Skinny Fat girls????

Quote  |  Reply
I was an athlete in high school and so were these 2 friends of mine (they are twins). I joined the army after school and instead of getting into better shape I GAINED 20 lbs! Ive been up and down with my weight ever since...not these friends of mine...they are models and since high school, they have gotten smaller. They go out to clubs 3 times a week and after the club, go to one of two places Krystals for chili cheese fries or this greasy diner called Landmark. Mind you that these post club meals are at 3:30 - 4:00 AM. I know that they work out on a regular but they've also admitted to not working out as much as they used to or not doing very much cardio. They guys we hang out with call them the fat skinny girls because they eat so much but yet are still so small. They are 5'3 like me and have sort of an athletic build like myself (im a little more muscular) they dont have the tall stick thin "model" body type that you may be thinking. Our body types are some what similar...my thing is how do they manage to stay so petite even while partying 3 days a week consuming lots of alcohol and eating fast food? Back in high school i could eat whatever whenever but I know that I wasnt eating as much  junk and that activities kept me slim but now i feel as though i have to be super strict on myself in order to keep myself at a descent size...what gives?

I wouldnt worry too much about them...they are lucky right now, but they are doing damage to their insides....think long term...

You don't know how little they eat when you're not around.  It is quite possible that they only thing they eat is one late night meal....
It'll catch up to them...they are what 21?
Sometimes it's genetics... or Jalciati can be right.. maybe they don't eat at all when you're not around.

I think that sometimes we have to accept the fact that our genetics determine how fast our metabolism runs, and how we store fat and we have to deal with how the dice was rolled for us.

You know you see what they eat when they are out, but you don't see what they eat all of the time.  I used to have a friend like that and she would eat all kinds of crap when we were out and about, but when it came to meals at home she was VERY strict with herself.

Bad as this sounds, I would rather be a skinny fat girl, then a chubby healthy chick! Im dumb I know!
Word ^
Man, after all this healthy eating I better not look like MY parents!!! Thats whats motivated me!

Dont worry, it'll catch up to them. I know what you mean. I know this tiny girl who eats custard doughnuts, easter eggs and chips BETWEEN her fatty meals. She';s jsut started to have it catch up to her, but is stil tiny. And I can tell she will have some health problems later. ANd her metabolism will slow down. i try to help her but she realy doesnt care.

If they are partying maybe they are burning more cals dancing?
it's simple. everyone's bodies are totally different.
Yea I think peoples metabolisms change at different rates.

A few years back I pretty much fit that description....ate WHATEVER I wanted all the time...lot's of pizza, lot's of beer, lot's of liquor, and lot's of cheese fries.....managed to stay at 125lbs without any exercise.

Then it happened...I gained almost 30lbs and now I'm here :)

Well I'm back down to 142 and doing things the right way...I know I can still splurge here and there but not like I used to.
Thank you Scarlet Begonia. Like I said it'll catch up with them. I was the same way. ANd thought that I could still drink and eat as much as I wanted with no consequences like I was still freaking 19 or something! 15 lbs later...LOL
Their metabolisms are probably still going at teen speed, but as they get older, it'll slow down. -is a total parrot-

Or, maybe they don't eat much during the day, so they work the calories into their diets? They could be bulimic, but I'd rather not point fingers like that if they don't show symptoms.

Or maybe they actually work out alot. Dancing at clubs can burn off quite a good amount of calories if you do it right. :D
Some of my gfs eat like guys when they're out but at home they eat like a cup of jello for lunch or 2 slices of turkey for dinner sth like that...it really is very bag for the body. I'd rather eat moderate every meal than to see-saw like crazy....
I wish I could pig out and not gain, I would take full advantage of it....I have aunts that are in their 50 and are skinny minnies...nothing caught up to them, they eat like piglets...and gain nothing!  Oh to be them, it would be so nice.

my sister used to only be able to eat like a bird, after she had a baby, she eats like a total cow, and gains nuttin, I dont know if it will catch up on her....Im happy for em...Jealous but happy

I look like a clone of my Mom, but she has a hell of a time gaining weight, and she's 65.

I, on the other hand, evidently don't have that problem... or I wouldn't be here... I'd be out eating Whataburger!
i agree with everyone that it'll most likely catch up with them, and when it does, they're in big trouble because the habit of eating junkfood would be too ingrained to break easily. anyway, even if they stay thin their whole life, their health is still deteriorating. some ppl are blessed with genes that allow them to stay in shape while eating bad food, but no one has the genes that make them healthy while eating chili fries and drinking excessively.

(recently i found a lot of my ppl from my high school on facebook, and i was shocked but kinda happy to see that all the popular snobby girls are now chubby from all the junkfood and beer :p)
Another thought, do they smoke?  That keeps the weight down by increasing metabolism.  What about other "recreational activities?"  Maybe they drink and eat like fiends but are getting sick from the alcohol and purging.  There are way too many other things that could be going on.

That being said, I go to school with alot of young 20 somethings, I'm 43 and will never look like them again, with their flat tummies, their shapely legs and perky butts.  And even if they are a little chubby, they still have these attributes, perky boobs and butt and some weigh more than me.  Sometimes I can't help feeling that it's really unfair and I get a little obsessive about it.  But in my case it's all about age.

So then I think about our food choices. While I'm munching on my salad from home, with apples, cheese, chopped chicken, a homemade vinagrete dressing, and homemade croutons, they are eating McDonalds or a tasteless salad from Panera (sorry Panera fans).  I don't feel too deprived because I'm used to eating well now and frankly it tastes so much better than junk.  I just think about the good things in my life, the good food and my happy marriage, my great dogs and my new bike and think, "stop comparing myself to these girls."  Think about doing the same!
I used to be like that. I could eat as much of whatever I wanted. I wasn't waif-like by any means; I was what my husband called skinny-round. I was a curvy size 0. That was not even four years ago. I'm 22 now and I'm currently down to 118 from 140. It will catch up with them. Now I regret the poor eating habits I had before.
I've found that most skinny people that you "think" eat tons and never gain weight, don't eat much or that often.  They might eat a fattening meal with you but they probably eat very little the rest of the time or make better choices.  Plus, people that are skinny but eat whatever they want probably only eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full.  Or at least that's my observation.  Their lives don't revolve around food.
 I agree with Fallenstars727.

It's not like you're holding their hand daily monitoring their choices throughout the week. I'm sure they actually do eat healthy on occasion. It may appear that they just dive into unhealthy foods. But, that could be all they've had throughout the day. I've come to notice that people that are trim aren't constantly asking me what we're having for ' dinner ' at noon. They forgot about dinner until eight pm and say " Ooh chit... reheat pizza?! " Even if their meals aren't ' perfectly healthy ' they may be perfectly in proportion. ... and stretched out further throughout their days.  Since they don't live to eat. They eat to live.
