Hi all just wanted to ask if any-one here has tried the skipping rope ? if so does it help with the weight loss?

I ride a bike to work and back 3 days a wk and each way takes me 1 hour so all in all i bike ride 6 hrs a wk plus walk up a steep hill pushing my bike 3 times a wk, and i have not lost any pounds in doing this, which is very frustrating. I have arthritus so i do not jog/run due to pain so if skipping helps shift pounds im willing to give that a go any advice would be appreciated please.

many thank in advance

Sonia

If you don't jog because of arthritis, then skipping rope might be painful as well.  Other than that, it gets your heart rate up, so it is excellent exercise.

I agree with the above, that jumping rope would not be good for someone who has pain from arthritis.  Have you thought about swimming for exercise?  Highly aerobic and very low impact, it would help you to lose weight without stress on your joints.  Also, make sure you are eating enough in relation to your exercise.  Your bike riding sounds pretty intense, and if you aren't taking in enough calories, you may go into what we call here "starvation mode".  In other words, your body will hold onto all of the calories you are expending because you aren't taking in enough to fuel your efforts.

Hope this helps a little.
