Been slacking, but still losing?

Quote  |  Reply
Ive take the last few off off/slow because its been back to school time, and ive been trying to get back into the groove of that. Also I havnt been eating the greatest, but Ive some how still managed to lose a few pounds- could this be because because im losing muscles? I do a fair bit of strength training when I go to the gym, and not as much cardio as I should- these few pounds ive lost- is it muscle?

no i dont' think you'll start losing muscle if you arent' doing strength training for a few days. sometimes your body jsut needs a little shake up and not being as strict about your diet can help to keep losign sometimes. i haven taken the past week off pretty much (still making pretty goodchoices but not countin cals and i know i've been over my 1500) and i've still lost. I also havent' worked out at all this week. a lot of people find that taking a day off or taking a break from counting is what they need to get off a plateau or get their body back into gear to keep losing. so don't stress and get back into teh groove so it doesn't become a habit b/c the weight won't keep coming off if you aren't working on it!

It may have something to do with the way your body stores glycogen in muscles...  glycogen is stored with a lot of water.  Perhaps when your body doesn't need as much glycogen it doesn't replace it? I know when you suddenly increase exercise, your body stores more, and so you will see a temporary gain.  When I go away on vacation, so basically don't exercise, I lose weight.
I would enjoy it while it lasts!Laughing
