Hey Hun. I couldn't relate to you more about this topic! I not technically "over weight" but I know I need to step things up. I use to have an amazing body! I would give anything to have that flexability and those abs back! But since Christmas i've been going downhill steady! So i decided a few days ago to join this site and start watching what i eat and i hope it motivates me to start working out more. I actually have a gym directly acros from my room in my apartment building, and a pool. No joke, i am RIGHT across. I even pay for it in my rent. I live in a bachelor with my bf of 6 years.i'm only 19 years old, but its so important i make this lifetyle not just a once and a while goal when ever i start gaining weight.

I know exactly how you're feeling! I've been utilizing the gym on campus for about six months now, and I've noticed slight changes in my body since then. It's definitely slow going, but well worth it in the end. I can't even function during the day unless I get some sort of exercise. It really clears my mind and keeps me happy. Plus, I've lost two of the eight "freshman" pounds I gained. :) Good luck with your fitness goals! Hopefully we can encourage each other during the journey to a healthier lifestyle!
I was about to start a thread about this! It's SO FRUSTRATING. I hate that everyone tells me I shouldn't diet and tries to act like I could have an eating disorder for even MENTIONING counting my calories.
I'm 130 pounds and between 5'2'' and 5'3''. I can relate to the "bones and fat" predicament. I have an incredibly small bone structure, so while I may not look fat, that's all that's hanging off my bones. I would like to get to around 115, as that's where I was when I was cheering last year.
Hey ladies! I'm in a similar boat. I'm 5'1 and 122 pounds. I've got a little bit of a belly on me, and I want to get rid of it!
I was reading an interesting article online. It was posted in another forum, but I'm going to re-post the link here.

If you don't want to read it (it's long, and this guy is a bit vulgar), basically it says that if you want a thin stomach, DON'T OVERDO THE CRUNCHES.
If you do lots of stomach exercises, you'll build muscle, but you won't lose fat! There is no such thing as spot reduction. Not only that, you'll get thicker in the middle from all of the excess muscle. Then, when you do gain a little bit of weight, your stomach will look huge!
Cardio, especially running, is the best way to thin out your body. It trims thighs, abs and hips. Oh, and if you can't shrink your abs but you want to look like you have a smaller waist, build up your shoulders. Big shoulders make your abs look smaller.
*sigh* I must join the club.
I am in sheer desperation to lose 5-8 lbs, I am at 108 now (at 5'3) and am determined to get to 100lbs eventually. People might think that I weigh the right amount now, but it's all about the skinny fat!! My chest and arms are small but I just have a massive stomach which makes me look pounds and pounds heavier! To make it worse I have no shape and a small amount of muscle, so really I look like a square boy and it drives me insane! Oh to lose 5 lbs, come on girls we can do it! Work out like you've never worked out before!
seems like there's tummy problems all around...
We CAN do this girls!

I'm reaching out to you. It's that annoying point where you're too thin to be considered overweight, but still not quite in shape. I only have about five pounds to lose, and it's the hardest thing I've ever done. I'd love to find someone who's also struggling with the same thing. Any takers for some motivation?
I know what you are talking about. at the gym and this twig like girl walked up to me (out of nowhere, very brave girl) and said "Dont get offended, but you are bigger than me, but you dont jiggle how come" before I had a chance to reply her husband said "well honey its because she has a larger frame than you and is in better shape, you have a small frame and wear size 1 but its all fat"
Kinda harsh but true. To get rid of it just cardio and strength train, but always remember you can NOT spot reduce. I still have tummy weight to lose, but everywhere else is ok, why is the belly so hard!!!
Finally a place for us skinny fat girls to vent! I too have a healthy BMI but have a lot of body fat that I would like to burn off and replace with muscle. I'm 5'3" and started out at 135lbs and am now at 126lbs. My goal is probably around 115-120 but I'm not too hung up on the number so long as I have less jiggle and more tone.
Every day exept Sunday I do about a 1/2 hour on the treadmill of interval training (4 minutes at a sustainable pace and then 1 minute going all out repeated until the 30 minutes is up). Then I do some quick stretches and I'm off to do my resistance training for a half hour (I do different muscles on different days so they get a break in between). I was told that doing cardio before weights warms up your muscles and keeps your heart rate higher during the rest of the workout, has anybody else heard this?
Sundays I do an extra long cardio session and then no resistance training.
This routine worked for the first (almost)10lbs so I'm hoping it works for the next 10. I do notice that I am smaller now and have lost some fat off my legs and middle but I'm still not seeing much muscle tone. I upped the amount of protein in my diet so hopefully that will help. Any other hints for building lean muscle?
Oh this is so my place! Other people just do not understand us skinny fat girls. I actually have a low BMI but I still have all this fat on my bottom half. I look so funny and out of proportion. I am fluctuating at the moment between 112-114 at 5'4" well almost 5'5" and even when I was at 110 I still have all this jiggle. It is so gross I tell you! So I need to gain a little weight and lose fat all at the same time. I am officially starting my weight training today so hopefully that will work! I really just want some muscle definition and to even up. I have a tiny torso and the girls well they hopped off this train after the last 5 pounds so that just leaves me with my thighs and my flat jiggly butt. I feel healthy at 112 but BMI says I am underweight so I'm hoping gaining muscle will put me in the healthy range.
Am I losing weight too slowly?
