I really, really, really want to be able to say fat & happy, but I probably wouldn't be completely honest :(

Skinny.. I am Fat but Happy, and I want to be skinny :(

Why would you have to be unhappy while skinny?

I've been fat and happy and fatter and happy all my life. Happiness or joy doesn't hinge on your weight. It all depends on the outlook you chose to have.

Well, I wouldn't want to be skinny and unhappy!  lol  Honestly I'm skinny now and the most happy I've ever been - exercise does WONDERS for your mood I've found!

While I can't imagine a set of circumstances that could lead up to having to make this decision, I'd choose happy over unhappy in a heartbeat.  Then again, my weightloss goal is/was "thin" not "skinny".  To me, "skinny" has implications of being underweight - the whole "skin and bones" thing.  I realise that not everyone uses it that way.  I would refer to healthy people with low weights as "thin", "slender" or "slim" rather than "skinny".

you shouldn't be happy because you eat all your  want and you don't have to be healthy and watch what you eat, and you shouldn't be happy just because you are skinny.

happiness should be based in other things, like good health, and being free of addictions, to food or to diets or to calorie counting or anything else.

seems to me that saying fat and happy, or skinny and unhappy, or the opposite shouldn't be.

how can you be happy knowing you are being unhealthy? and how can you be happy knowing you are so skinny that you are unhealthy because you cannot give yourself even a little bit of a break with something you like now and then?

it doesn't have to be an all or nothing, skinny people that are skinny because of an obsesion with diets are in the wrong too.

it is all about how you see food, food should be seen as energy, and of course enjoyed too, but there should be an equilibrium in between, you cannot be happy and live your live around it.

without the slightest doubt in my mind - fat and happy.

i'm skinny and miserable right now, and it's NOT WORTH IT. believe me.

edited to add that obviously, i'd prefer to be at a healthy weight for my body, which happens to be slim but muscular, and not skinny AND happy

I don't want to be fat or skinny, so I'll take the happy one at least, I guess!

fat and happyKiss

Fat and happy. If you're happy being fat (in this hypothetical situation) you wouldn't want to change surely. I'd like to be thin because it sometimes makes me unhappy being fat. But if I was more unhappy thin then that wouldn't solve anything!

when i was skinny, i was very unhappy.... then i got fat, and was happier .......... now, I am still fat, but unhappy again... it's not worth the weight gain

i prefer skinny and unhappy to fat and unhappy

i prefer even more, happy at either weight

Why is being "skinny" associated with unhappiness here?

Well I've never been fat so I may be overly optimistic.. but I think if you were completely happy with yourself, you wouldn't feel "fat." That's such a negative term and someone who was happy could flip it to make it positive. That's what I like to think anyway.

I have been really skinny and terribly unhappy - in fact, my unhappiness is what made me get so skinny.

The grass is always greener. What about healthy and satisfied? :)

If you are "fat," then this means that you are unhealthy. If you are unhealthy, there is no way that you can be happy. How can you be happy if you are unhealthy?

^ if you are "skinny", that means you're unhealthy too, surely?

Of course someone could be unhealthy and happy. Not all of the population is gifted with perfect health, and plenty of them are happy. I'm pretty sure there are happy asthmatics out there!

Fat and happy, of course.

And honestly, I think anyways who says skinny and unhappy needs to set their priorities straight. For a long time I would have said skinny and unhappy... but I was in a really messed up state of mind then. Finding happiness is the most important thing in life. I agree this question is kind of dumb - if you're happy and fat, and the things that make you happy are non food related, you can still be a happy, slim, healthy person.

But seriously. O_O Happy vs unhappy? It's not a question, is it?

well, the only reason why i had any happiness when i was bigger (290lbs) was because i would eat whatever i wanted whenever i wanted and didn't care.

now i have to care....

no, now i have to FIGHT OFF not caring....

i'm happier with my body and health, but totally pissed off that i can't eat cookies all day.

i know that's totally unhealthy, but it's the truth.

ETA: not to say i didn't have any other happiness in my life (i do have some now, moreso than before) but to be able to eat yummy foods and eat at restaurants without getting sick was something i really enjoyed. i do suffer from depression, but not everything is horrible.

agreed!

I just wanted to see what peoples responses would be..

Why FAT & UNHAPPY ?! Because there are people out the who will make you unhappy by being fat.

HAPPY & SKINNY ?! Being skinny is portrayed as being happy in life.

I wouldnt want to be FAT or SKINNY if i had a choice i would be HEALTHY because when you are healthy you can enjoy your life and be truly happy with out being depressed over your weight or counting every bite you had.
