Getting into those skinny jeans

Quote  |  Reply

Hello,

I would LOVE to fit into a pair of skinny jeans, however, I don't have the legs for it. My calves and thighs just don't look right or can fit into a pair! Any advice or workout tips I can use to slim down my legs, especially my calves? I run but that doesn't seem to help, only make it kind of worse...

Thanks

Don't feel bad as those skinny jeans were made to make ordinary women feel bad. Hardly anyone looks good in them. The key is to tone your entire body and these may take some time

I know this doesn`t answer your question, but I think skinny jeans are fugly, and all my guy friends seem to agree. Now mini skirts, on the other hand, are totally hot and never go out of style. And I bet with all your running you have perfect legs for those (I know I do with my cycling!).

Remember, the clothes should fit you, not the other way around. ;)

Seriously, skinny jeans are not attractive, and just look silly on people who don't have stick thin legs.

Get yourself some nice boot-cut jeans.

I agree with the others - find pants that fit you, don't try to fit into pants that, frankly, don't look good on anyone, even the women who were made to wear skinny jeans. I'm not even going to talk about the guys who wear them...

I think skinny jeans look good on anyone with slim, toned and shaped legs.  They dont have to be the size of a pencil!

Well, sometimes we come to the realization that our bodies just aren't fashionable and have to figure out a way to work with what we've got in terms of bone structure instead of what we wish we had.

I have no idea how to fix fashion issues though, I can barely dress myself ;)

Hence your shirtless avatar?

Shirtless is always acceptable ;)

 Well..........not for everyone!

Even when I was little, my calves were big for my size. F*** skinny jeans. lol

I can't fit my calves into regular boots now either :(

I tried on skinny jeans once..and will never again. It's like wearing frickin spandex in jean form. I'm pear shaped to begin with..and I'm also very short..so it just didn't work. The bottoms of the pants were like damn leg warmers from the 80's and the crotch gave me some major camel toe. LMAO!

They may be in right now, but they don't work for everyone. TRUST me! There will be other trends while this one dies out. Heh. :P

I think skinny jeans look great on some people, terrible on others. For shorties and people with bigger legs - sorry, no. Long slim legs and matched with a looser top - fantastic.

Regarding the op's question: you can't spot-reduce fat on one particular place, you just have to lose fat all over. If you are running and the weight isn't coming off, pay closer attention to your diet.

I have not seen anyone with actual nice leg muscles look good in skinny jeans.  Unless your thighs and calves go straight up and down and you have no butt (no visible glutes, quads or calf muscle) skinny jeans will not look good on you.

Personally, I'll keep my awesome butt and leg muscles and keep wearing my flares!

i resisted wearing skinny jeans for a long time but honestly they are the only jeans that fit me well.  when you have a flat butt and no waist to hips, they seem to be the only ones that stay up and don't give you a baggy air sack on the rump...i don't think you have to have perfect long legs...i don't!

also i don't think they are necessarily "in" right now. there seems to be just as many flared jeans out there and i look hideous in any pant with any kind of flare.

so much skinny jeans hate.  i honestly think they are okay with a loose top in a dark wash...

My personal opinion is that skinny jeans don't look good unless you have really thin legs.

I have no scientific evidence of this whatsoever, but I did hear that wearing skinny jeans constricts circulation because they are so tight and this hinders weight loss.. Don't quote me on it though, I have no proof/link whatsoever...

skinny jeans are awful.  just find some jeans that fit.  i love levis 505s and 515s, and the fit is so consistent i can order online and know they'll be perfect.

Yeah, I think they're finally falling out of favour slightly. For more flattering jeans try 'boyfriend' style (low waisted, baggy) or 'skinny flares/kick flares'.

wow im the only one who likes skinny jeans i guess. personally i dont think i look fantastic in them but their so convenient. whenever i try on normal jeans now im aggrivated that i cant wear my boots over them, and the baggy bottoms catch on everything, esp on a bike. i cant wait to be skinny enough to look good in a pair

I rock skinny jeans and I'm only 5'4". I think I look fine....
My legs are relatively thin and long for my height.

I also wear straight legs...depends on what's clean.
I'm not a fan of a flare...

First of all the name "skinny jeans" is not to be taken literally! Meaning only skinny women should wear them. I know we all have worn "boot cut" jeans w/o boots!

I think the problem w/skinny jeans (as w/all jeans) is finding the right cut for your shape...as we know all jeans are not created equal! There are a lot of thing to consider when buying jeans (something as small as where the back pockets are placed can make your butt look bigger or smaller). The same holds true for wash, color, length and hip-placement...

Even when you reach your weight-loss goal you will most likely find yourself with the same problem...which is how do "you" find the right jeans for "your shape"?!?! (LOL)

I don't think you should stand clear from skinny jeans just because you have thick calves, legs, curves, etc...I think you should head to a department store w/knowledgable SA's, grab a bunch of different designers, cuts, colors, sizes (and don't focus on the # b/c we know designers sizing can play "tricks" on us-LOL) and find a pair that works well for your body shape! Also bring a pair of flat/pumps depending on what you normally wear because the shoes can make a diffference!

One fashion tid-bit is you can never go wrong with a dark wash denim (and paired with dark pumps) your legs will instantly look longer!

Trying to lose weight just to fit into a the "wrong pair" (meaning: wrong cut, length, style, etc...) of jeans will leave you still dissapointed

~Good Luck!!!
