workout that includes diverse weight training moves, you should see your body 'come alive' while creating sexy harder curves than the skin & bone flabby look that many women tend to feel is good; just because they weigh a low weight.
